As of this moment we need to assume that ALL of the cast and crew of Reaper have been let go of their contracts. Since this presumably happened on Friday, the window to rectify this is closing fast, and we need to address it RIGHT now. Opening of business is Monday morning. Thereby, our immediate goals are to inform ABC and ABC Studios that we still:
- Support the show.
- Believe there is a demand for the show.
- Encourage them to re-sign the cast and crew immediately.
- Encourage them to offer a contract for the show to syndication (or cable) immediately.
This will most likely be our last opportunity to make a Major Push for a 2009/2010 Season Three, before we will have to move to more long-term goals, such as a 2010/2011 season, movie, or graphic novels. That will be addressed in another thread.
Remember, no matter what be polite. Suggestions to include in your letters: Your love of the show and the actors; our positive responses from the CW affiliates; how the show would fit so well within other cable networks - particularly if the one rumor Reaper *was* sold is true; if you are planning to purchase the DVDs; time is of the essence but you firmly believe ABC can accomplish it; how you think a showrunner can be found within the Reaper ranks, etc.
And make sure to spread the word and put this info EVERYWHERE. Other forums, twitter, friends, news articles, etc. Strength in numbers.

From bajingo at the LJ: I don't know if this can help or not, but if anybody wants to get in touch with Kevin Smith, the easiest way to do so is through the ViewAskew board: viewaskew.com/newboard/index.htm l He at least reads every post addressing him. He may be willing to help out the Save Reaper campaign through word of mouth, though he is busy shooting a new movie right now, so it's completely dependent on time.
Also, since I noticed there's been some confusion as to whether or not the Bret Harrison on Twitter is legit, I left a query on the Big Japan myspace asking. If anyone would know, I bet his band would.
I can't manage to sign up at the message board, though I've tried. My internet is total crap and times out. I'll do what I can to help though.
(and I think I might need a new Save Reaper icon now!)

Okay, well this is the letter that I wrote: Please Save Reaper (From Blue Sunflower at ReaperDMV)
Dear ..., I wrote you on Saturday to ask to see if we could hear any information about Reaper. Since then we have heard a rumor that ABC and ABC Studios considered recasting the role of Sam in order to continue the series. Please simply cast Bret Harrison, and soon - before he gets another job. I want you to know that I still firmly support the show and believe there is still a demand. Please re-sign the cast and crew, and offer a contract for the show to syndication (or cable) immediately before the window of opportunity closes forever. Please. You have domestic fans who will buy anything. Believe me when I say that I know for a fact people will purchase commercial products advertised not only during commercials, but also through product placement. I myself bought a Dirt Devil. You also have a largely untapped international audience that I have seen quite literally begging for Reaper. They tear up youtube and illegal downloads in order to get the show when it airs in the US, because they can't wait until it airs in their own countries. Reaper should be given a REAL second chance. In terms of profit, I hope that you can see Reaper's true potential - especially with our fanbase. Our fanbase is rabid, and I think we've proven that. You want us to do something? We will do it. You wanted the CW affiliates, so we did it. You wanted SpikeTV or SyFy, and we did it. I am willing to bet if you told us to buy a Subway Sandwich, we will do that too. I *still* kick myself for not thinking of that campaign earlier. Reaper has the potential to be like Buffy, Angel, or even Charmed - with magazine, novel, and merchandise tie-ins. The support I've received throughout this entire situation has been, well, overwhelming. I can tell you I have never seen such dedication from people, not even when I helped out on the Save the Junkie, Save the World campaign to try and save Charlie at Lost. This whole campaign is bigger than me now, back when it was just me and Cathy trying to spam everything in an effort to get more fans involved. We have people looking for *us* now, and not the other way around. We are finally uniting this very diverse fanbase. The fans have always been out there, just never organized. They've always prefered blogs, or smaller forums. You have no idea of the thousands upon thousands of blogs I have commented on, or the forums I have joined, just to let people know how they can best help Reaper. Thank you for your consideration, Tara

Okay, well so far today I have emailed that other abc email address from ParentTV, and recommented at the ABC sites. We gotta make sure to keep that up, as well as emailing. You need to be persistent, like the ocean. Little waves of us crashing on the shores of ABC until they gradually wear down. Twittering is good. Try and find all the people who tweet about Reaper who don't use #reaper or #savereaper. Tell them to inundate the ABC sites.
I'll email some more tonight, and I think I'm gonna put some stuff in the mail too. I think it's a good idea to get out there and talk about the DVDs too.

Yeah, if everyone can"
--Post at relevant sites in the comment section about the campaign, link back to here. --Tweet about the ABC and Amazon Campaigns in addition to tweeting ABC people with multiple SaveReapers.
That is, tell people to join the strategy.
Blue, if i get to it before you do, I'll put something about the Amazon campaign in a combined post and do a headline, (or possibly link to your post in the DVD thread.) Never mind.

I have and will send more e-mails, etc. Plus still got the link to reaperdmv up at my site and will keep it there as long as the campaign runs. There's a few other forums I haunt that I will tell about the campaign. Or bump the posts I already made.

Okay, well I kinda realized that maybe emailing at night isn't such a good idea for me, since being first puts you at the *bottom* of the list, so I'll email first thing in the morning. I also want to call, since I'll be home most of the day and actually have access to a phone that allows long distance. I'm also going to send out letters tomorrow to Stephen McPherson, uuhh...his boss that I put up in the other thread, and the cast. Also, Tara and Michelle.

