Heh. Clothing optional? That sounds oddly awesome. Except for the fact that, like most nude beaches, the folks attending will probably be the type you wouldn't want to see naked in the first place. I'm not judging, though!
Hurricane Hannah is a'comin' for us! We're supposed to get quite a bit of rain and wind tomorrow, though I think before it gets here it'll probably be downgraded to a tropical storm. Or it already has been downgraded, I'm not sure. Either way, hopefully the rain keeps people from going to Fire Island, meaning less work for me!

I'd go for the old hollywood style bash but I hate costumes so your call. I'm probably more for the yuppie thing too but could be boring? What are Marfaritas? Typo or spin on an old classic? Tell us what you decide.

Thank heavens. Stinger, I owe you one. Exalt! Yeah, each of those options is flawed for me. I can't quite see dancing to hits from the 70s and 80s with a buncha naked people. But SF 30-somethings, or Marina yuppies...mmm, no. Maybe. I'm not much one for costumes, either, Pace.
Wow, you get tropical storms up there? And, that ferry goes to Fire ISLAND? I never knew. Somehow that seems to answer a question I didn't know I had.

Weeeeeeeeee. My first post in this thread.
Tomorrow we're supposed to be hit by tropical storm "Hanna".
I hope it isn't as big of a deal as most people concern it to be... because I have bowling on Saturday. It's the first week of bowling season, and I might not be able to go if it's too strong. I mean, it's not like I'm looking forward to waking up at 8:00 AM, but I am pretty excited to hang with my friends again. I haven't seen them since August 16th, when we had to sign up for our senior year in the league. Eeeeeeeee.

Hi, Satanic, nice to see you in the MM. As you can see we discuss many different topics, but still seem to have a lot in common. Such as, the tropical storm some of you will be experiencing. Hope it's not too bad.
Bowling!?! I love the idea of bowling, and can do it now recreationally with friends. But growing up, my Dad had this idea that we should do "family bowling" every Sunday morning. Oh, the gutterballs, the yelling, tears, the swear words. Then doughnuts after.

...AHAHAHAHA. You made me el oh el, cko. I'm actually pretty good at bowling... I've been doing it for almost 4 years now, so. I get more strikes and spares than gutters.

My nephew has chicken pox and now I'm fuh-reakin' out that I'm going to get them! I never had them as a kid, though I was vaccinated against them. Bah. I just have the type of luck that I'd get a case my second week of school and have to take a week off.

No, I'm sure you'll be all right; that vaccine is quite reliable. Try to keep your health up; don't let yourself get run down. And don't stress about getting chicken pox; that might make you more susceptible. Think about something else... 1) "What could possibly go wrong?"-- 15:50-16:38. 2) Blooper: It's all funny, but the jetpack is around 1:35. (Warning: language.)

Here's a fun fact about me: I started bowling in leagues when I was twelve and by the time I got to high school, I was the youngest Varsity bowler the team had ever had. I bowled on the high school team all four years. I stink now though, it's just been too long, but in my day I won lots of trophies. I still have my own ball with my name on it. Fact about the chicken pox vaccine: It's not total immunity without a booster (second shot). If you haven't had a booster and you do catch it though, as long as you had that first shot its very mild and then you are completely immune so you can't lose either way. My kids were vaccinated and two years ago they both caught it at school. They each had about 5-10 pox marks and little to no discomfort. In three days it was gone. Better than a booster and now they don't need that second shot. So there, nothing to worry about.

I won last years league championship, first place. I have a first place trophy with my name on it and all! I've never had chicken pox, but I've had the vaccine too. I doubt you'll get them... just don't think about it, like cko said. It's possible that the more you worry, the more your immune system will weaken and make it a larger possibility for you to get it. You'll more than likely get by without catching them. BAH -- I have to wake up at 8:00 AM man! How am I gonna get to sleep early? Lately I've been staying up, stressing over ADDX and reading stories, ect. I need to get to sleep around 1:30 -- the latest. Time for Benedrylllllllll.

Take your own good advice and don't stress! Start winding down early. "Day" dream, like think random thoughts.
Good luck! ...and, why do you have to get up so early?

Hah. Me, taking my own advice... that'll be the day. I have to wake up early because of bowling tomorrow. I called and made sure they weren't cancelling because of Hanna. Apparently they aren't, so I'm stuck with waking up at 8:00 AM... getting dressed, putting makeup on... doing hair... GAH. Why'd I have to go and remind myself?

Wooo Hoooo! Big one! Started with a little creaking, then more, then a big jolt! Then some rattling.
Then my sister in law started yelling and running in circles.
Exhilarating! Hope there's no major damage. Or aftershocks.

Thanks for the EQ info, Blue, my dad was fascinated. Yay, our dinky little town is all over the (internet) news, for probably the next 10 minutes. And, related, hope you East Coast-ers are weathering the storm ok.
Topic of human nature...I quit eHarmony because it was too structured and boring. So these less structured dating sites, well let's just say it's less-boring. Nice variety of people. Maybe I should say wide variety. Upside: I'm learning a lot!
Semi-related. Pace (or anyone) do you know if it's possible to link to an LJ post so people can see just that post and not everything else on your LJ?

cko -- Yeah, I think you just click on your post on LJ, and copy/paste the URL.

You can friends-lock the posts you don't want Outsiders! to see (go to Edit Post, there should be a drop-down for changing the Security Level), but then fandom people who don't have you friended or aren't logged in can't see those entries either.

Yeah, that's the opposite strategy. I want something outsiders (or my family!) can only see. I may just have to set up something elsewhere, or a different LJ account. Oh, god, now I think I actually am going to have a blog. Nooooooo.

So...a different way to ask the same question. Any suggestion about where you can post to something that's like a Live Journal entry (or my post here) without people having access to all your other stuff? Like when you link to a "here's this funny cartoon" and it goes to Photobucket. But more text-based, with links. Google docs? Something simple. Oh, Satanic, I just saw that about the prairie dogs! Ha! Yes, Blue is quite knowledgeable about earthquakes and such. Wait'll she rolls out her "Subduction begets Orogeny" lecture.

So, now trying to bump down that Clothing Optional post. Pretty much decided none of those three events was quite "me" each for a different reasons. May check out the marfarita one just for the dancing, if not the company. The guys in the band are fun, anyway.
One thing I've learned from free dating websites. Don't use a picture of yourself that makes it obvious you took it yourself holding a camera at arm's length. Not to be looks-ist, but that is never flattering. One guy took his self-portrait of his reflection in a mirror. Using a cel phone. In a tux.
One lovely man had a funny joke, though.
And that's how I'm spending my Sunday.
ETA: ok mini-poll. "I like to dress in costume and go to Renn Faires." Turn-on, or turn-off?

Hahahahahaha hahahah hahahahaa! ... Depends on how big his codpiece is! Edit: Also, reminds me of the most recent storyline in one of my favorite webcomics. Depictions within are fairly true to life. If you've never been, though, they can be good times if you're with the right people. i.e., ones who don't take semi-historical reinactment as an excuse to bathe even less.

ETA: ok mini-poll. "I like to dress in costume and go to Renn Faires." Turn-on, or turn-off? Oh! I used to do that when I volunteered at OMSI. Turn on!....If it's only 4 times maximum a year, that is (solstices and equinoxes).

Rappy, hope you are having a great day! You don't have to demand wishes, we give them freely.
And briefly back to the RenFaire issue, thanks for voting, everybody! Great comic, OYM, enjoyed that. Yeah, but I'd already checked the box that said "Size Doesn't Matter."
