Started watching Torchwood. I'm three episodes in and I'm really hooked. I've heard series two is even better so I'm looking forward to that. With the action and the character development and the supernatural/aliens this show is right up my alley.

pace, that's good to hear, since I've heard mixed things about Torchwood from Dr. Who fans. I'm sure you've heard of this, but I have a casting spoiler question, so I'll spoiler-tag in case you're phobic. Has James Marsters shown up yet? As I've mentioned in other Save the Show and Cancellation Watch posts around here, I'm still really enjoying Castle. The chemistry among the different cast members really works, it's light and fun, and the underlying themes (to solve real crimes, the mystery writer looks for motive and narrative, the cop is all evidence-based) are intriguing. Also watching The Unusuals (another quirky cop show, this one starring Amber Tamblyn), Better Off Ted and Dollhouse.

No ck, he's in series two. Unfortunately, I'm so late to the party that I'm spoiled on most of the major plot points.

Dollhouse! Whooeeeeee! Really getting good now, just one show before the end! The Alpha reveal, even though I was casting-spoilered ages ago, the whole thing played out as such a surprise. The action was fantastic, the characters were in-character--except those who were playing another character, or more than one character--and the themes of Morality, Identity, and Technology have really gelled. Even the Doll mission with the little girl made sense this time. Now instead of being relieved that the show might end, I'm desolate. Whyyyyyy??? My latest spec: that the guy that Alpha was pretending to be was partly planted into Topher. Or vice-versa. Or there's some relationship between the two. What's up with Alpha and Echo I have no idea. Oh I know this makes no sense if you haven't been watching, and if you haven't, it's not too late!

So as we bid farewell to Dollhouse (I think) I have to tip my cap to the scale of the vision, even if not totally well realized. There's still the one "coda" episode, right? I'll have to find out what they're saying about when/how that will be shown. You know, when this comes out on DVD, I think I'd recommend it to new viewers.
kathyk and I are still watching The Unusuals, which I also recommend. Closer to standard network fare than I usually like, but quirky characters and good dialogue. Awesome scenes of NYC and cool music.
ETA: oh, and pace, RE: Topher and Whiskey, here's my spec (there's more at TWoP of course). He knew he had a thing for her as Whiskey, and that would be risky (heh) as co-workers. Maybe also the "hate" was to protect her in general? To not be too vulnerable?

It's a theory, I think it will be one of those questions that goes unanswered (like who was Shepherd Book really).

Anyone see 30 Rock last night? I've never bothered to watch it except the love of my life Elvis Costello was on in a star studded celebrity telethon for a kidney. Funny stuff, you have to watch: www.hulu.com/watch/73145/30-rock-kidney-now

cko!!!!! Have you seen the news?? I'm so glad I pre-ordered my DVDs. I thought it might help and it has!! That's why it's important that everyone pre-order Reaper season two. ETA: And it looks like it's staying on Friday nights. But the good news is it may return in the fall with a 13 episode order, so if it does well, it may get a full season. There's time anyway. If not, I'll be happy with another 13.

I'm shocked! And excited. Wow that pic from the 13th episode is really intriguing. Tahmoh looks...good. Dirty and good. I'm gonna order Reaper now, and post that idea in the Ideas thread; I'd forgotten about it.

Color me excited for the DH renewal as well. If it happens, it means it looks like three of my seven bubble shows will be returning in some form. Hopefully I haven't jinxed any by writing this.

I know, lo, and you thought you'd be 0/7 or 1/7. Which are your others? If we get Reaper, and Castle and Dollhouse, I'll be pretty happy.
ETA: I mean, I'll be ecstatic if we get Reaper, and satisfied overall to have three shows to watch.

I read that Castle was renewed. That wasn't one of mine. If I'm home and not doing anything or catching up on other shows, I'll put it on. I like NF, and the show is cute, but not appointment TV.
My 7, in no particular order: Life (gone), Dollhouse (renewed), Reaper (still hoping), Chuck (looking good), TSCC (probably dead), The Unusuals (likely gone), and Better Off Ted (haven't heard either way).

