So, my DVDs arrived, I ripped open the package, scanned my receipt, and wandered off to do other things. Then I remembered to watch the DVDs! First thoughts: Deleted scenes: Oh My God! Sam's Mom! And the explanation of them not living at the house! What the hell were they thinking, cutting that out? And..kitty cat! Gag reel: Missy has a beautiful laugh. Watching them make mistakes and crack up and goof around only makes me want to Save The Show even more. The Making of: Oohh, Donovan Stinson is kinda hot in real life. Oh, Tara and Michele. Cool. I don't know what else to say. Still watching...

I can't believe they cut that out with fans wondering about it all season.

They deleted that scene in order to get the trio to move into Sock's house and introduce Kristin. This was a huge mistake since Sam's mom was neccessary to the plot and Kristin wasn't. I feel really bad for Allison Hossick.

I went directly to the last disc to see all the extra stuff. Really enjoyed "The Making of Reaper" with comments from cast and crew about their experiences on the show, because it's interesting to hear how all the different artists relate to their respective crafts and come together to make a show work. Also appreciated that Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas came on camera to share their thoughts.
I agree that the deleted scene with Sam's mother in "Moving In" should have been kept in. I wondered why the guys didn't go to Sam's house when they were seeking a place to stay. It seemed logical that they'd try there first, and the deleted scene shows that they did and got rejected.
Also thought the deleted scene from "Monkey Dance" was better than the scene they left in. It shows how the devil has his hooks planted everywhere, and can pull them when necessary to keep his "employees" obedient to him. It explained more convincingly why Sam felt compelled to make such a fool of himself for the devil's entertainment.

It seemed logical that they'd try there first, and the deleted scene shows that they did and got rejected. I thought that scene was so odd, and completely out of tune with the rest of the episode. For one, Mom just...walked off. Whuh? Anyways, all that scene would have done for me is to keep me bitching about how weird Sam's hot mom is - particularly given that the scene fits in with how remote she was back in last season's finale.

I absolutely love the cover art for season 2. Besides being made of hilarious awesomeness, it stands out so, so much, even when surrounded by a bajillion other TV-DVDs. A very good thing, since this show needs to be as attention-grabby as it can be right now.
I immediately watched that "Moving In" scene having read about it here and am so mad that they took it out. As already said, it'd be logical for them to try there, but I guess it's okay, since my mind has long since rationalized them not doing so. Mrs. O's behavior toward Sam in the S1 finale was pretty cold, after all -- why try to move in with her when it seems like she blames poor, ol' Sammy for Daddio's death?
I just called Mr. O "daddio." Leaving thread now...
