So who here has seen the Loop? You can see it all here on hulu.com. The first season rocked, the second season sucked so bad I had to look away. But it did show that Bret is a terrific comic actor, he can do everything well from timing to physical humour. I really liked him in a sitcom. Now I'm finding out he can do drama too. Love it all.

Pace, thanks for the reminder about Hulu, I always forget about that. I've been wanting to check out The Loop but not to the point of actually buying DVDs. I'm going to watch it. With school starting next week, I need a couple extra hours in the day to maintain my entertainment hobbies though.
And...wow, all these threads! Fun!

Damn, I had no idea that the show was up on Hulu. Or I did at one point and forgot. Either way, though, that's great news. It was such a great show that really wasn't appreciated by Fox (or the public) and was cancelled long before its time. The second season left something to be desired (a cast exodus took place and that sucked and blew), but it was still kind of funny, even if it did lose some of its charm.

What pissed me off about the second season was the fact that they shifted the focus from his home and friends to his work. Once it became an office comedy, it was stupid because the crazy bosses were better in small doses. To me, the best thing about the show was the premise that here was this guy trying to balance a conservative work life with a crazy frat boy home life. The second season threw that concept out the window, eliminated the home life and made it all about work, but the work environment got so absurd as to be beyond belief. I couldn't buy it anymore.

Oh, exactly. The show was nearly unrecognizable when they did away with Sam's brother, Sully, and Piper and Lizzy, his two female roommates. That was the doing of the Fox execs, though, who thought the series would be better served if it just focused on Sam's workplace. It wasn't.

I tried to watch the Pilot of The Loop today, and couldn't get past the first 8 minutes. I didn't like it. It came across as so predictable, it wasn't funny. It looked fake. Even the acting was cut-out cardboard. It was just...not for me apparently. I know the site (and use it a lot but it just links to hulu... so I can't watch it. Yeah, I discovered that too. I wonder how hulu and places like that know you're not from the USA?

btw, how do you quote around here? There's a button on the top right of each post that says quote. Hit that and it will put the post in quotes in a reply window. If you want to quote from multiple quotes, just scroll down in the reply window and you'll see the previous posts. Cut and paste what you want and put quote tags around it.

Theyknow by the IP of the computer which tells them the area I'm at.. Somehow I became the expert on this on a few boards at TWoP though my ignorance could scarcely be purer. You can purchase/download IP masking programs so people can't trace back the origin of your IP. (Or, they think it's coming from somewhere else.) Google IP blockers. They are legal and mostly for security purposes. Some people out of the US were able to use these to view the US-only sites. I don't know how complicated it is, or if it's even worth it given stuff is available more broadly. The Dr. Horrible controversy ran up against this issue, and Joss and Co. resolved it with the providers. Hopefully that's where it is going in the future. And that's all that I know about that.

Sorry, nighteyes, but the best I can find right now is BitTorrent where you can download them for $1.99 each. Have you checked your local library? I was able to get Grounded For Life from mine, but I didn't check for The Loop.

Bittorrent to download yes... But if you want my recommendation, stick with it until you find a pirate torrent. Isohunt.com is my favorite-- you just have to stick with it until you find a good one.

Funny you should bump this thread today. I just saw two Loop actors in two things today. The guy that played Sam's crazy boss was in some TV commercial and then I saw the guy that played his crazy brother in a five second role in the movie Eagle Eye. It's been a Loopy kind of day.

I like the beginning premise better, too. But mostly I just watched because Bret look hot in this (except in some... uh... situations), and I can vicariously live through his female boss grabbing his ass and calling him sexable. Hee.
The character he played is kind of an ass and an idiot, though. And it's like most of the episodes are trying to top themselves on how ridiculous they can make him look, which kill some of the hotness for me. So I enjoy it less.

You mean you didn't like him with the vacation braids? It was a very slapsticky show, so unfortunately you play the lead in a show like that you're going to made to look like an idiot pretty often. I didn't think he was a bad guy, but he was straddling these two identities and could never choose whether he wanted to be a frat boy or a grown up.
