pace (or anybody), any ideas about this petition language? (draft this far courtesy of blue and novium):
This petition is to request the removal of Jacob - aka TWOP Bayliss - as moderator for the Television Without Pity forums. As avid supporters of Television Without Pity, we are dismayed by the apparently capricious and vengeful actions of this moderator, whom many of us had admired and enjoyed for his love of television, fine writing, and insightful recaps.
These actions include: (banning without warning, rude language, banning posters who make appeals or support other posters, etc) the capricious and seemingly vindictive bans of members otherwise in good standing, banning members as the first resort for mild or imagined offenses, vituperative responses to innocuous questions, and tendentious censorship.
This has resulted in: (ill feeling, people leaving TwoP)
(Something about how we've been good users and customers of TWoP and want to see it survive and thrive, but it won't at this rate.)

Post 'em though, I'd love to hear them.

Excellent input from loandbehold about the petition... Helps our focus, I think. I'll work more on it this weekend; all input still welcome of course, especially about whether we still want to: 1) emphasize removal of bayliss, or 2) focus on the unfairness of the murky warnings and don't-ask-for-explanation banning.

I'd focus on the second. I'd also remove the word 'vengeful' as i think it carries the wrong connotations. There's a bias, that's the problem. I don't think he's out for revenge or anything like that.

Petition 1: This petition is to request the removal of TWoP Bayliss as moderator for the Television Without Pity forums. As avid supporters of Television Without Pity, we are dismayed by the actions of this moderator, whom many of us had admired and enjoyed for his love of television, fine writing, and insightful recaps.
These actions include: banning without warning, banning posters who make appeals or support other posters, banning members as the first resort for mild or imagined offenses, and vituperative responses to innocuous questions.
This has resulted in posters feeling nervous about saying the wrong thing; people being warned without being clear on the reasons, and afraid to ask; and people leaving TwoP due to the inconsistencies of moderator actions.
We have been loyal members and customers of TwoP, and want to see it thrive, but are very concerned that the site won't survive under these conditions.
Petition II: This petition is to protest the actions of moderators at Television Without Pity with regard to the policies for warns and bans. It has been the experience of many posters that: -We are subject to warnings without clear explanations. -The terms of the warnings are unclear. -When we ask for clarification, this can be seen as challenging or argumentative, and can lead to further warnings or outright bans. -Posters who question actions against, or come to the defense of, fellow posters, are themselves subject to warns or bans.
If the people being warned can't understand why they're being warned for a particular post, and then get banned if they ask in a respectful way for a clarification, then the warnings lose their meaning.
We would like to request the following: -More clarification on the nature of warns and bans. -An opportunity and a process to inquire for more information about specific warns and bans. -An arbiter at TwoP with whom posters can lodge appeals.

If we're voting on which petition, my vote would be for Petition II.

Thanks, loandbehold. Not sure at this point whether we're choosing or doing both...but your words were really helpful, as you can see. Meahwhile, everyone, all edits and suggestions welcome!
