Wow, that looks kind of weird. Not the art I was expecting at all. The fire is cool but the logo looks off and Sam and Sock look like oil paintings. It's a bit rough and doesn't match any of the images we've seen from the show. I was expecting either that promo pic on Bret's site with Ray behind Bret, or maybe the Hello my name is tag from the opener.
November 4th people! Don't forget. I'll post back here if amazon starts taking pre-orders. I can't wait to talk about the bonus features here. This will keep us busy until the show returns for sure.

Eh, I'm not really that big a fan of the cover art, but I also think that it may not be final. And I don't quite get the use of like, neon green, for the title. It's just...odd.

That's what I thought. I hope it changes.

Right!? The green just reeks of...The CW. *vomits* I do hope this was only a mark-up and they'll do something different with the final product. The flames are cool, but maybe they could make them a blue or some other color? That way they could use red for the "REAPER" part...

I think our banner would make better cover art.

No kidding. Even some of our amateur photoshop guys could do a better job than that! The cover is just not something I was envisioning. At all.

It definitely looks like just a prototype to me. Ditto on the comments about cheesy font, but it also looks pretty flat. And not at all like other CW stuff (their DVDs tend to have a pretty uniform style). But I do like the pic choice.

Ahh! And it's looking to BE a prototype! Thank you jesus! From the same link above, it appears that Lionsgate updated the picture with a watermark saying, "Key Art Not Final"

Whew! I wonder whether like leaked pilots for new shows they put this out there to gauge fan reaction and are now making adjustments accordingly.

I'm going to claim that I called it being a prototype, but it cracks me up that they're test-running the art. They could release the DVDs as just a beige box with "CHILD PORNOGRAPHY" stenciled across the front and side, and I'd still buy it and put it on my shelf.

That's us though, and they won't make their money on the two dozen of us on the web that already love the show. They're trying to attract those people that missed the show when it aired but are curious and want to check it out, or the casual viewer that now wants to catch every ep they missed. They need all those types plus us to sell a lot of DVDs. The box needs to be eye-catching and make the show look cool so I think the fire is effective, just didn't like the picture they chose or the colours.

I'm mainly kidding, but in serious defense of the box art I think it's a good reprsentation of the show. The fire's eye-catching (and will hopefully look less cheesy once it's been dolled up by the graphics artist) and the couch photo is a good photo that doesn't mislead about the show's nature. If they picked a more dramatic shot, people might pick it up expecting something more Supernatural-y. Plus, it shows off the show's most popular characters. I think it's a good composition.

Amazon now has Reaper season one available for pre-order for $27.99 (sometimes the price goes down by the time they ship and they give you the lowest price). Anyway, kind of sucks that I had it down to be notified when it became available and they didn't notify me, I found out from a Google alert. What sucks worse is when I went back to Amazon after pre-ordering to search for the item again by typing in "Reaper", still the DVD doesn't appear on the first page. The TV show page does that says its not yet available. To find the DVD, you have to scroll to halfway down the second page. How is anyone going to find it? Anyway, go and add some nice comments to the DVD page and maybe it will bump it up in the search results. And pre-order, that always helps too. ETA: Whoot! I think I wrote the first review!

Good on both counts; if you don't have the cash right now to pre-order, definitely leave a review talking about how much you love the series and are looking forward to the DVDs. But if you are planning on buying, Amazon might make pay a little more attention if people are already throwing their money at the pre-order stuff. Companies tend to use those figures to estimate their overall sales.

I was thinking about pre-ordering but I might just wait and ask for it for Christmas. I probably won't be able to wait those extra two months before the holiday, but I'll just pretend until the release date gets closer. Than I'll cave and buy it for myself.

Not that I care, because, uh, I don't have a Blu-Ray player and couldn't afford one if I wanted one, but I wonder why the company isn't planning to release the first season in that format. I guess they want to see how it sells on DVD, a format that is much more widely available.

Right, pace, I saw that! I thought I had done that weeks (months) ago but I think I just did a star rating. I'll order and review if I can figure out how.

There's a link on the page to write a review. It's pretty self-explanatory. Please do one.
And loaded with bonus material? Deleted scenes? Commentary from both cast and crew? They love us! They really love us! And now I'm sure it was the feedback that sent them back to the drawing board with the art. The logo is so off, how could they do that? Just use the actual logo, what the hell?
I can understand fans wanting BluRay if they watch it in HD when it airs. It seems like a step down once you buy the DVD. Although a BluRay player does improve the quality of a standard DVD when you play it so its better than nothing. And my standard DVDs look awesome on a new TV, so its still good quality. We'll get a BluRay when the price comes down.

Updated Cover Art! ...yeah. I can't really see how they fixed it either. And WTH? "Slackers"? I like "tools" so much better.

Ugh, what is wrong with these people? Can't they at least get the logo right? I don't mind the picture all that much but that green logo looks so amateur. The actual one is so much cooler with the tail. And Satan's favorite slackers? What is that? Satan's tools was used when the show was first promoted. At least its official language. Gee, it's as if their art department had never seen the show. You think?

I'm disappointed that there isn't going to be BluRay release, the show looks incredible in HD so I can only imagine how stunning it would be in BluRay. Though I must say that the idea of the set being loaded with special features is definitely softening the blow.

I can't wait to find that out for myself, this will be my first season catching it in HD.
And beatrix, nice icon! I love Daniel.

You're in for a treat, pace. It really looks amazing. Though I will admit that I spent the first few episodes of the series completely distracted by the whiteness of Missy's teeth, they look normal in standard definition but in HD they're kind of blinding.
As for the icon, I love Daniel too! Even though I spent about twenty minutes trying to decide between a Daniel icon and a Ben one.

You made the right choice most definitely. Thank you for sparing me the sight of Ben. And a tip for making it full size is to enter the size in the modify windows 100x100. You'll see where it says avatar size you can put 100 in each box for width and height.
