What was the last movie you watched? Whether it be DVD or Cinema? Mine was The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and it sucked

Theater: The Dark Knight! And it was Fantastic! DVD: That George Clooney film...argh, with Tilda Swinton...it was pretty good. Riveting enough.
Oh, too bad about Mummy's Tomb. Like a lot of those actors, so that's gotta be disappointing.
Love your lovely Missys. (Missies?)

Yeah I think its because the mummy gets repetitive after a while "ok he's dead he's now alive and he can heal".

Wall-E. Wall-E. Wall-E. Go. See. NOW. Yeah I think its because the mummy gets repetitive after a while "ok he's dead he's now alive and he can heal". Or y'know, could be because RACHEL WEISZ wasn't in it. I mean seriously, how can you have a Mummy movie without both Brendan *and* Rachel in it?

Oh, I forgot about that. I love Rachel. But I'da thought maybe the marvelous Michele Yeoh would make up for it. And, I do like Maria Bello but can't see her as part-Egyptian/English!

I think the last thing I saw was The Dark Knight, and that was like, two months ago, which is sad. I just bought Uncle Buck and Clue on DVD, but still haven't watched them.
Oh, I did watch My Cousin Vinny on TVLand yesterday. Such an awesome movie.

My Cousin Vinny is one of my all time favourite movies ever. It never gets old. I have it on VHS and I really should upgrade to DVD and watch it again.
How'd you like it? I saw the trailer and it looked like a sweet film.

Oooh, do movies on YouTube count? Because I watched the original Spanish (with subtitles) version of REC on YouTube. It was an absolutely amazing horror flick-- they're remaking it as 'Quarantine' for the US market and I'm highly recommending it.

I can't figure out how to link the vid, but there's a promo here at Live Journal. About halfway down. Looks scary. "Deb" (Jennifer Carpenter) looks excellent.

I watched Da Vinci Code the other was amazing, don't see why people hated it.

I watched Da Vinci Code the other was amazing, don't see why people hated it. They hated it because they read the book. I loved the book, the movie was incredibly disappointing to me. And I'm not one of those that feels that movies should copy books to the letter, it just felt very thin and formulaic. It didn't translate well on screen. I just finished watching Little Miss Sunshine. I thought it was incredibly overrated, but then I usually hate films that most people rave about. I don't get what the big fuss was about this film.

You....Just....Ack....Must....What.... I'm SO smiting you. I'd do it twice if I could. Honestly, at the very least, pushing the car ranks right up there with recharging the Dirt Devil. Who thinks of stuff like this?

I'm not surprised we disagree Blue but can you please enlighten me as to what makes this movie so great? Who thinks of this stuff? A lot of people. National Lampoon's Vacation was a lot funnier. Slums of Beverly Hills was a lot quirkier. Best in Show was a better spoof on pageants/competitions. The quirky misfit family discovers they're okay after all. What's original about that?

At least one reason to love Little Miss Sunshine: the amazing freaking soundtrack. How It Ends by DeVotchKa!

I'm not surprised we disagree Blue but can you please enlighten me as to what makes this movie so great? The whole thing. From needing to run to push the van everywhere, to the death of Grandpa, to the uncomfortable scene in the pagaent. Everything was brilliant, and incredibly well-acted. Kinnear, Breslin, Carrell, Collette, and Arkin rawked. Breslin and Arkin especially deserved their nominations, and I think Arkin won.

Oh agree with you there. Love that song.
I just think other movies have done similar things as this movie only better. Yeah the acting was good, Arkin is a genius, but these are simply great actors that are good in everything they do. Arkin was outstanding in Slums of Beverly Hills too. That wasn't necessarily to the credit of this film that they happened to have great actors. I thought the plot was unoriginal.

Okay my faith in film has been restored. Just saw Day Zero and it was fabulous. Highly recommended. Stars Elijah Wood. Three friends from different walks of life get their draft notices and you watch what they go through over the next thirty days as they prepare. Each guy reacts differently and it doesn't turn out how you'd expect. Very well written and held my attention all the way through. Elijah was outstanding and the characters were all very believable. You can see it on surfthechannel.

Hey, not everybody's gonna like Little Miss Sunshine. Sometimes it's just a reflex when everybody's insisting it's just the greatest thing ever, sometimes it's just not your thing.
Pathetically, I haven't heard a thing on Day Zero, but I'll check it out. I'm on a mystery kick right now though, and going through some of the family DVDs. Murder on the Orient Express is a hands-down classic.

Don't feel bad pending, Day Zero was one of those independent films that got a limited release. Sometimes you have to dig deep to find a gem. The only reason I kept tabs on it is because I have a thing for hobbits and I tend to follow their tracks whereever they may lead.

Oh ho, an IMDB stalker, I see how it is. Although, I have to admit I still want to see One Missed Call (US release version) because Ray Wise plays an exorcist. Reviewers who mentioned him said he was the one bright spot in the whole dreadful thing.

It's usually my favourite actors that lead me to great movies. I need something to hook me in, and fangirl crushes are a great hook. I was so glad that RDJ led me to Iron Man and Edward Norton led me to The Hulk. Those movies wouldn't have been the same without those two. Now I'm looking forward to RDJ's next one The Soloist ( Tropic Thunder I heard was great but I tried it online and it wasn't my thing). I also follow Shia LaBeouf a bit and he's in Eagle Eye and that looks amazingly fun. Is anyone interested in checking out Ricky Gervais in Ghost Town?
