Interesting cheesecake analogy, blue. The debate over mytharc v. Story of the Week is such a characteristic one; I see it even at the BSG forums of all places. The Futon Critic article stinger linked addresses that very point--that the show is plenty enjoyable when it's just "Monster of the Week with a slacker mentality." millions who simply tune in every week and don't go on the internet to obsess over their show Wait, what are you implying???

Maybe. But I was getting pretty bored when the show was doing that for the first half of S1, and I think plenty of other people were too, and relieved when the show picked itself up and started doing mythology work. If nothing else, I doubt the show will survive in that mode, if only because the critics will go back to pounding their "it's boring and formulaic" drums.

Have they seen episodes beyond 2 and 3? How do we know that they just dont adresss the arc in one episode and pick it right back up afterwards? I don't think we can necessarily assume that it's going back to the MotW formula just yet. I'd be disappointed though if that were the case. The rebellion arc was fantastic(let us remember that they dropped it for a sec. with Greg Schmeg), so that could be the case here.
In any event, 2 days away!!!!

I've actually enjoyed the earlier episodes more (well some of them) seeing them the second time than I did originally, because when I saw them a second time, I was able to see how they fit into a larger story, and weren't just same old, same old.

I don't think we can necessarily assume that it's going back to the MotW formula just yet. ITA, and we *do* know that they don't "just drop it" as they cover the story in Ep. 2 - which the FutonCritic doesn't have. I bitched about it here in more detail. And heh, stinger. I was gonna knock ya for 15/15, but then I went back and realized I attributed the thing to Zap2It. So you're in the clear.

An indepth interview with Michele and Tara. And it's pretty indepth. Warning for spoilers, although excluding the Andi, Morgan, and Gladys questions, I don't think it's anything that hasn't already been released.

Blue there is an interview with Bret in today's Boson Herald. No major spoilers but he talks about how he would like Sam's personality to change.

Can't say they never did nutin' fer us: The TWoP blog has Reaper in its 'spotlight' for tonight. Although, I think the guy who posted it does/did the AI recaps, so maybe he's just planning his escape. Review of the show is lukewarm, nothing new compared to the others we've been reading (AGAIN WITH THE CHUCK).

And it got a spot on the home page! With a bit of the sexy Sam picture, which will hopefully draw in some people.
pending you are a brave person for boldly going to TWoP. I still sneak in the back way to a couple of boards, but otherwise I can't quite bring myself. Still, yay!

OMG THE NEWS THE NEWS!!!! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!!!!! My next post is gonna be nothing but links. H-O-L-Y C-R-A-P!!!! There was one mention at TWOP I totally ignored. It was some moron trying to write a "funny" blog about how they'd petition the government to change the days of the week in order to accomodate his viewing schedule, and one request was to get rid of Tuesdays so that he could avoid Reaper.

I don't recommend the 'popmatters' one-- what the hell is up with the Marxian reading of a CW dramedy?

I'm just glad AV Club is still recapping/reviewing, since I joined there so I could comment. Quite a lot of Reaper love, by other fans I'm assuming, unless some of you are scottleb, dorkinfo, or novium. Novium! I keep hoping that doggedly commenting at these various sites will help encourage them to keep writing and reviewing. We'll see...

More funny comments, thought some of you'd enjoy this from Less than 2% by jwaldman, because it has that appealing anti-CW flavor: ETA: OH! I always forget about Metacritic, which collects newspaper/magazine reviews (even though I was once addicted to this site). Eh, not the best ratings, but viewers can vote, and comment, so I recommend people do! And, cute but totally incomprehensible "review" from a blog that I guess has a language barrier? Titled He Works Malice Bachelor Milk, Cereals Reaper:
