Just purchased Seasons 1 & 2 of REAPER via amazon. KR Oh, to let you guys know, if you purchase through the links at the top of the page that say Reaper: Season One and Reaper: Season 2, it'll help us with some of the costs of printing and mailing. Thanks. And make sure to forward us those receipts, koenigrules! savereaper@yahoo.com

Hi Blue Sunflower, I'm a long-time lurker here and appreciate all that you are doing. Here are a couple of suggestions: 1) Start a discussion in Amazon.com discussions for the season 2 product page. I think that's a good group to target because there's no risk of them having lost their receipt (it's electronic so they can just view the order confirmation page, print it, and send it to you if they didn't save the confirmation email). Plus, if they're interested enough in the series to actually read the Amazon discussions, they might be interested enough to participate. I was looking at that. Cko started a discussion, so maybe she knows more. Yeah, we're trying to figure that out. The logistics alone are currently blowing my mind. I *would* like to see if we couldn't offer some DVDs that the cast signed. I can't promise anything, but we are trying to look into it. First thing's first though, we gotta ask Jenny.

I am thinking of purchasing 2 or 3 set of each. I do not have a scanner; maybe my boss does or my brother or boyfriend can scan for me. I am not very computer savvy, so this may take alittle work. It is worth the effort and continued fight. Thanks for all you have done and are doing. Happy endings!!!!!

virtue, it's the "links" in the headline at the top of the main page, where it says Season 1 and Season 2. Those take you directly to the correct Amazon page, and by some bizarre magic I guess reaperdmv gets a few cents from each purchase.
And, if you can't scan and email, we set up a Post Office box; you can copy your receipt, add the relevant info, and mail.

Okay, I am overwhelmed at this point and need help. This whole campaign is now more than just me starting a board because I wanted to keep in contact with my 5 other Reaper friends. We have been asked to do something, and I honestly have no idea how to do even *half* of it. I really need help trying to figure out how to organize this, especially so that we can start it ASAP. So please, any advice anyone has to offer cko and me on how to figure this out is MAJORLY appreciated. I am hoping that even if there is no one in our fandom who has ever done something like this before, there are at least some who can figure out how. While supporting the affiliates and cable is good (so keep that up), we've been advised to Show Them The Money to convince ABC Studios and others that it's in their financial interest to Save Reaper. Basically, this tip is telling us we need to step it up. After discussing this with Nick C., he replied with the following: I suggest a DVD/Petition campaign. Show your money is where your mouth is. Get a legit petition in major markets. Buy a DVD (season 1 or 2). Attach copy of receipt to each signature.
Then set up dates to watch the show in order on your site and other REAPER sites. #savereaper #watchreaper on Twitter and chat during the scheduled time to watch the show. #chuckmemondays have broken into the top twittered subjects. Use that to get others to sign petition and buy a DVD set.
The general thought is for every 1 person who does something there is likely 100 people behind them. So if you can gather up 1,000 signatures and DVD receipts...you'd make a statement.
It has to be substantially different than past campaigns. They care about money. It's a business. So create a money making campaign. Get Jenny Wade and others to sign copies of DVDs to sell on your site. Get them involved. Attack Comic Con with it. Have DVDs the girls and Bret there to pimp the product and the petition. Now, our first problem is how to gather the petitions/receipts. Cko and I are trying to work on that. Maybe she can update herself. Nick has said it doesn't matter if there is 1 receipt petition signed by 1000 people, or 1000 receipt petitions signed by 1 person. I don't think people should send them to ABC - at least not yet. Remember, ABC gets thousands upon thousands of letters a day, so the last thing we need is for a receipt to be overlooked. We may need to send them somewhere else. I am still asking Nick about that. We (meaning me) also need some way of keeping track so that we (meaning me) know when 1000 has been reached. As to the rest? Uh...I would *love* to do it, but I have absolutely no clue. Particularly for the last suggestion. I will tell you that I take the advice seriously, and want to work it if we can. It's definitely something that can rocket us into "Firefly" fandom status. Conventions are serious business, yo. Now, I cannot guarantee this will work. I can't even guarantee that it's a good shot. But IMO, it *is* worth a shot - even if it's a long one. Are we sending in socks? I will go out and send out a dozen pair, separately with a little note if it will help.

