Hmm, Fringe and The Mentalist.* I can't believe that latter show is a hit, although I totally love Simon Baker, but not so much in that. And yes, more fans at tv.com. I wish there was a way to let them know about here.
*I'm not even mentioning that other show.

I think there is one positive side to the March 17th return. It gives us three more months to promote our show to everyone we know. I know I have been doing this. We need to get more people watching than the 2.2 million average Reaper drew for the last several episodes in the spring. I would guess if we could just get up to an average of 2.5 million, we could get a third season. Let's use these three months to our advantage.

I'm learning that personal invitations are the best way to bring people to the board. So if you find a Reaper blogger or fan online that you have the ability to contact, please tell them about us and provide a link.

That's thinking positive, wd. And pace, also a great idea. I wonder if we want a thread here about "promoting the show" for suggestions, and to brag about what we have been doing.
Not specifically "recruiting for the board," but that would be ok too--the more we can gather people on sites like ours, maybe the more momentum we can generate.

Aw, what's with the low expectations? Personally, the more I hear about this 13: Fear is Real, the more I think it would be a better pairing with Reaper, both having that horror/comedy vibe. The premise sounds funny, I might actually check it out.

The lack of showing for Reaper (2.4% as of now) in this CW voting shows that everyone has forgotten the show. I think we need to get out there and promote it over the next three months. I've put together a DVD which shows the Pilot, plus key scenes from the first season and some of the later episodes which basically brings anyone who hasn't seen the show right up to date. I've been handing these out to everyone I know in the hope that they will watch and be impressed enough to tune in starting in March. I would suggest that everyone here do the same because it seems pretty obvious that the CW is not going to do anything to promote the show.

Yay, WD. We've been voting in that poll but it's impossible to get that number up. We're trying to promote on other sites, but your idea is a great one. Keep posting other promotion ideas you have! We have, what, 91 days etc etc.

That is a great idea, pender. Maybe you can put a short catch up vid on YouTube, like the networks do for Lost and BSG before the shows premiere? We can then post it around to the fansites to tell their friends and e-mail the link to newbies.

I know, Reaper performed better than any of these. Heck, some of their reruns performed better. Why they are waiting until March to bring it back is beyond me. If they had done it by now, they would have had time to order a full season. 1.13 million for Privileged? How is that show still alive?

1/20/09:
1/22/08 (one year ago):
Look at the numbers for a new episode of Privileged compared to a repeat of Reaper. I'll say it again-- why are we not back yet?

The CW's reality competition, 13: Fear is Real, will be moving from its Wednesdays at 8PM slot to Fridays at 9PM. I assume it's due to the fact that the ratings have been completely and totally awful. Repeats of Privileged (really, CW?) will fill the slot. I'll never understand this network. So now, Tuesdays are new episodes of 90210 and Privileged and Wednesdays are repeats of Privileged and 90210. Yea, that's healthy.

That is absolutely absurd when they have Reaper waiting in the wings for a time slot, a show that gets better ratings than either of those two shows. They have more empty space than they know what to do with. Why couldn't Reaper have come back in February and gotten a longer season??

For one thing, if they start Reaper now they'll be severely lacking shows that are capable of drawing in audiences for May Sweeps. All Hail the Almighty Advertising Dollar. Second, the numbers you posted show Privileged not losing its audience at the half-hour, plus a higher 18-49 number. 90210 even doubles the 18-49 number. Third, the coveted teen demo isn't even listed, and it may be Privileged staggers in numbers there. 90210 certainly does. At the very least, Privileged has got more potential to get the teen girls' money than Reaper does.

At the very least, Privileged has got more potential to get the teen girls' money than Reaper does. Firstly, we're talking about Privileged's NEW episodes compared to Reaper's REPEATS. Posting .2 higher in the 18-49 for a new episode compared to a repeat is not healthy, however you want to spin it. Looking at the 18-34 numbers for the show, which is what the CW has been focusing on as of late, also doesn't indicate Privileged is any healthier than Reaper. And as for potential? That and a $1.50 will get you on the subway.

