Per our (cko, oym, stinger and I) discussion last night, here's the thread for ideas. Pace, this is kinda like making the Save the Junkie, Save the World site we made for The Peanut Butter Campaign. Only in our case, more of a "Burned by TwoP? Here's what to do and who to write." First thing's first. A name.

... Stop TWoP and Roll? And then we could have a little image of Tubey on fire! Creepy? Is that over the creepy line?

I'm no good at this kind of thing. That idea is ok for starters. I like the fire image. But I never think of TWOP as "twop". In Denver I visited a friend I met online and she kept calling it T-Wop and that was bugging me. She was the one I asked to confirm the Jacob/Bayliss identity deal. I hinted at the problem--no names used--and will see if she has any thoughts; she's pretty tight with him, virtually of course. Anyway I'll leave the web name decision to those cleverer than I.

Heh, that's cute oym.
Whatever name we pick though, somehow we'll have to add something that's easily googled. When people are ticked, they aren't going to google "Stop TWOP".

Being an almost! law student, I have to ask: could we be sued?! I really don't think we should make this place about TwoP. It's really just a cool Reaper board that belongs to us. Focus on the positive. Not everyone would want to come here and just gripe. They'll come if its a good place to talk about Reaper.

Second-- I fully support having the complaint resources up, because we *are* sort of living in self-selected exile here. But if we spend our time stewing over it, we really do end up looking like a bunch of bitter rejects. The best revenge is living well.

Being an almost! law student, I have to ask: could we be sued?! For what? We're not stealing copyright on anything (especially if we don't use the Tubey logo), nor are we advocating breaking the law. Heck, we're not even advocating doing anything on the site itself. In fact, we're going around them. This is nothing more than a "Save Our Show" campaign, only in the negative. Like a "Get Rid of So and So Character". All we're doing is making a site that informs people their options when they're frustrated. Everyone has the right to send in a letter of complaint to the manager of a restaurant, as well at the owner company, and (if wanted) the suppliers of the food the restaurant uses. Besides, there are a ton of anti-Twop sites, both in livejournal, but other boards as well. People are legally allowed to criticize something they don't like.

I think they're talking about a separate webpage just for the advocacy/bitter/revenge theme.
I do like the living well is best revenge theme. That was my motto during this recent Denver wedding ex-with-his-new-girlfriend event. Which apparently I have a few more feelings about than I thought, since I seem to keep mentioning it.

I really don't think we should make this place about TwoP. I don't want to either, but I *do* at least want to get this project up if some people are willing to help. I don't think it'll take long. After all, the reason we came here to begin with is because of what happened (and what's happening) at TWOP.

True dat. And now that I've been good and banned for PMing the mod that I don't agree with his/her behavior, I'll admit that I've had a few bittertastic moments. But giving into that just ruins the light-hearted fun that we all enjoy about the show. Think of it this way: What Would Steve Do?

But giving into that just ruins the light-hearted fun that we all enjoy about the show. Think of it this way: What Would Steve Do? Sacrifice a pot-selling dude from the park? We need to fix the quote system. The box isn't appearing around the quoted text, which is making it a little difficult to differentiate between what's a quote and what's the actual body of the post.

The box is there but its very light. It's easier to tell the quoted text because its in the smaller font. But you can try other skins and see if it looks better for you.
I think its great that we all took out TwoP lemons and made lemonade, but I also agree with the philosophy that we should take the high road and make this an awesome place to be.

Like I said it's there but its very light against the light background. Depending on your screen resolution it may not show up as clearly.

I'm seeing big, thick black lines around the quote boxes along with the smaller text; so it's coming through nice and clear for me.
Also, if we do (and I'm not saying we have to, nor do we have to sacrifice a pot dealer Stinger) create a thread for TWoP, can we call it "The Devil's Rejects"? Just because. Though I stand by my vote to keep this place on the up-and-up.

... Stop TWoP and Roll? And then we could have a little image of Tubey on fire! Creepy? Is that over the creepy line? Okay, I've been thinking about this, and I really love the fire idea. Burned by Twop. I wish there was some way we could change 'roll' to 'troll' and still make it work though. And maybe 'warn' or 'ban'.

So, who all got banned from TWOP? I have apparently been missing out; I thought it was just the one random guy that showed up. Guess not.
I'm loving the layout for the boards. The red border is a nice touch.

I think actual ban is just blue and pending. But oym and pace got warnings, maybe others? Not me, yet. I'm still waiting...

. Wow. Well, I guess I still have you guys beat. Remember, I used to go by ShadowMagist, but then I got banned by Barnes. *grumble* They really...need to lighten up. Who knew snarking on HoYay would be cause for banning? I didn't.

Ahh, Blue that was you? I'm sorry. They kind of freak when you question...anything. Have you noticed? . I'd already been banned by Bayliss over a week before that, for something we'd been doing for aeons on the old Reaper board, which Barnes had no problem with. If you didn't notice, I pm-ed you as "Blue Sunflower s".

So...wording.
Should be polite and to the point. All I can think of for now is "You have the right to air your grievance without fear of retribution" and "You have the right to be treated with dignity and respect in your communications with the mods." I also think we should give tips on what to include in the letter. Especially stuff like Bravo losing money and customers. After all, people leaving the site loses potential TWOP ad revenue, plus a potential loss of viewers for Bravo. Even if people continue to go to TWOP after their warn or ban, they are still far less likely to click on the ads or buy any of the merchandise. Not to mention word of mouth prevents people from coming over in the first place.
I might add that I am also thinking of possibly creating a petition to fire Bayliss from his moderating duties, as a separate issue.
