On the non-abstinence front, Dexter is taking some insane twists and turns. I'll just repeat what I said earlier: you think it can't get any weirder, wilder, or better, and then it does. And mmmm, Anton. (By heather11483, who also has icons of Rahm Emmanuel.) Lesser reviews for Dirty Sexy Money. Cool characters with moral dilemmas--or questionable morals--are acting totally out of character. I still recommend it, though. For now. I just hope Candis Cayne comes back. And Alex Denisof was on Private Practice! He had two wives and his English accent on. Looked great. (Still holding out hope he might show up on Reaper some day.) But that show still sucks. This week's ending scene was Tim Daly taking Taye Diggs to a singles bar and trying to help him overcome his dorky singleness. He's a DOCTOR. He's Taye DIGGS. I mean, come on.

So, anyone have a show you want cancelled? I'm opening up a side business: I'll watch it, it'll die. Sources: Daisies, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Canceled. And in the no justice/some justice department: "ABC has announced its new midseason lineup to launch in January: Private Practice will follow Grey's on Thursday nights, and Life on Mars will move into the 10 p.m. slot on Wednesdays after Lost." Pace, I was going to invite you to be my business partner, but since LOM is surviving, we'll have to see. ETA: Hey, somewhere I passed my 666 post! Where's the cake?

667! Even better, you're across the street from evil at the Oliver's house. Congrats. My specialty is particular characters. I love them, they die. So maybe I should head up my own division or comething. I feel like Life on Mars just dodged a bullet since it was being named alongside of all those other bubble shows. They all got the axe while ABC ordered four more Mars eps. Not a full season order of 9 mind you, just 4. I think they want to see how they do after Lost before making a real commitment (ABC, those commitmentphobes). Still, I won't complain. I'm as relieved as I was when Reaper got 13. Better than nothing. And last night's episode was amazing. I hope the ratings reflect it. ETA: Bummer, ratings went down:

So, anyone have a show you want cancelled? I'm opening up a side business: I'll watch it, it'll die. Ooh, ooh, ooh! I have a bunch. Start with American Idol. If I want to see people singing songs I can't stand or butchering songs I do like, I'm perfectly capable of going to a karaoke bar all on my own. In fact, can we get rid of 90+% of reality shows? Maybe limit networks to one such show a week. I would suggest more, but I think it violates the Geneval Convention (which I still observe even if our government does not) to have you watch too many such shows.

If it's going to involve reality shows, I'm going to have to up my rates. Or maybe Stinger would be willing to work that division. But thanks for trying to minimize the torture. And with that, I'm no longer across the street from evil, so just for you, L&B.

No, now you're next door to evil. Not sure that's a step in the right direction.

OK, there's a slight spoiler for Reaper here at Ausiello that Blue posted in Spoilers, but also these semi-relevant Other TV tidbits: Mmmmmmichael Trucco! Reapercast is doing Big Bang Theory podcasts. I need to start watching that show.

I have friends that LOVE BBT and are trying to get me to watch it. I can appreciate the geek humour but the show has the worst laugh track I've ever heard. It's loud and annoying and goes off after every line like with those stupid Disney sitcoms. I can't stand it, so I can't watch the show. It's not THAT funny.

I know, and I love Sam Anders, but I tell you, that laugh track. It's THAT bad.

I know I promised, but coincidence--I joined an Aaron Douglas (Devilivery guy) comm from Amber's recommendation, and they linked to the official Michael Trucco website with his behind-the-scenes photos from Battlestar Galactica Season 4. Might be kinda spoilery. But really fun to see these normally serious actors goofing around. Plus, Michael piggy-backing Tricia Helfer, posing with Tahmoh Penikett, and in bed with Katee are sights not to be missed.

I guess it's time for Dirty Sexy Money to say good-bye. But at least the characters are fantastically attractive no matter how bizarrely they seem to be acting. I'll miss you, Jeremy (Seth Gabel) with your winsome rich boy charm. Brian (Glenn Fitzgerald), your profane anger, your blue blue eyes. Carmelita (Candis Cayne), so awesome. And Karen (Natalie Zea)--I'll follow you anywhere. icons by megan868

I recently hopped back onto the Angel bandwagon and bought season's 2 and 3. Man, I had forgotten how great this show was. Although season 2 took a awhile to get going, once Darla and Druscilla came back it was like magic. So, so great. And early season Wesley was hilarious! Shame he couldn't have stayed that way.

Yay, random! Nice to see you. Ohh, Angel. I'm still making my way through the DVDs. Yes, indeed, the Darla/Drusilla storyline, so crazy. I still think Boreanaz's transformation from rather-bland broody vamp hunk (in Buffy) to hilarious conflicted quirky do-gooding avenger is amazing. Apparently people think the same about Wesley's story arc, but i haven't gotten to that point yet. I agree, great show.
I'm re-watching Buffy; season 2, I'm up to Halloween. Army Xander, yeah. And Oz and Willow are gonna meet up soon. Hooray!

