Because that project's gotten off the ground so well. It secretly bothers me that there aren't more Reaper fanvids on YouTube, even though I know those usually don't start showing up until the DVDs drop. You haven't given up have you? You've been talking about this since the old TWoP forum! You know, I just might do that. And, cool song, Blue. ETA: Hey, you figured it out on LJ! Damn you're persistent. Good for you. My Morning Jacket: Still not sure about this band, but this song is lovely. A little like the one Blue posted....except for, I'm guessing, the long hair and beards. ETA: Decided I love this band, so I bought two tickets. Anyone gonna be in Berkeley next Friday?

Bump!
Um, so I'm currently listening to You're Gonna Go Far, Kid by The Offspring, and In the Ayer by Flo Rida. Not sure what those say about me, but whatever.

Yes, I admit it. I'm currently listening to the soundtrack to Mamma Mia! Never much liked ABBA the first time around, but this is fab, upbeat, and great to dance to. Stinger, I'd never heard of Flo Rida, so, thanks for the (brief) education!

Big rec: I got a card of free iTunes downloads of artists who performed at Lolapalooza and was floored by "The Way it Is" by Nicole Atkins. I've been listening to it over and over, and am looking into more of her songs because of it. (Also recommending "War Torn", based on what I've downloaded so far.)

Nicole Atkins! My sister made me listen to "Carouselle" a few months ago, and I wound up putting it on loop. I don't think I've heard much more, though. I'll have to abandon my dignity and raid my sister's collection.

Dating aside (literally), this band was fantastic live. The Greek is a gorgeous setting, in the hills, with the mist falling and surrounded by eucalyptus trees. The lights form a glowing bowl and the music drifts and echoes. But the best part? The crowd was awesome. Mix of ages, friendly, a bit offbeat and really really into the music, rather than posing or partying. I kept thinking, "Wonder if there's a fandom I could join?" I'm blaming you all for this.

I would just like to thank Lostinflight! I checked out Apocalyptica's I Dont Care and fell in love with it. I'm finding their newer stuff first and will work my way back. Very unique band, what with the cello emphasis. Currently listening to Shinedown's Devour.

So I got tickets for Kings of Leon in San Francisco. Even if it's not quite your type of music, know this: they are very cute. Possibly another date opportunity. It's amazing that these two bands I'm just discovering are playing around here within the same month. (This time, I'm going to check out the fandom prior to the show. Just in case.) Plus, one was on Leno last night, the other on Letterman tonight. So, I am very up with the times. Ha!

Singlehandedly keeping the music thread alive: I'm not usually this way inclined, but this song is so heartfelt and romantic. I may be the last to know, because apparently it was a huge hit when it came out. (Guess I was doing something else at the time.) But if you're in the mood...Heard it sung at a wedding, by the sisters of one of the brides. I Knew I Loved You (Before I Met You) by Savage Garden. Don't scoff. Listen.

Continuing with my personal music thread... And because we don't have anything like this recommended yet, I'm loving Slow Down by Wyclef Jean and T. I. Fantastic lyrics, not that I totally understand. Where’d the hope go, Where’d the hope (I don’t know) I see the whole world turn into a warzone (What?) Ain’t no love in the city keep your vest on (G’ that right) Guns ‘n roses welcome to the jungle

Yea, I remember being pretty young when that song came out and really liking it. And speaking of Savage Garden, I've always liked their song, I Want You. It's pretty catchy.

Aww, Stinger, I'm so going to exalt you for posting here. Now you have the same amount of karma as number of posts, which is just ridiculous when you think about it. And I'm the "most recent post" again. Damn.

"Path" is my favorite of theirs.
My scoffing will not be denied! Smmiiiiite!
Right now I'm listening to Amy McDonald, because I heard her song "This is the Life" and really loved it, but it's way more mature than the rest of her stuff (and even the song's video, so I'm not linking to it). Also a little depressing, depending on how you chose to hear the lyrics.

I am not a country fan at all, but Taylor Swift's new song Love Story, ca.youtube.com/watch?v=z4xmxb9K8RI, is currently my favorite song. I think it's due part that I kinda wish in the happy ending fairy tale thing will actually come true once in awhile. She does have a very pretty voice, imo, too. That's awesome, randomnation, I'm glad you liked. I still can't figure out how not to show the actual url adress though.

