Okay, I am overwhelmed at this point and need help. This whole campaign is now more than just me starting a board because I wanted to keep in contact with my 5 other Reaper friends.
We have been asked to do something, and I honestly have no idea how to do even *half* of it. I really need help trying to figure out how to organize this, especially so that we can start it ASAP. So please, any advice anyone has to offer cko and me on how to figure this out is MAJORLY appreciated. I am hoping that even if there is no one in our fandom who has ever done something like this before, there are at least some who can figure out how.
While supporting the affiliates and cable is good (so keep that up), we've been advised to Show Them The Money to convince ABC Studios and others that it's in their financial interest to Save Reaper. Basically, this tip is telling us we need to step it up.
After discussing this with Nick C., he replied with the following:
I suggest a DVD/Petition campaign. Show your money is where your mouth is. Get a legit petition in major markets. Buy a DVD (season 1 or 2). Attach copy of receipt to each signature.
Then set up dates to watch the show in order on your site and other REAPER sites. #savereaper #watchreaper on Twitter and chat during the scheduled time to watch the show. #chuckmemondays have broken into the top twittered subjects. Use that to get others to sign petition and buy a DVD set.
The general thought is for every 1 person who does something there is likely 100 people behind them. So if you can gather up 1,000 signatures and DVD receipts...you'd make a statement.
It has to be substantially different than past campaigns. They care about money. It's a business. So create a money making campaign. Get Jenny Wade and others to sign copies of DVDs to sell on your site. Get them involved. Attack Comic Con with it. Have DVDs the girls and Bret there to pimp the product and the petition.
Now, our first problem is how to gather the petitions/receipts. Cko and I are trying to work on that. Maybe she can update herself. Nick has said it doesn't matter if there is 1 receipt petition signed by 1000 people, or 1000 receipt petitions signed by 1 person.
I don't think people should send them to ABC - at least not yet. Remember, ABC gets thousands upon thousands of letters a day, so the last thing we need is for a receipt to be overlooked. We may need to send them somewhere else. I am still asking Nick about that. We (meaning me) also need some way of keeping track so that we (meaning me) know when 1000 has been reached.
As to the rest? Uh...I would *love* to do it, but I have absolutely no clue. Particularly for the last suggestion. I will tell you that I take the advice seriously, and want to work it if we can. It's definitely something that can rocket us into "Firefly" fandom status. Conventions are serious business, yo.
Now, I cannot guarantee this will work. I can't even guarantee that it's a good shot. But IMO, it *is* worth a shot - even if it's a long one.

Here's the beginning plan for the Reaper Receipt campaign. We need to gather 1000 people to send a letter/note/card or piece of paper with THEIR DVD RECEIPT. Info to include: --Name, address --Male/female, age. --Viewing area, cable company.
Our idea is to have people either scan these and email them to a central location, or snail mail them to same. But we're not sure about this, so want your ideas.
We need from you: 1) Suggestions for a short tweetable, postable name for this campaign 2) Ideas for the best way to gather the sigs and receipts 3) Help on the other strategies blue listed above. 4) Once we get this organized, help us by spreading the word. 5) If you're on twitter, follow reaperdmv for all the latest.
SAVE YOUR DVD RECEIPTS AND START GATHERING FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO WILL DO THE SAME! IF EVERYONE HERE GOT 10 MORE PEOPLE, THAT WOULD BE OVER 1000 RIGHT THERE!
Keep the faith, people! Let's try this thing.

I posted this in the other thread, but possibly getting an alternate network interested in reruns would be a good goal. Adult Swim, for instance, was very instrumental in reviving Family Guy. I was thinking Comedy Central would be a great place to get college age kids that would never watch the CW. If you ask me, the CW was in no way the right network for a show like Reaper. I put off watching it for a year b/c I didn't think the CW could possibly have anything I'd be interested in. Overcoming that mindset is crucial.

... I was thinking Comedy Central would be a great place .... to be fair i`m a bit surprised Comedy Central isn't the network who aired reaper in the USA instead of CW. here in Holland it is the comedy central that airs reaper, thy started last Friday with season 2.

As far as the Twitterable Reaper campaign goes, I would stick with what we've got. I like the #SaveReaper one. It's short, to the point, and I've sent it to ABC about 300 times already. ;D
As far as coordinating some sort of online watching of the show, I would suggest going with Tuesday nights. That's when Reaper was (oh so briefly) shown, in North America anyway, and that's when I regularly think, "I wish I could be watching Reaper now."

I bought season 1 a few weeks ago, and preordered season 2, still waiting for it to arrive.
As for sending them in, maybe Blue Sunflower, you could get a PO Box or something similar?
Also, doing a weekly watch would probably be a good thing. Even though I recently rewatched s1, I'd gladly do it again.

jonnyspeight, I'm not in a DVD region 1 place, either, but there are tricks to making your computer play any region DVD. Like software that'd let you turn the DVD drive in your computer all region. www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htmOr keep two DVD drives around so one is set to region 1 all the time and the other is set to whatever region you're in. I think there are tricks to make DVD players all region, too, but I haven't tried any of those since I watch DVDs with my computer and never bothered to get a DVD player.

Ok, Nick said we need to send it to a centralized person here, as there is a centralized person we need to send it to who will walk the whole thing over. We *have* to have 1000. It also may be possible for people to scan in their receipts and email them to us.
I would suggest that for right now, if you are on other boards and stuff - particularly if you know other Reaper fans - to tell them to SAVE THEIR RECEIPTS.
This is not going to be easy. We will both need to find people who have already purchased the DVDs, as well as most likely get people who still need to purchase the DVDs.

