Last movie I saw in a movie theatre was The Rocker. I thought it was cute but I could see why it didn't do so well. Maybe if it was released straight to DVD it could have done better. The last movie I saw on DVD was Practical Magic, one of the ten chick flicks that I actually do enjoy watching. The last movie I saw on tv was half of Elecktra.
Ghost Town looks cool, but I think I'm going to wait for it to come to DVD.

Ghost Town is the kind of movie that I would read the reviews of first before deciding whether to go. Most films I just know I'll like and I don't care what critics say, but then there are others where I want a heads up whether I'm wasting my time.

Elecktra, was being shown on tv again and , I decided to finally watch the whole thing, this time instead of studying like I should have been, and reliazed that the part I already saw, was about the only interesting part of the movie imo and now will never get back those two lost hours back. I didn't really like it.

I just watched YouTube clips of the tattoo guy, and felt that I had gotten everything I could have wanted from that movie. I hear they pretty much forced J-Gar (I'm sorry, I know the J-Lo thing is over, but it's still my favorite think to do to Jennies) to do it, even though she wanted out after Dare Devil.

Oh is that out? I pre-ordered the three disc DVD edition and I'm waiting for it to come. I'm disappointed though that it doesn't look like they included the Ed Norton cut of the film.

Lucky you! I liked the movie a whole lot, but Iron Man was a bit better, particularly in the area of character development.

Movie night, yay! If people want some good movie recs, *I* recommend listening to Casey and Jerad's (reapercast) podcast, The Back 40, Episode 20: The Summer of Movies. It's a pleasant, funny, and leisurely stroll through movies from the summer, mostly in the superhero and comedy genres. Plus, in addition to their Reapercasts, they have podcasts at the Back 40 about Reaper.

We rewatched the classic My Cousin Vinny last night. Still as funny as ever, I can't believe the movie is almost twenty years old now.

Finally saw the first of the new Bond movies: Casino Royale. Loved it, though there were some parts of the story-telling that I thought were a little sloppy.

You too?!?! I LOVE Repo Man! I saw that so many times in high school and college. Classic. "It happens. People explode." I don't think they should touch it though. No sequel, it will never work.

Oh man, that movie makes just about every one of cracked.com's lists about movie endings. Apparently the studio completely changed the ending from the short story, undermining the entire premise.

At some point, *this* will be my last movie watched. About 20 times too: Holy crap! Look at Neville!!! And wow, this is probably the best trailer out of all of them. Nearly full-scene spoilers. ETA: Considering what a pain in the butt this post was to make, YES I put it up in the News Table. Blue's perogative. So there. Pfft.

Thanks to the long holiday flight, I got to see...
Hellboy II: not as good as the first, but the FX people brought their A game. Ghost Town: Could not sustain interest for more than 5 minutes at a time, even with Ricky Gervais.
And since I didn't sleep on the flight, I know I must have watched about 4 other films, but I'm drawing a complete blank on what they were. Gotta love those multiple channels.

I finally saw Milk today, it took ages for it to come to a theatre near my house, but I have to say that it was definitely worth the wait. I really enjoyed it.

BK, thanks for the rec. Lots of coverage while they were making this, since it was filmed locally, and anyway Sean Penn lives here. (His daughter goes to school with my friend/coworker's daughter; my friend has worked with them at fundraisers and whatnot, says they are very unassuming.)
But, the documentary The Times of Harvey Milk is one of my favorite docs ever. I remember the events so well, it was such a time in the Bay Area. I want to see Milk because I like all involved, but it's hard to imagine how it will match up to the documentary. Most amazing of so many amazing clips, when Dianne Feinstein makes the announcement, and the reporters and others are all crying out "No!" and "What!" It's such a vivid moment.

I remember seeing the documentary too and it was excellent. I love Sean Penn but I feel like I already know the story so I'm not as motivated to see a dramatization.

cko, I really want to see the documentary now, I've heard such great things about it.
They actually play that clip in the movie, one of the best things about the movie is how seamlessly they blend real archival footage into it.
I just couldn't get over how Sean Penn disappeared into the role, you literally forget that it's him after a few scenes.
apparently "blockquote" doesn't work very well, and of course it's the first button to choose. pfft ~ Blue

Especially since Harvey was well over 6 feet tall, and Sean Penn is not. When they were promoting that movie, I guess James Franco was joking about how many times he got asked about kissing Sean Penn, which catalyzed some interesting debate at LJ and other places. (Why don't they ask gayy/lesbian actors what it's like to kiss the opposite sex; Letterman saying to Franco "well getting good at kissing guys is something you don't really want, right?" boo-hiss; Whatsisname Jean-Luc Picard saying he's more uncomfortable playing murderers; etc.) Franco said, during one of the longer kissing scenes, they were out on the street, and about a minute in, it hit him..."Hey, I'm kissing Spicoli!" Possibly that's only funny to those of us of a certain age, though. Nice to see you, beatrix, by the way! And oooh, you have a Dexter sig. Any Dexter icons? ETA: from the lj community queer_as_tv:

Ooookay. I have decided that quote/blockquote thing is annoying. I never realized that. I wish I could remove "blockquote" from the reply option list now. The "quote" choice btw is the piece of paper with the arrow. It's much further to the right. Ugh. What on earth was ProBoards thinking???
I exalted ya anyways, beatrix. ;D Nice to see ya again.
Yeah, he has a talent for that. Amazing how far Madonna's hot tempered ex has come.

Heck, Blue, I didn't even know about that option. In my usual inimitable style, I've been using the block-quote one and deleting the b-l-o-c-k. With that, the falling Rays making it tricky to type, and the multiplying awesomelies, I don't know how I can even post.
Plus, all the New Year's drinking.
Oh, topic. Last night with my cousins, we watched Holes. Never seen that before, really enjoyed it. Great acting by the kids.