I emailed the ABC people listed above, and mailed McPherson (message: save reaper, big fanbase); mailed to Bret's management, and to Tara/Michelle's management agency (message: visit DMV to see fan efforts, is there anything you can do to save the show).
I've tweeted several times about the Email campaign, the Amazon campaign, and followed up with individual twitterers (including those not using #reaper or #savereaper) to visit here for news.
Posting news about the Email and Amazon campaigns at TWoP, several Facebook groups and fanpages, the MySpace Reaper page, and...a couple other sites I already forgot.
I know I keep saying this, but to think a few short months ago I had no idea what any of this even was. Go me!

I emailed all the names listed under the ABC LINKS. I have brain freeze right now. I will keep on typing even though my fingers are like rubber (ha-ha). WE WILL NOT GIVE UP. You guys are awesome and so dedicated. Together we can make a difference and achieve getting THE REAPER back for at LEAST another new season.

Okay, well due to Nick's comments that I put up News on Deals for Season Three thread, I sent the following to Ms. Chang, Ms. Liggins, Ms. Sniezko, and netaudr@abc.com: Dear ...., I am writing again in support of the show Reaper. Possibly one of the reasons the show was stalled is because some cast members wanted to be assured the writing quality would stay the same. While I believe there are numerous people from the Reaper ranks that can assure this, and I am aware Mark Gordon may be too busy to do it, I would like to personally advocate hiring Tom Spezialy as Reaper's showrunner. I do hope that you consider getting him. He's always in interviews with Ms. Butter and Ms. Fazekas, so he knows the story. The episodes that he has written are excellent and well-received, and considering Reaper deals with several one-time writers anyways, I have every faith Mr. Spezialy will be able to keep them on track. Also, Ms. Butters herself contacted me to let me know that even though she and Ms. Fazekas have a new contract, they will still remain involved in Reaper as consultants. Perhaps the cast members are unaware of this? community.livejournal.com/reaperdmv/42680.html I still firmly believe there is a market for this show, either on cable or in syndication. All CW responses we received about how willingly the stations are to purchase Reaper for syndication are catalogued here: reaperdmv.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=276&page=3#7417 Please re-sign the the cast and crew, and sell Reaper - and to do it soon before they find other jobs and become unavailble.
Our fandom would not only be eternally grateful, but I am already formulating ways to increase viewership (by spreading the word and cataloguing when the show can be found) as well as increase ad-revenue (like holding "Support Reaper by Supporting [Sponsor] of the Week" to encourage people to purchase more often from Reaper advertisers than they normally would). Things like that. We have a large following, and I know a lot of people who are more than willing to put their money where their mouth is, especially in regards to this wonderful show. Thank you again for your consideration in this matter. Sincerely, TaraAlso - I think it's important to title your emails to make them stand out. Don't just say "Reaper" "Save Reaper" etc. I've been titling mine as "Reaper (From Blue Sunflower at ReaperDMV)" mainly because that's my....uh...claim to fame....If you're able, maybe title yours as "Reaper (From [your name], Fan from [your city]" or something. Be creative, but don't be annoying. Don't title it "SAVEREAPERSAVEREAPERSAVEREAPERILOVETHESHOWOMGDONTCANCELIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I am also going to copy out my letter and mail it to Mark Gordon: The Mark Gordon Company 12200 W Olympic Blvd Ste 250 Los Angeles, CA 90064 USA Phn: 310-943-6401 Fax: 310-943-6402 And Bret, since he seems to be the lynchpin in this: Bret's agent: Josh Katz, United Talent Agency 9560 Wilshire Blvd. Ste. 500 Beverly Hills, CA 90212-2401 USA Phn: 310-273-6700 Fax: 310-247-1111 www.unitedtalent.cominfo@unitedtalent.com Manager: Peter Kiernan, Manager Management 360 9111 Wilshire Blvd. Beverly Hills, CA 90210 USA Phone: 310-272-7000 Fax: 310-272-0084

Argh! I can't believe I forgot to mention fanfiction!!! Ugh ugh ugh!!!
I'll add that to my other letters - esp. to Bret. I think it's important to mention that you believe new people can write just as well, esp. if you've written or read fanfiction that's you've thought is in-character (and even moreso than some of the things that actually got *aired* this last season).

Hi! I just signed the petition on tvseriesfinale.com. I also emailed my friend who has been signing all the petitions I could find. If it helps, I am also going to purchase the DVD's of both seasons. Do we still have a chance? I still have not heard back from all the people I emailed since last week, including all this week. The only response I received was from Mr. Finck. I did appreciate him responding so fast and he enjoyed THE REAPER. The fight continues.

Josh Katz's secretary said it was nice of me to call and she would let Josh know. At least she was nice also. Peter Kiernan's secretary was a complete snob. She brushed me off the phone and kept saying OK while I was expressing my love of the show and that WE THE FANS ARE GLOBALLY RALLYING for all new episodes. I do not think she will pass on the message. She kept asking me if I worked for the show, or what agency I was with. When she found out I was JUST A FAN, she could not get off the phone fast enough. If all of our members call besides sending letters, maybe they will get the hint: WE WANT THE REAPER BACK, WITH ALL NEW EPISODES. Let us all keep on fighting.
