So, pretty simple thread, but the last board I was a part of ( CommanderBond.net; if you're a fan of James Bond, check it!) had it and it was ridonkulously popular. Point of it is, post what you're currently listening to, bands, genres, etc. You can expand on how it makes you feel, what listening to it reminds you of, or you can simply leave it at "I'm listening to this -- it's good." I always found it awesome letting me know about songs and bands I didn't know existed. Anyway, currently I'm listening to Check Yes Juliet by We the Kings.

I made this same thread on ADDX, earlier today.
Seems to steal everyone's interest.
I'm listening to Wherever I May Roam, by Metallica.
Metallica makes me all tasty feeling. XD

Every day I listen to Redemption Song by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. (Actually, watch the vid I linked in the MM.) Because: nothing like a good cry. I'm on a major run of The Jesus and Mary Chain; I guess you'd categorize them as 80s alternative pre-grunge pre-Brit Pop, um, rock. Top songs: Just Like Honey, April Skies, Happy When It Rains, Head On. Because: awesome distorted guitars and a droney melodic sound that goes right through you if you play it loud. On headphones in an airport. Except I missed the announcement of my gate change. Try not to mind the hairdos.Ceremony by New Order. Because: I just saw a site where someone (who by her age was born after the song was recorded) said "It makes you feel infinite." Dreamland by Cordafonia. Because: I got it off onyourmark's music website thing and can't stop listening to it. Natural high. That Beat is Hard by Fort Minor. Because: My nephew gave it to me. Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park's side project. Great, yeah, beat.

The music website cko mentioned is thesixtyone. Lately I've been listening to Flobots a lot-- mostly "Handlebars" and "Combat." They're kinda political, intellectual hiphop. S'good stuff.

Love "Handlebars". And they performed it on one of the late shows and passed the ultimate music bar: making their live performance of a song sound just as good (and more interesting) than the recorded/produced track.
I tend to hear a song, like it, and then listen to it over and over for a day or two. Right now that's "You're a Wolf" by Sea Wolf, or as I thought of it, 'that car commercial song'.

No good links for Ceremony, but this one sounds good. Close your eyes unless you want to see scenes of Ann Arbor from a car window. Also a version by Radiohead. (It's heartfelt, anyway.) Enjoying the recs, everyone. Stinger, I love power pop! But, this thread sent me on a two-hour late night youtube odyssey, so...curses!

The song I'm listening to right now is I Don't Care by Apocalyptica featuring Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace. The video is kinda a wierd though. It's helping me forget about a "can't win relationship" even though the song means alot more than that.

I checked that out, LiF, and liked it! Great sound. Sorry to hear about the relationship; glad the song is helping.

For people looking to end their week on a weird/grim note, I ran across an old Onion AV Club inventory of "innappropriate funeral songs" called "(Don't Taunt) The Reaper". www.avclub.com/content/feature/dont_taunt_the_reaper_26. Fully outfitted with embedded YouTube clips, makes for some easy goofing off.

I don't even know WHY I'm listening to this... maybe because I have iTunes set to shuffle.
Well, it just ended... it WAS "Godeatgod" by Marilyn Manson... now it's "California Uber Alles" by Dead Kennedys. XD
I'm such a loser.

Speaking of easy goofing off, this guy has been doing a "column" at AV Club: It's been going on for months or possibly years, but it's great reading and there are enough music-playing thingies to get a good education. And Satanic: I love the DKs! Seen them many times in clubs around here. Crazy show. Jello Biafra used to lose his clothing regularly. Plus he ran for President. Or maybe Mayor.

President Brown. XD Wow, you get to see DK's LIVE? I hate you.

...or probably, film. I don't believe it. That free live show on campus, Talking Heads at Berkeley, that I mentioned in the MM, is on YouTube! From 1978! Yes before many of you were born! YouTube. It's a time machine. My friend set up these free shows, usually as promos for club appearances later. After this noon show, we saw them twice at the local club. Similarly, the Knack, Eddie and the Hot Rods...I forget who else. Just for myself, this is an amazing (though not great quality) version of Pearl Jam doing a Talking Heads song. I'm in love with Eddie Vedder right now. Aaannnd one more thing I found: Kings of Leon? Does anyone know about this band? With, um, Eddie Vedder in this clip.

Oh! Kid Rock has that new song out that really not that bad. I'm not normally a fan. Something like "Alabama Summer", right? and is it me, or are the stupid smilies not working right?

Yeah I actually like that song only for the chorus bit after he says Sweet home Alabama reminds me of that crappy Reese Witherspoon film!

Not big on Kid Rock, love Metallica, never heard of Saliva (well not as a band!) but will check it out right now! BTW I'm sure this is known, but Sweet Home Alabama was first a song by Lynnard Skynnard (sp?).
Uh, Blue, I haven't tried, but I can if you want me to. You mean the regular devils or...? PM me or we could discuss in Feedback or Tech Issues. I can't help solve, but I can be the guinea pig. Your smiley is working, if the waving one is what you want.

The Kid Rock song is a new song, but yeah - kinda in the vein of Sweet Home Alabama. Uh, Blue, I haven't tried, but I can if you want me to. You mean the regular devils or...? PM me or we could discuss in Feedback or Tech Issues. I can't help solve, but I can be the guinea pig. Look at my last post in this thread. Does the smilie look alright? To me, there's something wrong with his waving arm.

I am usually a mellow listener listening to The Shins or The Fray groups like that nothing heavy but you have those moods where you think thats it I want to rock!

Hey, Stinger, I found 'em. Remember I mentioned my friend is his aunt-in-law. Her son sadly died recently at, I think, 19, and I believe the CD has a tribute to him. There is also a Tribute to Danny CD which I believe is also Jack Johnson. (If it's not, don't feel obligated to keep it.)
PM me your address and I'll send them. I appreciate it; I don't really listen to them but it feels better to give to someone I know.

So, keeping this thread alive, here's this of Scott Weiland playing a Doors song with the (remaining) Doors. Great performance, and Weiland looks amazing. Can't figure out when this is from (does anyone know?) or why he looks so different from vids of him with Velvet Revolver or STP, in his scrawny bare-chest Iggy Pop mode. Okay, that's references from the 1960s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Looking for more posts on music from this century. Thank you.

Gotta love me some Manson!

Listening to the (ugh, like some caveman) radio I caught I nice song that's probably going into my Reaper-themed playlist: You're Gonna Go Far, Kid from the Offspring's new album.

Cool rec, Pending. I like that one. And what is this Reaper-themed playlist? Did you ever share that?
I'm considering going to see My Morning Jacket at the Greek Theater, which is an awesome venue, but I only know a little of their music and anyway can't find anyone in my circle wants to go along.

Just a dumping ground on iTunes that was originally meant to try and generate some ideas for music videos. Because that project's gotten off the ground so well. It secretly bothers me that there aren't more Reaper fanvids on YouTube, even though I know those usually don't start showing up until the DVDs drop.
I say just go with it; I tend not to go to concerts or performances unless I have company, and that turns into an excuse never to go.
