We also got this tidbit from virtue2 posted in this thread, who heard from a CW affiliate as follows: I received a reply from Doug Finck yesterday. He said that he received a letter from Disney saying that the new episodes of REAPER have been sold to a cable network (Disney did not disclose which one) and will not be available to broadcast stations.

Latest from Nick C: 2nd Update: Told it should be official tomorrow from multiple sources. SCI-FI isn’t saying a word of denial or confirmation however they did say “it looks good, call tomorrow.” So I’ll bug them tomorrow.
If you all want to really thank me: www.livestrong.orgAnd pacejunkie doesn't just "hope," she acts:

Guys,
I just want to thank all of you from the cast & crew of REAPER, many of them have been in touch with me through this "ordeal," and your site allowed a lot of good information to get passed on.
I'm certain they all are grateful for the support this site gave.
I'm feeling real good about it. The people who have talked to me about it are very hopeful (but superstitious it's lalaland) so we should hear something by tomorrow, and if Ausiello, etc. are half the reporters they claim to be it should be early.

Good job, Nick. Hoping this goes through. Is the entire cast onboard or will some be let go?

Wonder if it will be a 13 ep season or 22? I'd guess 22 so they get closer to syndication (though Sci-Fi would have S1/2 to reair)

We'd love to continue to be the home of cast, crew and fans alike for all things Reaper going into the new season.

Okay, so piecing it all together, from the above and Nick's blog. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. --Nick reported days ago that ABC Studios was talking to SpikeTV and SciFi for rerun package, which might boost the chances for first-run syndication, either to cable or to CW affiliates. --People heard back from CW affiliates that it sounded like a deal was being made with "a cable station" to pick up Reaper Season three, so the affiliates were out of the picture. --Jenny Wade was implying there was action happening with the actors. --Nick got a denial from Spike and just recently from SciFi. So: --It's possible that there are still moves being made "with cable"--we were just wrong about which station? --Even if the cable deal for Season Three falls through, the CW affiliates could still be interested. Whew. Roller Coaster. Still hope, though.

I am so very confused about what is happening with reaper. My brain hurts. Still, I'm fully behind Reaper 100%. It deserves to be picked up and it will be!

Ok, this is getting beyond my range. I don't have ties to cable. Unless HBO, STARZ, or SHOWTIME are looking into it, I'm not going to really know. It's why the SCI-FI and SPIKE stuff was so hard for me to get info on.
So, I suggest people who have emails saying "ABC says they sold to cable," forward that to James Hibberd at THR. Let a pro (whom helped me get a confirmation on SCI FI being a no) go after it.
I can't forward phone conversations or I'd do it. I've told him, but it will take a little more nudging I think since we both found out SCI FI is a definite "no."

Gotcha, Nick. We'll give that a try. Someone's got to know something, right?
And, gotta say, this is a little exciting. I'm commuting home from work now and I'm all worried I'll miss something. Hah! See everyone in a few!

Aw man. I wonder why Sci-Fi said “it looks good, call tomorrow.” That's pretty misleading... All I can guess is that the person I spoke with (an assistant) who said that may have been trying to make me happy. That wouldn't be a first.

So you often get assistants trying to make you happy Nick? Is that what they're calling it these days? ;D

I figured out I wasn't logged in! Sheesh. Hollywood is a land of kissass. So they say what you want to hear and give you a time to call when you can hear the truth! So "it's looking good! Call us tomorrow," really means "let me suck up, call tomorrow cus I'm just sucking up."
It's sad, but true. That's why reporters get the truth more often. The assistant don't kiss up to them!

Maybe there will be good Hell tomorrow?

virtue2, since you are the one with the email, per Nick's instructions: So, I suggest people who have emails saying "ABC says they sold to cable," forward that to James Hibberd at THR. Let a pro (whom helped me get a confirmation on SCI FI being a no) go after it. James.Hibberd@THR.com Please - everyone else, do NOT spam the man. We *will* get word sooner or later no matter how many people write in. Spamming him will only aggravate matters, not solve them. If anyone else has an email stating ABC/Disney has sold the show, please feel free to also send it in to Mr. Hibberd.

We have received word through several sources that ABC/Disney sent letters to the CW affiliates stating Reaper had been sold to cable, and (most likely) won't be available for purchase. Nick C. has spent a great deal of the afternoon trying to track down what is going on. Jenny Wade tweeted news today that she had good news, but she also was not getting all the details either. She did add that from her sources it was likely SciFi that got the show. However, it has since been confirmed that neither SyFy or SpikeTV has purchased the show. In the mean time, ABC is keeping its lips shut. It is looking like an official announcement will be made tomorrow as to the fate of Reaper. As a reminder, absolutely nothing I have written has been confirmed by OFFICIAL sources. So please keep writing in, especially to ABC. When we have official details, please be assured that will be up immediately. Please stay tuned, and hope for the best. No matter what happens though, we put up a good fight and I am very proud of our fandom. Thank you.

From Nick C: Reaper Dead? Maybe. More than likely. If it is coming back it will be without Tyler Labine
From Nick About the affiliates: My guess is that late last week, likely Friday they were forced to let some people out of their contracts. Then they told the Affiliates who were requesting contracts “we sold the show to cable,” because whomever decided a lie was better than “sorry we lead you on.”

I can't believe this. I certainly don't care if the show continues without Tyler but Nick refers to more than one contract. Who else wanted to leave?
