This is a slightly different angle on the issue from the Toronto Star, Saturday April 25: The article also says " Downturn in economy could save faltering shows--'On the bubble' series may get reprieve as they cost less than launching new ones" Which, yeah, you'd think.

Oh Oh Oh! FINALLY! Since the HR article declaring Reaper "gone" I have been waiting for Variety to weigh in - since they're also the other biggie who would have access to the "insider info" that HR does. and YAY it is not bad: Granted, it's not all too good, but at least it's not a REAPER IS GONE. I may very well have given up if it had. www.variety.com/article/VR1118002924.html?categoryid=1275&cs=1And also, stupid TVByTheNumbers: tvbythenumbers.com/2009/04/28/the-cws-show-bubble-popped-long-ago/17601I can't believe he's claiming the only question is whether The Game will go an hour long. Like that will ever happen. And if it does - fuck, they got even WORSE numbers than Reaper and Privileged. And don't tell me it's because it was on Friday. Like it would get better numbers on any other day of the week against anyone else like AI - unless we're talking maybe Sunday. <rolls eyes>

More bad news: According to the CW, Cubs vs. Diamonbacks baseball aired on the CW in the Chicago Market, which means finals should drop even lower.
AND to top off this lovely ratings day:
Net Show 18/49 18/34 Millions
CW Reaper 0.8/2 0.7/2 1.953 CW Reaper 0.6/2 0.5/2 1.684

I can tell you the Portland and Houston markets would not have been watching the CW. The game was close at that point. And I feel compelled to point out that since the playoffs and Reaper share the same demo - particularly in males, I'm really not all that surprised by the numbers anymore. We were only down, like 200,000 - which has pretty much been the way the ratings have fluctuated. And they should never do % for the CW, since a lot of the time losing just *one* viewer will bring a loss of 100% the initial numbers are so low. The only reason this is getting some alarm is because it went down below the 2 million mark. I don't really recall everyone saying we were "creamed" last week when we also lost about 200,000. Not saying the numbers were good by any means, but man. There *are* logical reasons to explain it.

Hollywood Reporter: I know in Portland, the local NBC affiliate aired the game, and I'd presume a local channel aired it in Houston. Ditto for the other cities playing. So not only were the network shows competing in ALL markets against the NBA on cable, but at least in 4 markets they were ALSO competing with the NBA on a local station. Also, Well...at least it's not a "they suck" comment.

90210 airs after Reaper, right? It gets worse ratings, right? Reaper is up against American Idol (21 million f*cking viewers, hello!), and still holds it's own, correct? Reaper definately deserves another 13 episode season, maybe airing after 90210 or Gossip Girl (to get the female viewers the CW so badly wants), and not up against American Idol. If they have all that, and have it return in September or November (not a whole bloody year later after people have forgotten about it), we might be able to average 3 million viewers next season. Then maybe the CW will order 2 more full seasons that the showrunners say they are now ready for.
I wonder if the CW realizes this or maybe they just hate the show. If they hate it so much they should really just hand it off to another network where it will get a fighting chance.

Sons of Tucson sounds interesting actually, I'm getting a Coen Brothers vibe from the summary. I have a feeling I'm going to need a new TV show next year so I'll have to check it out.

Last, and very least, were CW dramas Reaper (Viewers: 1.99 million; A18-49: 0.9/ 3), which has no chance of a pick-up for next season, and already renewed 90210 (Viewers: 2.05 million; A18-49: 1.1/ 3), which should not be returning. Results among the CW’s target women 18-34 was a 1.1/ 3 for Reaper (#4) and a 2.5/ 7 for 90210 (#4). While growth for 90210 out of Reaper in the demo is a positive, the fourth-place finish is not.

Yeah, I just don't see "Sock" (because that's pretty much how I see Tyler in real life... hehe) as a dad... Seriously.

I would love to watch my favorite TV shows online, but I'm always greeted with a "This feature is not available in your country" message or some other crap like that.

So, as it turns out, 90210's finale is this week. I thought we'd be getting a 2 hour Reaper event thing, sort of like last year, but as it turns out, the CW is premiring one of their reality shows after our finale. Not sure if that'll help/hurt our ratings, but I thought it was interesting.