I heard Better Off Ted was renewed! And ABC is also doing the V remake, which someone good is in, but I forget who. I didn't know you were also watching The Unusuals, I'm liking that a lot and hope it might get another (half) chance.

It's true, Castle was renewed so well done Nathan and congrats cko. It's a good week for Whedonites. Should find out about Reaper this week I would think.

This BBC show, Merliln, starring Anthony Stewart Head, sounds like it could be good, starting on NBC of all places, Sunday, June 21, 8 Eastern. And, tonight starts the trilogies on ABC: the last three never-shown eps of Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, and Dirty Sexy Money. Saturdays, 10/9c.

You mean NBC is actually airing the original BBC Merlin and not making it's own sucky American version? Are the networks finally learning? Now why couldn't ABC have done that with Life on Mars? Thanks for the heads up, I'm taping the series.

I saw Merlin! Except, I forgot it was on at first, so I missed the first fifteen minutes. >.<
Still, the show was fun, and a lot better than I expected. (I'm not really into Merlin/King Arthur/Camelot/Whatever stories.) A show that distracts me from writing instead of the other way around is always a good sign.

I forgot to tell you all--I started watching Burn Notice and I'm hooked! If only I wasn't so busy shopping and eating in New York, I'd be downloading this minute and watching it non-stop. Thanks to everyone here who encouraged me to see it, especially loandbehold and deathrabbit. And pending, I adore Bruce Campbell in this. It's funny, nasty, pretty, and intriguing. I may just spend one of my New York weeks hanging at the apartment, ordering in pizza, chatting online, and watching Season Two.

One show that I really enjoyed, and was quite sad to see end this week, was Kings. The first few episodes were kind of slow moving, but it really picked up the pace and by the end I thought it was awesome.
I'm also loving the second season of True Blood. Though I do wish they'd cut back on all the orgy scenes, now they're just boring. That, and the show needs more Eric and Pam. I don't think one can ever have enough Eric and Pam.

You could always catch it on DVD, cko. The great thing is, the writers said that they wanted to tell a complete chapter of David's life, so it doesn't end on an annoying cliffhanger.
Nice to see you, too! My brother and I bought a house, which we decided to completely renovate, so that's rather unfortunately cut into my forum time.

Great summary of when different shows are premiering, by taru_crofts at the LJ comm fandom_mania. What are people planning to watch this Fall? I need help? I'm going to keep following Glee (9/9, 9 pm); Flash Forward (9/24, 8 pm); Dollhouse (9/25, 9 pm) and I don't know what else. Help!

Soooo...I've been watching a Reaper-less CW. (I know, I know -- crazy, right?)
Last Tuesday made me explode from the awfulness, much to the enjoyment of my LJ flist.
Thursday, however, made me explode from the awesomeness. If no one is watching Supernatural yet, they really should. It's one of those rare quality shows that actually manages to get a fifth season...and makes people think you're crazy if you ever use their slang. (Angel condom, anyone?)
The new show before it, The Vampire Diaries, promises to be just as good. I've read the books, though, so I've been invested with this show long before it premiered. It is NOT Twilight, despite what others say. Yeah, there's a vampire romance, but the show is much more than that. It's dark, moody, and witty, with the premiere already hinting at a few other fun supernatural bits.
...AND the ratings for The Vampire Diaries totally beat the sucky new Melrose Place. (Hello, 4.91 million viewers!) Reaper cancellation aside, there just might be hope for the CW yet.

Sorry if I don't share the joy, I'm not interested in seeing the CW succeed. I'm happy for Ian Somerhalder and I hope his show does well for his sake but as it airs opposite FlashForward (with Dom Monaghan), I won't be watching it. I'll be avoiding the CW this year.
Shows I'm watching this fall: How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, FlashForward, Dollhouse, Masterpiece Contemporary, Doctor Who (specials), V, Mad Men
Winter/Spring: Happy Town, Lost, Being Human, Doctor Who (series five)
