Having a great time, but I can't repeat it all here; check me out at Live Journal (catko) or ccatko.blogspot.com if you care for details. It's only been about 24 hours yet so much has happened. Eating, walking, more eating. But I still miss chatting with you all. I'll look for you when I can, but maybe we should make a date. I can't do Sunday rewatch since I'll be listening to my former student who is now a doctor at Columbia U. playing bluegrass with a friend. I know, it's not "me" but neither is getting a pedicure, and I got one of those for New York. More later. And...if you're in New York on Saturday, July 18, come to my party! Open house at my Greenwich Village apartment!

I am mega sorry-- I have returned from what was supposed to be 4 weeks of limited internet that turned out to be 4 weeks of zero internet. This was not my usual going AWOL, I swear! I was sure that there would be some manner of internet, and instead we were stuck in the Welsh boonies, wandering the lanes to find a 2x2 meter spot that would get cell reception.
Then to top it all off, I broke my wrist on the last day, so I'm typing half-speed as well.

This is just a quick note that due to my dad's planning (loosely used term there) I'm gonna miss the Reaper watch today. I'm really sorry, I thought I could be there. I will be here on Wed, and next Sun. Then to top it all off, I broke my wrist on the last day, so I'm typing half-speed as well. Ouch! Hope you're feeling better soon.

The break was probably good, pending. No, I mean the internet break, not the wrist, dammit. That sucks. Nice to see you, anyway, we've missed you!

Instead of my New York Renaissance, I'm thinking of calling this my summer of pashminas and cupcakes. If you don't know what I mean, go to Live Journal. catko.livejournal.com/ Funny thing, the cupcakes cost almost as much as the pashminas. I'm missing the Reaper-centric activities though. I'm so damn busy walking, shopping and eating, then uploading, editing, and posting, I have no time for anything else. Maybe once my sister leaves on Friday, and after the party on Saturday, I'll slump back into my usual ways. I kind of hope so. Intermixed with museums, seeing Harry Potter with loandbehold! and buying...stuff. And staring out the window.

Soooo...I may well have left my recharging cord at school over the weekend, and I *just* figured it out. You may not be seeing me much this weekend if I can't figure something out.

Well, I'm unable to stay up too late tonight so I just stopped by to say hi. Hope you're all ok and having a great time.
Take care and enjoy the weekend! See you later!

Ooh, blue, was wondering where you were when I peeked in, in between wild partying, New York style, eating cupcakes, and saying goodbye to my sister, who left New York today. :-( Had a great time yesterday hosting a get-together at the apt, including the Buffy TWOP MM crew. Our own loandbehold was in attendance, but you can't quite see him in this pic.

Cool, alex! Wifi on a mobile phone is never bad! And yeah, tall buildings, and these ones aren't even as tall as Midtown. It's the exact opposite of the pics I've seen of your town.

I'm in Manhattan, downtown, Greenwich Village. Here's what's cool about that: you feel like you're in the Big City, but it's pretty human-scale, since it doesn't have the blocks and blocks of skyscrapers like you've seen in the movies. Plus I think it's cooler, since the breezes flow freely. Lot of other great stuff about it, but weirdly the wi-fi that took me forever to get hooked up seems now to be patchy; sorry I just disappeared last night, blue and kathy. Well, it gave you a chance to talk about my eating and shopping rather than SIGHT-SEEING, which okay, okay, I'll do more of that. Tomorrow.

Saw Harry Potter with loandbehold at the coolest theater ever: the Ziegfield. Loved the movie, will try to post in the movie thread later. Meanwhile, this is a great video about fandom and what is good about it. It's about 30 minutes long. From the creator: "...being a fan is about more than being a passive viewer, it's about participation, it's about creation. Creation of communities, of joy and of art." Whoee! True. www.participatemovie.com/index.htmlI'm kind of falling behind in the fan thing while on vacation; does meeting-up with other fans qualify as participating? I have to catch up on Twitter and posting here. Meanwhile, I do plan to be on for the Sunday rewatch. Hope everyone is doing fine! Going to Atlantic City tomorrow!

That's great, Kali, how do people come up with these things? and blue, that bubble-wrap link is the bane of my existence. We don't have a "theater" thread! I just saw "9 to 5" on Broadway. Alison Janney played the Lily Tomlin character, and the songs were written by Dolly Parton. Great fun, even though it's closing soon. I'm having such a great time, I'm starting to get a little anxious that I only have a week and a half left. I don't want to ruin it by worrying in advance, but I kind of am. The Empire State Building, visible up the street from my apartment.

'k I;m sorry I was late to the rewatch, I missed the first bus. Am currently sitting in the a/c in my driver's ed car because it's too f-ing hot to be anywhere else - other than the movie theatre I shall be at in about a half hour.
It was 96F at 10am today.

Whew, blue, hope you're surviving the heat. It's nice here tonight, after a crazy thunderstorm that rattled the windows and set off car alarms in my neighborhood. I hope no-one got hit by the lightning like someone did the other day. Whoosh, I've been so sleepy tonight, I guess maybe the late hours and all the walking are catching up with me! Aktarian and I, and c_go for a bit, had a great rewatch of The Home Stretch, by the way. I may comment further, since I'm seeing new stuff in these old eps, but maybe tomorrow.

We never get desserts like that around here. Oh well... milk makes my stomach hurt but I bet those desserts are worth it... hehe.
Anyway, I was waiting for you guys to show up but I guess you're all busy. I'll try to be here next Saturday, in the mean time I hope you're all right and having a great weekend. Take care.

Aw, kwy, I just thought I was having a nice evening nap and the next thing I knew it was morning. I"m still trying to get my sleeping schedule straight, but don't know if it will ever happen. I miss being a night person! I don't want to be a morning person! Nice to see you here anyway. I'll be around Saturday evening for sure, unless something else develops! Which I hope it doesn't!
Anyway, school starts in a week and work is getting busy, but I'm still in the lazy summer mood, so not doing much. I have the biggest pile of laundry ever from my trip and I keep looking away.
Later I shall have some kind of summary of my New York trip. I had a great time, that's all I can say for now.

Hey Alex, congrats!
Anyway, sorry I haven't been around here that much lately, it's just that a lot of stuff is going on and I haven't been able to stop by. I was here for a couple of hours and didn't find anybody so I hope I see you all next week.
Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Hope everything is okay, kwy! We miss you. We're on a lot on weeknights, but weekends have been a little crazy. I've been out of town a lot, which is fun but really cuts into the online time. I'll definitely be around next weekend. See you then, I hope.
I'm in Los Angeles for my cousin's wedding, and we got out to the beach, which is cool. Always nice to see the ocean. Enjoying So Cal, except the air quality is so bad, you really feel it. I'll link some photos later if I ever upload them.