As for sending them in, maybe Blue Sunflower, you could get a PO Box or something similar? We are working on that. However, we *can* also send in scanned copies. So if anyone would like to do that, please email them to: reaperdmv@gmail.comPlease include your name, address, age, M/F, and anything else you would like. I would ask that you try and keep it to no more than 1/3 to 1/2 a page (postcard size is best) so that when I print them out I can put more than one per page - saving paper and money. Make sure to spread the word too. If you have friends, coworkers, family that you know of that bought - gather those receipts too. If you guys can collect 4-5 to send it, that would be awesome. Heck, if you work for an electronic store, tell the customers who buy the DVDs from you!

We'll have even more details on this, especially the snail mail portion, later tonight.
Please, people, with this campaign, we need you to send in your own, but also a couple of others. Organize your family and friends, gather their information/receipts, and scan it in for them. It works a lot better if we have small-group organizers spread all over, and we need your leadership to help with this!
Like I said above, if all of us here gathered 10, that would be 1000 right there. Even if everyone could commit to 4, that would get us half way there. Plus, it would save a lot of work at the individual level for us organizing at this end. Thank you!

News from TVGuide.com Hi, I'm new to the board. well, lurker mainly, but new to posting. I was just over at tvguide.com, and found this. Contains slight possible season 3 spoilage. so be warned. The url to the article is here, www.tvguide.com/News/MegaBuzz-House-SVU-1006743.aspxBut the actual article is: I am super upset that Reaper was canceled. The finale was great but totally left us hanging. What's the "greater good"? Is there any chance we can get some answers or a continuing story in maybe a comic book? If not, any word on where the writers were planning on going in Season 3? — Gerald TIM: Reaper star Bret Harrison tells us he saw hints in the finale that Andi (played by Missy Peregrym) "was going to probably be a reaper in the next season." The story will survive as a comic book, but don't put your faith in talk of the show surviving in syndication: "[That] is a no-go," says Tyler Labine, aka Sock. "It's not officially, officially dead, but as far as everyone is concerned, it's over." As for whether Bret and Tyler would be interested in a Reaper movie, look for our full-length interview soon.

Save Reaper Receipt campaign begins now!
We've heard on good authority that if we can prove there is a market for this show, it would give more force to the fight for a Reaper Season Three in syndication.
We need to gather 1000 people to send a letter/note/card or piece of paper with THEIR REAPER DVD RECEIPT.
Info to include: 1) Name, address 2) Male/female, age. 3) Viewing area, cable company.
BUT WE WANT YOU TO GATHER MORE THAN ONE SIGNATURE/RECEIPT IF YOU CAN!
IF EVERYONE HERE GOT TEN OF YOUR FRIENDS/FAMILY TO SIGN AND RECEIPT THAT WOULD BE 1000 RIGHT THERE!
And, if you can combine your people on one or two documents, that would make it a lot easier for us to organize on this end.
Either: I. Scan your information and receipt and email to savereaper@yahoo.com.
II. Snail mail address: ReaperDMV PO Box 2054 Portland OR 97015
Do this now, the sooner the better. Show them the money! Show there's a market for Reaper!

Hi Blue Sunflower, I'm a long-time lurker here and appreciate all that you are doing.
Here are a couple of suggestions:
1) Start a discussion in Amazon.com discussions for the season 2 product page. I think that's a good group to target because there's no risk of them having lost their receipt (it's electronic so they can just view the order confirmation page, print it, and send it to you if they didn't save the confirmation email). Plus, if they're interested enough in the series to actually read the Amazon discussions, they might be interested enough to participate.
2) With regard to the "Jenny signing the DVD" concept, we couldn't reasonably expect Jenny to go through the hassle of signing a bunch of one-off DVDs every day as they arrive in the mail so maybe you could instruct people to mail the empty DVD boxes directly to you (so they could keep the disc) along with the other needed info (receipt, signed petition, etc.) with the understanding that it might take a month or two before you can send them back. Then, assuming they've complied with the "other needed info" requirement, you could collect them over the next few weeks and maybe Jenny would be willing to sign the whole lot of them in one sitting. This keeps any of us from having to become resellers or anything complicated like that. Of course, this is assuming Jenny would be on board with this. This is just a concept that might work for you/us/Jenny.
Anyway, just my $0.02. Thanks again!

Myself and my wife host a blogtalkradio show on Tuesday nites at 9-10pm CST. It is called The Doctor & Mrs. Who and we cover all shows that are fantastic. Is it possible to have a spokesperson for the SAVE REAPER campaign come on next Tuesday night? It would not only be good exposure but reach other fans and sites. We have been talking about REAPER the last few shows & now I think we need to do more! Our address is www.blogtalkradio.com/drandmrswho And our call in number is 1-646-200-0232. We can work out the details if you are interested! Thanks and here's to a third season of REAPER. KR & Wife Jenn Love Reaper!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

What a wonderful offer. One of us will get back to you on that for sure, ASAP. THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks for the kind words. I will entitle part of our show as SAVE REAPER!!!! And hopefully fans can phone in and/or chat on this topic next Tuesday. Mark your calendars, my fellow escapees! Hell hasn't frozen over yet! KR P.S. I have been a fan of REAPER and shows like it (Fox's BRIMSTONE, UPN's SPECIAL UNIT 2). I wish I could have done more to save THE 4400 or TRU CALLING. I see this as an opportunity to do more for REAPER and help out in any way I can!!!
