I sincerely doubt it matters. Remember, I - and everyone else - got seriously attacked and dismissed over there for defending Reaper's premiere numbers, so the ReaperDMV name is already "sullied". Robert whatshisname was pretty clear he thought anyone who wrote anything (including published newspaper articles) positive about the premiere or its numbers must be a fanboy, and he's not into all that. He's into the numbers. (Which, btw, is a total lie.) As "ratings and only ratings rule" people, they wrote one hell of a wrong post there, and the scary thing is that they don't seem to realize it.

Besides, IMO it's always better when fans acknowledge the truth rather than live in denial. That makes you a fan, and not a fanboy. You may set up camp in Egypt, but if you're actually living there that's another thing entirely. There is a vast difference between being optimistic with reason and being optimistic because you're blind to the facts around you. In other words, write to the CW now and tell them you want Reaper for another season.

Check this out, folks:

The CW capped off this final Tuesday in March with its losing combination of Reaper (Viewers: #5, 2.37 million; A18-49: #5, 1.0/ 3) and 90210 (Viewers: #5, 2.04 million; A18-49: #5, 1.1/ 3), which has not benefited by moving back one hour.

300,000 more total viewers than 90210 even though our entire hour is up against Idol? Only .1 below 90210 even though, again, we're up against Idol for the entire hour? That's awesomeness.

We also apparently had a better demo # (1.0) than a rerun of Better Off Ted on ABC (0.9). I guess that's not that exciting but, when our show beats ANYTHING on an actual network, it's a little impressive. Even if it's a rerun of something.

OMG that's amazing!! Now that 90210 is back, it's so gratifying to see Reaper outperforming it. They can't cancel it now can they?

I hate to admit this but I think this time slot is one that really works. They were right that 90210 would have lost many more viewers to AI than Reaper does. And if Reaper gets higher ratings each week, I don't see how they can justify letting it go.

So we actually only dropped a touch which is rare for us (we usually dip quite a bit). And take a look at 90210's half-hour breakdown:

- 1.999 million viewers
- 1.4/2 HH

I might point out though, that I think 90210 is up against the "cast off" part of AI, when it's more likely viewers will switch over. Also, rather disappointing (but not surprising) that we didn't beat their 18-49ers. I won't be surprised if 90210's DVR - or actually, streaming/iTunes - numbers put them at a larger % than Reaper. I'm still disappointed Reaper is doing so poorly in that area. Last year we were Top 5, now we're not even really making Top 10.

An interesting rant I came across:

I'm so glad that Reaper is back; I've sung the praises of this show before, but I didn't quite realize how much I really missed this show until it finally, finally came back on. (Becca says it's also her favorite show on TV right now.) I especially like the inclusion of Nina, Ben's demon girlfriend. I'm just amazed at how little this show can think of to do with Andi. I was disappointed to see that the show's creators were apparently going to leave the show to go do some crap on Fox that'll probably be canceled quickly (I mean, that's what Fox does). Does this mean Reaper is going away? But it's so good, damn it.

(That said, I need to air one of my usual complaints: WGN cannot be a CW affiliate and continue to show sports. I'm sorry, it's one or the other, guys. I only watch one damn show on the CW, and I'm sick of having to TiVo several different shows on Tuesday night just because I know Reaper won't air at its "special" time of 10:30 Central because baseball ran over. Knock it off. You guys have actually made me feel sorry for Chicago-area 90210 fans. Not just because they choose to watch 90210, but because most Tuesdays they have to catch it at somewhere between 11:30 and 1:00 am because the Cubs needed extra innings to lose.)

, pee on a stick pregnancy test...I was watching it on Tuesday with my family cause we'd ordered pizza and when those commericals went on I just couldn't eat that delicious hot pizza anymore...then Reaper came back on and I got an appetite again.
And I'm very tomboyish, I wouldn't really care what the girls on the show wear but I would totally rush out to buy that nerf gun if my mom would let me (she's says no because she thinks I'll stop playing it five minutes after I get it, true but it'd be damn fun while it lasted!!) and my little brother definitely wants that remote controlled monster truck whenever we see that episode on DVD.

Interesting article. Reaper's number is 2.05 million, slightly below 90210 this time (2.13 million). But spec is that 90210 gained because Tori Spelling finally put in an appearance. Stunt casting!

But the chances that Reaper will return are better than they seem. While the 2.28 million viewers might seem tiny, that's 2.28 million against "the death star," otherwise known as American Idol. With The CW's other struggles, there's a reason why they've already renewed Smallville and Supernatural. The truth is that Reaper came in as a midseason replacement against American Idol and still did better than many of the more hyped shows. Now the bigger question is "If Reaper does get another season, will it be as much fun as it was under Butters and Fazekas?"

Really, really, really bad news. From the Hollywood Reporter:

Over at the CW, "Reaper" is gone, while the prospects for "Privileged" have improved, and the show is now considered for a possible midseason order.

I'll try and spin this as best I can. A) It's new, so no official word from the CW yet. I will let you know when there is; B) News of Reaper's death was premature last season as well IIRC; and B) Maybe, just maybe, the show will be picked up somewhere else.

Don't stop writing just because of this hit. In fact, it's even MORE imperative that you write ASAP. I also recommend commenting on the "Reaper is Dead" stories that are likely to come out. Needless to say, I will also be posting over at the ABC Studios boards.

Don't forget to spread the word and reach as many fans as we can.

Due to playoffs, our numbers will most likely be down this week. St. Louis doesn't seem to be airing Reaper (it will be Saturday instead) and kathyk said their TVGuide didn't have it on either.

Numbers for yesterday were good, if they hold up. The average total for the hour was 2.45 million, 200k more than 90210 and the second highest rating for a season 2 episode. Demo numbers were 1.0 (18-49) and .9 (18-34). We beat ABC on the 18-34 demo.

I made a bit of an effort to actually watch the commercials last night, and yeah - totally for the younger crowd, not to mention a ton of local, which worried me quite a bit. If I'm seeing an ad for ITT Tech from Portland (which I did), that's not very good.
