Tyler signs on to FOX pilot!

Meanwhile, "Reaper" cast member Tyler Labine has signed on to star in the Fox comedy pilot "Sons of Tucson."

Labine will play a thirtysomething man who's hired by a group of boys to portray their father while their real dad is in jail. Twentieth Century Fox TV and J2TV are behind the pilot.

Since the show's on the bubble, I'm guessing he's just bracing himself incase it does get cancelled. But Reaper takes priority, so if Reaper does get a third season, he'd have to drop the other project.

Yeah, if Reaper gets renewed, Tyler's already contractually obliged to return.

And odd, I could have sworn the article I read about it last week was that it was a movie and not a pilot.

Well...according to Tyler's latest TVGuide interview (I put it in Spoilers No More in Season Two despite it being chockful of spoilers; it *is* TVGuide after all), it's going to be quite the ongoing story, so I'm guessing she's as least stretching through the 13 episodes, even if she doesn't appear in every single one.

I'm guessing one of the wrap up endings is that whole Sock-asks-her-dad-for-hand-in-marriage crap Tyler was talking about, since the two *do* eventually get together.

I was happy to see King Charlie the rabbit survive this episode; I was wondering if my shows had severe bunny issues. Maybe Anya from Buffy is writing Heroes and Reaper now? by nolebucgirl.

It was also good to see Andi helping out Sam for once on Hell-related business. I still don't think the writers know what to do with Missi Peregrym, but having her join this show's version of the Scooby gang and offering a less juvenile perspective on soul-hunting seems as good a direction as any. by Alan Sepinwall at nj.com.

Why the heck is Reaper classified as a drama? It has no chance in the same category as BSG, you can't compare those shows as dramas. Reaper's a comedy. That made it hard.

Heh, I've gotten in the habit of listening to Kevin Smith's (rambling, self-promoting, profane) podcasts at smodcast and in the latest one he briefly mentions Reaper, since his latest deal is he directed a movie A Couple of Dicks that he did not write, which is causing a bit of a stir. He says that it's no big deal, since "Reaper kind of kicked the door in for directing something that someone else wrote." Wish we could get him to mention Reaper more often.

Lukewarm but still affectionate recap/review at AV Club. I still think we should encourage each other to post on some of these more main sites (as opposed to miscellaneous blogs, though I think we should post there, too). It's obvious the writers read the comments; the posters seem to be a different circle than the ones we know here or at TWoP; and I still believe it's a good way to keep interest in the show and be sure they keep recapping/covering it. I actually joined over there, because I rather like it, but you can post without joining.

The episode was directed by Tom Cherones, an old pro who oversaw 56 episodes of NewsRadio and 81 episodes of Seinfeld, including “The Contest.” It’s no coincidence that the jokes felt a little sharper tonight, and were nicely underplayed. I loved how Nina was nonchalantly wiping blood off her hands when Ben stopped in. (She stopped for takeout, she explained.) I also liked the bit about Ray Wise tempting alcoholics and sex addicts. (Sexaholic meetings get a little messy, apparently.)

Buzz: Yeah, I appreciate the silliness of Reaper so much because it’s refreshingly different from everything else on TV right now.

Ray Wise: It is, isn't it? I mean, it’s pretty much all by itself, I think. I call it a horramedy: It’s horror, drama and comedy, all wrapped into one. . . . And I don't think there are any other horramedies on television! And even in the movies there aren’t many horramedies so we’re pretty much exploring that genre all by ourselves.

Reaper received some love from BuzzSugar. They had a poll for Most Unappreated Show and Reaper received several votes. I didn't recognize any screen names from this forum. I think Reaper and Cold Case are underappreciated shows. Cold case is always being delayed due to sports on Sunday. We all know that the CW loves to promote Reaper.

You have had an amazing career, Twin Peaks, 24, Charmed, Dallas, Charlie’s Angels and you did A-Team!

Ray: Yeah, I got punched out by Mr. T on that show. And at the time I was, of course, much younger and I think I could have taken him but the script said that I had to fall down.

Snerk. Mr. T beat up the Devil.

And as evil as they want us to believe the devil is, it does seem that he is genuinely proud of his son, Sam.

Ray: Absolutely, yes. He loves mixing it up with the humans here on earth. That’s his realm that was giving to him by God. The devil is the lord of air and he’s in control here on this planet. And then there’s the fact that Sam is doing a good job here on earth. He’s trying to capture those bad souls that escaped from hell and put them back where they belong and that’s a good thing.

And that’s what’s funny about the plot from the beginning… Sam’s working for the devil, but in the long run he’s making the world a safer place.

Ray: Absolutely. It’s given him a purpose, he’s not longer a slacker, and he’s doing good.

Aww. The Devil is proud of Sam. I do so love me some Ray.
