Damn, I should've paid more attention to the "don't go to these" disclaimer. Now I wish I could take back the stern letters I've written and make them nastier. I'll angry up the blood you! Whether that makes sense or not! *shakes fist*

I need a mission statement. Something a lot more diplomatic than "This site is dedicated to letting Bravo know how much TWOP sucks."

Pending, I warned you! But write down your thoughts. We can use them. Everyone else, don't look. Blue, that language looks good, plus your other post. I have some notes from the other night that I'll post in the next few days.

Wow, Blue, looking at that Charlie site is making me sad--the candles--and I never even watched that show.
Just to check. Is that site a model in length of blurb and content for what you're thinking of for this one? I know the tone would be different. --Mission/purpose --Why this is a problem --What you can do (like your bullet points above) --Download label/ postcard whatever --Links? to other sites? I know you were thinking to NOT have comments. Just in case the other disaffected people are crazier than, well, we are.

Don't even get us started on how devastating his death was. Charlie was as real to us as a fictional character could possibly be and it felt like we were literally fighting for his life. His death was a blow and caused some serious and very real grieving, five stages and everything. I'd never been so angry at a show. No character death had ever affected me like that before and probably never will again, and characters die on Lost every other week.
But anyway, back to your regularly scheduled mission. Sorry to intrude.

No, pace, that helps, actually. To remember that even with a Bitter/Revenge/Advocacy site, it's for people who have strong feelings about something, in this case TWoP, and are looking for a way to vent, some support, and an action they can take.

To remember that even with a Bitter/Revenge/Advocacy site, it's for people who have strong feelings about something, in this case TWoP, and are looking for a way to vent, some support, and an action they can take. It did help to get us through a stressful time that's true, because it gave us the illusion of control, we felt like we were doing something, even if the decision was already made. And I have no regrets, because in the end we heard from Dom Monaghan who told his fans it was a hard period for him too and the fan campaign and support helped him to get through it, so it was totally worth it.

That's amazing. Of course there isn't really anything analogous here.
But is does make me rethink the "no comments" idea. Not that we want to have to moderate a rant thread (another rant thread) but for people to communicate with each other. .. maybe instead of lighting a candle...what could people do?
Everything I can think of involves punching something, setting something on fire, or blowing something up. All virtually, of course.

Well, didn't Elvis shoot a TV out with a gun once or something? Virtually of course. Only he really did it.

...shoot a TV out with a gun... ! ...for some reason I rather like that image...but it's probably too violent. Maybe a picture of dropping Tubey? Pretty much. The more we talk, the less likely people will continue to read - unless it's broken up like the freewebs site. I wasn't really thinking about links though. Maybe a secondary petition? A generic one to Bravo about TWOP? People can leave comments on those.

So, the layout's here-- I still have the Photoshop file saved, so text, colors and spacing can all be changed relatively easily. The host's spotty, though (working on finding a more reliable one), so you may not be able to see it. Just keep checking back.

DRAFT
Warned? Banned? Fed up and frustrated? Disappointed in the downturn in a once-great site?
We're here to help.
This site is for people who love (and hate) television; watch lots of tv, movies, and DVDs; and (used to) love to visit TwoP to share their opinions with other consumers of mass communication. And yet are now disillusioned by the actions of capricious moderators and unclear posting and complaint policies.
We believe that posters have the right to: --Be treated with dignity and respect in communications with the moderators. --Air grievances without fear of retribution. --Communicate with someone at TwoP if dissatisfied with their treatement by a mod.
If, as a consumer, you are unhappy with TwoP, you may stop going to t he site. Even if you decide to continue to visit TWOP, you are less likely to: · Click on revenue generating links. · Purchase Television Without Pity products. · Recommend the site to other people. Fewer visitors = fewer eyes on the advertising, including entertainment products from Bravo.
All of this prevents Bravo from profiting from you and your friends as customers, and Bravo should be informed of this. It is even possible that the ill-will generated by TWOP behavior may spill over to other Bravo products. To contact Bravo:
For email, click here. (http://www.bravotv.com/Contact_Us/index.shtml)
For snail mail: Television Without Pity c/o Bravo Viewer Relations 3000 W. Alameda Ave., Suite 250 Burbank, CA 91523
Download mailing label (or postcard?) here.
Choppy. Too dramatic? Too long? Help. Also can talk in Chat for a little while ...

Just a suggestion:
DRAFT #2
Warned? Banned? Fed up and frustrated? Disappointed in the downturn of a once-great site?
We're here to help.
If you're a member or former member of Television without Pity (TwoP), who loves to share opinions and discussion with other consumers of mass media, but has become disillusioned by the actions of capricious moderators and confusing posting and complaint policies, then read on.
We believe that posters have the right to:
--Be treated with dignity and respect in communications with the moderators. --Air grievances without fear of retribution. --Communicate with an administrator at TwoP if dissatisfied with their treatment by a mod.
A dissatisfied member is like any consumer. That member may choose to stop visiting TwoP, or be less likely to click on revenue generating links, purchase TwoP or parent company Bravo's products, or recommend the site to other people.
All of this affects Bravo's bottom line. When fewer visitors equals fewer profits, Bravo cares. Therefore, if you're an unsatisfied member or former member of TwoP, let your voice be heard! Write and share your story.
To contact Bravo:
For email, click here. (http://www.bravotv.com/Contact_Us/index.shtml)
For snail mail: Television Without Pity c/o Bravo Viewer Relations 3000 W. Alameda Ave., Suite 250 Burbank, CA 91523

Pace, perfect. You resolved the part about what we want them to do and why. More comments still welcome OF COURSE. We'll probably finalize by end of weekend.
Now can you help me with my fic?

And Blue, sorry, I keep forgetting stuff from Chat: oym will do a pic or image or something for the postcard/form/mailing label, but: --Is it a postcard, form letter, or just mailing label?
If we post or link to that, it's one way to emphasize snail mail. But if it's a form letter or postcard it needs to be drafted. Want me to do?
I have this mental image that the West Coast women and late-night boys loll around here in the wee hours then stumble off to bed, and pace comes in bright and early, picks up the beer cans, empties the ash trays, and gets us all back on track.
And everyone else who pitches in, too. Thanks.

The host's spotty, though (working on finding a more reliable one), so you may not be able to see it. Hey Mark ~ if you can, can you get an address that includes both Television Without Pity *and* TWOP? That we can make double sure that if someone googles either term, we'll come up.

What about the title "Help Mop Up TWoP"? That gets rid of the appearance of promoting not going to the site anymore. Might be more inviting.
And either today or tomorrow I'll put up a mock of my thoughts on a possible website format.
