I think I've heard somewhere that American Idol wasn't on that day. If that's true then the ratings weren't all that good, although having a constant average of 2 million viewers is great, in my opinion.

Well, considering the show hasn't hit 2 million since April 22nd, I consider it a success. A minor success, but one nonetheless. The 18-49 demo is slightly lower than normal(for the episodes above 2 mill).

Yeah, but we all agree that Reaper still had more viewers than 90210 and that crap got renewed. Only because it fits with Dwarf of Snot's narrow-minded "strategy".

OK, I know most of the other shows were in rerun, but it is still nice to see this (50% higher viewership than any other show on the network):

Don't know if anyone has been watching the ratings on the reruns. While they are not overwhelming, for what it is worth, last Sunday's episode drew 900k, which was an increase (15%) from the 1st episode rerun of 725k. So somebody is still watching. Wouldn't it be nice if that number would increase again when they rerun the finale on 9/6?
By the way, they are now showing "The Nine" on DirecTv's 101 Channel. I still think as many of us as possible should write DirecTV to pick up Reaper reruns for the 101 Channel. If they are willing to show reruns of a 13 episode series, then Reapers 31 episodes should be appealing. Who knows, if they get enough viewers, maybe they would back a season 3 in 2010? It worked for Friday Night Lights.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but this from Metacritic "Best Shows of the Decade" (cool site, btw, they collect reviews from all over for movies, TV, etc) "Two other first-year shows topped the 80 mark — indicating "universal acclaim" from critics — but didn’t finish on top in their season: the HBO/BBC Ricky Gervais comedy 'Extras,' and the CW fantasy 'Reaper'."

We couldn't remember the ratings for Reaper repeats during the main part of its run (not necessarily the Sunday burn off times that wd quotes, above), but stinger dropped by to say that the CW's "Life Unexpected" is getting kudos for getting 1.43 million viewers for a repeat, yes, kudos!

CKO, these are the numbers I have (in millions); I think in most cases they are live plus same day DVR watch numbers:
Original Broadcast 1st Time Rerun 2nd Time Rerun Pilot 3.009 1.964 1.534(5/27) Charged 2.712 1.527 1.564(6/3) All Mine 2.478 1.547 1.275(6/10) Magic 3.130 1.511 Blob 2.441 1.832 1.774(6/17) Leon 2.299 1.974 Bullets Blacktop 2.230 1.815 (2/26) The Cop 2.230 1.533 (2/28) Ashes 2.240 1.603 (3/6) 1.287(6/24) Cash Out 2.328 1.662 1.257 (7/1) Hungry 2.256 1.728 (4/1) 1.186 (7/8) Unseen 2.741 1.710 (4/8) 1.529(7/15) Acid Queen 2.633 1.591 (4/15) 1.250(7/22) Rebellion 2.036 1.260 (7/29) Coming to Grips 2.380 1.070 (8/5) Greg 2.315 1.080 (8/12 - vs the olympics) The Leak 1.887 882 (8/19 - vs the olympics) Cancun 2.301 1.636 (8/26)
The dates on which they were rerun are shown in brackets; remember that this was the strike season. The "Pilot" thru "Leon" first reruns were in December thru February before the new episodes came back in March. The average live + same day total for the reruns shown in January thru April, 2008 was 1.691 million. The summer rerun average (usually the third time the episode had been shown) was 1.340 million.
On a Reaper related topic, I was looking at current Vancouver production schedules yesterday and it looks like "Life Unexpected" is being filmed at Reaper's old studio at 4210 South Phillips in Burnaby.

Ah, ratings. I don't understand them, but I get the overall point. Sadly, with The CW clearly sabotaging the show from (almost) the start--as has become clearer from subsequent interviews and reports, such as Patton Oswalt's--I'm not sure "saving the show" was the issue. Sigh.

I'm not sure saving the show was the issue. Sigh. Which sucks, since it's likely the only reason it got an S2 was because of the writer's strike, when in reality it deserved an S2 based on its own merits.

Couldn't help but notice how well the CW shows are doing this week compared to Reaper last year at this time: Reaper's average audience last year was 2.1 million (range 1.71 to 2.69) vs:
Life Unexpected at 1.96 million; Gossip Girl at 1.86 million; 90210 at 1.58 million; Melrose Place at 1.0 million; Fly Girls at 1.22 million; and High Society at .91 million.
Dawn really improved the CW schedule by cancelling Reaper, didn't she? Even using her coveted 18-34 women's demo; with those numbers some of these shows have to be worse than Reaper's range of .7 to 1.1 last year. Melrose Place, which essentially replaced Reaper, has been averaging 1.0 million fewer viewers than Reaper the last few weeks.

We have our answer already. TV-By-The-Numbers just posted the finals for Wednesday. As mentioned, Reaper's 18-34 women demo ranged from .7 to 1.1 in the second season. Yesterday the premiere of Fly Girls turned in a .8 and High Society turned in a .5. Way to go Dawn!
Also, the finals show Fly Girls with a total audience down to 1.162 million and High Society down to .792 million. This with a lead in from America's Top Model!

Yesterday the premiere of Fly Girls turned in a .8 and High Society turned in a .5. Way to go Dawn! How she still runs the network is a mystery I will never solve.