Geez, I need to get some work done here at work, but SAVE THE REAPER has somehow taken over my priorities. I saved the home page as my main link to replace the thread I saved when I first came upon (by the grace of god) your we- page with a thread on it I just figured out that this is the reason why I was reading posts ol.der dated threads. I am still learning. Being persistant is a strong quality of mine and I am stubbornly striving to make this work to our advantage. Emailing, campaigning, sending socks and now DVD receipts. I've mentioned this before, and I was thinking that this might fit in with this campaign. The local library systems in my area (Cleveland) are all on-line. I'm sure many/most library systems throughout the country, and maybe the world, have the same on-line access. This would be very easy for everyone on this site to do and it would swell our number dramatically!!! My idea is to have everone go into their local library systems and see if they have a copy/copies of Reaper (either season) and report that number to the savereaper@yahoo.com address for compiliation and reporting to whomever we decide to report it to. All of these copies reflect purchases that have been made of these DVD's. Any, perhaps more importantly, we could also report on how these copies are circulating. For example, I can go into the Cleveland Library System and place a hold on one of the DVD sets and it tells me if one is available, and if not, where I am on the waiting list. That would give the receiver of our information a good idea of how popular the show is. At the current time, the Cleveland Library System has 10 copies of Reaper Season 1, and none are available for withdrawal. I just placed a hold on it and came up 8th. That means that 10 people currently have the DVD set and there are another 8 waiting for it. And this, I might point out, is after seven months of the set being available. During that seven month period, I have never logged on and found any of the 10 copies immediately available. So, in summary, the 10 copies in the Cleveland Library System have all been checked out continuously for the past seven months, and there are still people waiting to see it!!!! I would think this would be a very good gauge of the popularity of the show. I just checked the Cleveland System for Season 2 and they have 8 copies on order and there are already 18 people waiting to withdraw it. A suburban system outside of Cleveland, Geauga County Library has 2 copies of Season 1 and one copy (I currently have it) of Season 2. That makes a total of 21 copies of Reaper available in just these two systems. Those represent 21 DVD sales which are easily verifiable. What does everyone else think about this idea??

I'm sorry, guys. I'm a victim of the crappy economy. My hours have been cut from 40 per week to 20. I can no longer afford car insurance. If it matters, I'm looking for a new job and intend to buy Season Two then. Can I send in a "I want it but am too broke" receipt?

Great input, everyone! wd, cool about the libraries, we'll talk about how to do that. If people want to do this research on your own, you can post here or send the info to the savereaper@yahoo.com email address, and we'll think about how to package that and include it.
Ashs, sorry to hear it. Hang in there. Yes, go ahead and send your info to the email address.
rchill, great!, and we're just starting, but we're posting on many sites and have a promotional plan in mind, so stay tuned!
virtue thanks for sticking with us (but don't neglect your work, like we are); I'm looking for that buddytv.com page to vote for Bret--do you have a link?