Re: Heroes, varcinie wrote a terrific piece at LiveJournal. I don't even watch that show but as always, her writing is so great that even I feel disappointed in the downturn. And, Tamlyn Tomita plays Hiro's mom? Damn, I'm old.

Who is she? I'd never heard of her but she was gorgeous. That scene with Hiro was my favourite in an otherwise meh episode. Heroes is really pissing me off but that sequence was amazing.

Yeah, she's not that well-known, though her list of credits is pretty long. I mostly know her from The Joy Luck Club. varcinie also mentioned that scene as amazing. I'm still watching Dexter, it ends next week and I don't know what I'll do. I'm back watching Brothers & Sisters, the Greg Berlanti show with Sally Field and a ton of other stars. It's soapy, but I'm loving Kevin and Scotty's marriage (Luke Macfarlane is my favorite actor of all time right now). That has one more ep, in January. Then what will I do with my Sundays? Oooh, reality. Some people whose TV taste I respect (including yours!) watch TAR. So it is tempting. But I'm trying to hold off falling into the reality show abyss. I did end up watching one ep of Transamerican Love Story but was shocked to learn it was going to be 7 more episodes of these guys in a mansion vying for the attention of Calpurnia Addams, and I just didn't have it in me to continue. Even though I am curious who she chose.

I usually despise all forms of reality tv unless there is either a cooking, travel or historic component. I call this one travel. I have no interest whatever in the interpersonal relationship nonsense.

Help! I don't know what to do -- five season boxset of Angel is only $50 at Amazon. I feel like something less of a Jossian because I haven't seen this series. I didn't like Angel in Buffy, though I hear he's much better in his own series. Cordelia (without Xander) and Wesley don't grab me either. If I can't connect to any characters, I don't know if I'll like this, and Spike in season five just doesn't seem like enough. Still, I feel like I should try it, you know? $50 for the whole series? What should I do??

pj, I wasn't the biggest Angel fan, and don't have the DVDs, but if you've got the spare cash, go for it. Angel is much better on his own show and I think you'll enjoy Wesley's journey. I found Seasons 1 and 2 the best. Seasons 3 and 4 went off the rails towards the end. Season 5 was good, but they had to work fast to finish off the series and it showed. (At the party for the 100th episode, they were told by the network that it was the last season.) Hope this helps.

Thanks lo. I always say I'm going to cut back on my amazon purchases but it seems there's always some exception. Or maybe I'm just weak. What I really want right now is all four seasons of Doctor Who, but they are ridiculously expensive ($50 for each 13 episode season). I decided I'm going to make those several birthday presents from family next year. I'm so torn about Angel though, can't deny it's a steal, even for the same $50.

Still, I feel like I should try it, you know? $50 for the whole series? What should I do?? Before you buy the whole set, go out tonight and rent the 1st disc from either the library or Blockbusters. Watch it, and if you like it, buy them. If not, then don't.

I'm loving Angel, it is quite different from Buffy. I wish I'd seen that price break; I've been sharing my set with a friend across the country, and considered buying her a set for her birthday, but $100 seemed a little steep. We've probably already spent $50 between us with the sending back and forth. On that note, pace, I'm happy to send you season one if you want to check it out first? It's probably still in the mailer that she sent back to me....
Oh and ITA with loandbehold; see what I said in the post above. DB is fantastic as Angel.

Hmm, getting it from the library is a good idea. That's how I first saw Buffy, but after getting frustrated with a damaged disc halfway through season three, I finally caved and bought them all. But I might just be happy seeing them once.
ETA: Done. The library has the whole set, so I have season one on the way.

...But I might just be happy seeing them once. ETA: Done. The library has the whole set, so I have season one on the way. Stick with it, pace. It has a different tone and rhythm than Buffy (or Firefly for that matter.) But it continues to develop. What I love about Angel is how the demons and other other-worldly creatures are living, well, everyday lives. It's like going from a small town to the Big City. You can live more like you want to. But, I do think you might be content with only watching once? Unlike Buffy, which I've watched episodes again and again. (When I first saw The Prom, I watched it 5 more times in a row.) And...this discussion inspired me, so last night I got back to my first-time-through watching of Buffy Season 5. The Body. I...don't have any words to talk about that yet.

I just sat stunned when it was over. And yes, Buffy can be enjoyed over and over. After Dr. Horrible, I really want to see Once More With Feeling again. Anyone who enjoys Dr. Horrible would like that episode, even if they've never seen any Buffy.