Firstly, we're talking about Privileged's NEW episodes compared to Reaper's REPEATS. So what? Reaper's numbers never got much higher either. In fact, they seem to be the exact same as Privileged's. 1.2/0.8 is about what Reaper did for its new episodes. Not to mention the fact that for this last week, both shows have had significant competition with American Idol and the Inauguration. Added bonus is that Privileged gains quite a lot at the half-hour. Usually that doesn't happen for a show that people insist is only carrying its audience from its lead-in. But again this leads to: First off, you don't post the 18-34 numbers. Second off, even if you did, they don't include the ACTUAL demo that the CW is going for, which is younger than 18. Third, this also doesn't include the sex of the demo, since females are far more likely to spend their money than boys - particularly on stuff like clothes, accessories, etc. It's already a proven fact GG and 90210 have a significant influence on the retail market (not to mention Laguna Beach, The Hills, etc), as well as online places like iTunes. They make a TON of money for the CW, Madison Ave., and 5th Ave. It's not a leap to also conclude Privileged helps out as well, particularly since it's the same genre. Reaper OTOH does none of those things. It doesn't even have a magazine like Smallville does in order to help boost its marketability with the girls. It's more people with more money to spend, so yeah, it *is* healthier.

I'm starting to believe you're either Dawn Ostroff herself, Blue, or her sister. Because you and I can never agree on ratings. Damn. Ratings Trend for Privileged *Scroll down for most recent numbers* Ratings Trend for Reaper (Season 1) *Scroll down for most recent numbers* But there's always those mysterious "women 18-49; 18-34", etc. numbers that get dragged out in this conversation, when, y'know, the network and Nielsen rarely release them (unless they're something to crow about). And we all know no one can fight that airtight argument. Why isn't there an eye-rolling emoticon?

It's the 7th from the right and 10th from the left when you hit reply. But there's always those mysterious "women 18-49; 18-34", etc. numbers that get dragged out in this conversation, when, y'know, the network and Nielsen rarely release them (unless they're something to crow about). And we all know no one can fight that airtight argument. Sorry, but just because we don't get that info ourselves doesn't mean it doesn't exist, or that we can ignore it as a factor in the equation. It's actually part of the parcel Nielsen gives to its clients, not to mention the CW can commission a separate study if they wish. It's not "released" that often because it doesn't make much news, not to mention that in many cases Nielsen actually prevents the info from being released. Most of the general public only cares about the general numbers, which Nielsen *does* release - at least for the top 10. If, however, you want to pay the $1000 more whatever cost to Nielsen to get the more broken down information yourself, feel free. I'd love to see exact numbers too. But really, it doesn't matter all that much since all the indirect evidence points to the shows having huge numbers in the demos the CW wants, including if they don't watch live. Which I've already gone over ad nauseum, including my last post.

Well, good news and bad news.
The good news? Reaper is coming back two weeks earlier than planned - on March 3!
The bad news, depending on how you look at it - they're putting it on at 8PM instead of 9, right in the middle of American Idol. Sigh.
At least it shows they have more confidence in Reaper than they do in Privileged. Note it'll also mean Reaper will be there for all of March "sweeps."

WHY? To me it doesn't say confidence-- it just says we're going to get buried by stupid American Idol.

I think it could be a good thing though. If Reaper is strong against AI (as Smallville was strong last week), that could justify to advertisers that "this is a solid show."
Compared to 90210's anemic numbers vs. the AI juggernaut.

But on the plus side -- MARCH 3!! The wait is shorter!!! YES!!!! Thanks reapersite, I was just coming to post this too. Here's the article I found from sci-fi wire. And no repeats! YAY! Well, everyone did say 90210 was a goofy lead-in so there's that. Maybe they heard that. ETA: Oh and another reason this is awesome is it puts the back end back where it belongs -- right in May sweeps with a finale May 26 instead of the middle of June. ETA2: Fixed the clock -- only 28 days!!! Whee!!!!

Wow, breaking news! Darn, reapersite, you stay up late. Blue, this is what we get for going to bed early for once!
As always I don't have an opinion on scheduling or competition. For some reason 8 pm seems like a better time for this show. But I guess we'll have to see. Sooner is better, yeah! Uh oh, except the icon contest. I'll try drafting something over in Season Two/Recruiting Viewers, later today. Get promoting everyone!