I ordered my s2 copy about 2 days ago will send a copy of the receipt when it arrives. What kinda of feed back are you getting. Like are you at 200-300 yet or just 20? To be fair, we just started yesterday, so we're more at the latter than the former. I am getting some feedback that for people who order from non-Amazon places, their receipts will take a bit longer to come. I just want to say, I really do believe there are a 1000 receipts out there, but we just have to get them. That's the hard part. I'm not really quite sure how to do that anymore, especially all by myself. Exposure is the key. Chuck's Subway Campaign would have been nothing if the major media hadn't picked it up. Unfortunately, at this point we can't really have or expect anyone to write this up, so that really limits our exposure. It also doesn't help that we started this *after* the DVD release date. I'm really sorry about that. So, really, this has to be a true grassroots campaign. This is a lot like our other campaigns where it's exceedingly important to Spread The Word. I have to tell you, if the Receipts For Reaper campaign only stays at this board, we most likely will never reach 1000. If you post at other boards, mention it. If you have your own blog, mention it. If you're at twitter, mention it. If you're at a DVD site, mention it. If you're at youtube, mention it. If you're at a news site, mention it. If you're at Amazon or someplace, mention it. Just. Talk. It. Up. If you comment at sites like Zap2It or BuddyTV, then mention it. Just. Mention. It.If cko and I are the only ones going out and commenting, then the campaign is NOT going to be taken seriously. A thread with just me commenting is not going to get as much attention as a thread that's got a ton of people going "oh yeah! I'm in on that! I'm totally sending in my receipt too!" We HAVE to look BIG. We're fighting against too many people whose only input is the major media, and the major media has declared Reaper dead. I cannot stress this enough. Another thing I am going to suggest: We will shortly be starting a re-watch. When we do (which we haven't decided - do you guys want to watch the Sunday night reruns or a Tuesday night honoring of Reaper's timeslot?) then I recommend that be a "swarm" night of Reaper support everywhere, in order to keep the interest - and the DVD sales - up.

Blue Sunflower, I would recommend that you maybe try to publicize on non-movie related forums where ppl just hang out. Something awful and 4chan come to mind. Might also try updating the wikipedia article on reaper to mention this campaign. It still just says the show is cancelled and might go into syndication. I've been trying to mention reaper on a few of the boards I visit as well, so hopefully that might generate some traffic too.

^^ Speaking of which, I need someone to post about the Receipts campaign here too: www.dingorue.com/2009/05/19/reaper-cancelledMine won't post, and I am still getting notification that people are reading it, so someone commenting on it will be sent to all the people who've subscribed to the thread. That'll at least spread the word to 5 more people.

That would be a great idea for people to try. I *do* think there are some people here who post there. Maybe someone can help? Yeah, I did that. I've noticed they're really picky about what gets put on the *main* wikipedia page, but I'll bite the bullet and see if it lasts. I do have it on the main page of the Reaper Wiki though. Thank you. That helps no matter how small of an audience you get. One more person who's added through this method is one more person we didn't have before. Get enough of us doing this, and those "one person added" can really add up.

ok, so I noticed you guys have said you need to contact Jenny Wade about possibly signing copies of DVDs. Done! I am friends with her on myspace, I sent her a message asking if she would help out. It was just done so it might take a couple days to get a response from her, but I will let you know. And while you might be thinking that I won't get a reply, she has replied to all my previous messages regarding Reaper. I don't see why she would stop now. I will lett you guys know as soon as I hear from her.

I'll even try to post about this on my blog, in case there are Reaper fans on my flist unaware of this campaign.

thembc, kagari, edgy, reapermovie, cookie, meatball, rabbit THANK YOU! Keep the faith, keep posting on various sites, linking back to here and/or giving information directly, and GET YOUR FRIENDS and Family (and co-workers and whomever) to buy the DVDs and send their receipts with the info explained above. Like I've said, it would speed everything up amazingly if each of us here got, scanned, and emailed 4 people in addition to ourselves.
reapvermovie, Jenny is awesome and thnx for contacting her. We're also in touch with her, and she is willing to help out. We'll figure out how to handle that great opportunity, and if someone has ideas, let us know.
Other ideas, keep em coming, and anything people can continue to do is FANTASTIC. Like Blue said, it's a grassroots effort. We're the Grassroots!
CWReaper, no apologies needed, you're doing an awesome job over at Twitter!

Wdpender, you well may be a genius. I actually went to Multnomah County, and they didn't even have Reaper! For Pete's sake, Portland's one of the largest Reaper markets, and Bret's from Tualatin! I'm gonna go to Clackamas and Washington and request there too. I highly suggest everyone here who can google "purchase request library [your county]" and request your library to purchase a copy - even if they already have some. If they've got demand (like Cleveland apparently), they may well buy more - particularly if they start getting overloaded with requests. Hell, look up your university library too. I saw several pages where you can request DVDs for them too. Also, these links might be helpful: Public Libraries, a state by state listing www.publiclibraries.com/American Library Association www.ala.org/LibCat, another library listing by state www.librarysites.info/