Continuing on my quest of One Live Show Each Month: Kings of Leon, We Are Scientists, and The Stills at the Warfield in San Francisco last night. Don't know how to describe these bands without using perhaps even more obscure references (The Replacements? Social Distortion?) but let's just say, it's rock. Lots and lots of guitars. The Stills played in almost total darkness; KOL conversely blasted bright and often strobe lights into our faces. Great crowd, good time. November: Bishop Allen at the Independent. Dicier venue, so may have to rustle up a crowd to go.

At LAST I've finished my Buffy Season One-ending story. It didn't totally come out, but I'm posting here because it involved my gathering hits from 1996-97 for them to dance to at the Bronze. I thought some might enjoy, so here's the link. It includes the song Stinger mentions by Savage Garden, and Semi-Charmed Life, which also relates to him and a discussion we had once at TWoP about drug songs. I missed this whole era of music, which apparently included boy bands, very soft R&B, rap, alternative, and female singer-songwriters. Oh, and Brit Pop. Yeah, it's 40 songs, so you can skip through. The shorter song list, and the story, is there somewhere, too. Side effect, I can't get over this vid of the Backstreet Boys and its mind-boggling, drenching-wet shirtless, um, awesomeness. I mean, really.

. Those silly Backstreet Boys...I shouldn't like them, but I do and it makes me feel weird. Frickin songs just get stuck in my head! *downloads the Final Fantasy VIII OST* Three Days Grace did a cover of "Wicked Game" awhile back and I just found it about a week ago. If you wanted a semi-sad song featuring just a guitar and Adam Gontier's vocals...this is the song for you. ;D

Hah, last time I was here I watched all those Rammstein videos and relapsed into my old High School fandom of them. I don't know why their stuff is so cool, but it always is.
I've finally moved on, thanks to the new(ish) Franz Ferdinand CD a friend loaned me.

Loving the recs, everyone. Though to be honest, evilalex and pending, I just can't stretch to Rammstein right now. Checking out Franz F., Keane, and Three Days Grace, pretty good. But that damn Buffy playlist has infected me (sorry again, pending), so I'm all about Hanson and Tubthumping right now. I know, I know. At least I can admit it.

Stinger told me about this great band, hellogoodbye, and I'm loving them! As predicted, they are playing in San Francisco this month, at Slim's, which is a great club. I'm going to try to go, even though it is a *gasp* work night. So far, my favorite song is Homewrecker.

Now that I've listened to it for an hour straight, it's time for me to recommend 'Chelsea Dagger' by the Fratellis. And I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I'm almost sure that it was used in a Reaper promo. It's very much the show's style anyway. It's fantastic; no matter how many times I listen I still get up and jump around the room at the 2:40 mark.

Loved The Fratellis, pending, thanks for that! Except I too listened to it for an hour straight, and ever since have been singing "doop do da doop do do do de do do do" in my head. And maybe out loud a little. I'm making a "Winter Break Mix" for my staff based on songs they identified as "meaningful" to them. Giving them tomorrow as part of our "Winter Break Party." (What? We're very politically correct.) Some weird and predictable, but at opposite ends of the spectrum, I'm loving these two: The Ditty by Paperboy (90s lightish hip hop) and Easier by Joe Purdy, which I guess is singer-songwriter, really lovely.

So I'm not going to stop posting music just because I'm the only one. I just found out about this band, The Gaslight Anthem, and have been listening non-stop. I even got Stinger to spend his $0.99 at iTunes.
Oh, and I know this doesn't matter much to anyone here, but after my 30th viewing or so, I've decided they are also very cute.

Cool article from the LA Times: "My Night with Prince." Really insightful, showing--well she said it: He's unbelievable live, if you get a chance. Even if you're not crazy about his music, you'll still be blown away. And really, I wanted to post this pic.

I saw Stevie Wonder a couple of years ago and Prince played guitar on "Superstition". Excellent (both Prince's playing and the whole show).
