BEN! Charlie Weber is always welcome on any show. Loved his X thing.
The Bargain Bench made a phenomenal return tonight and was the second biggest highlight for me in this episode. The soul and everything connected to it was my major draw, I liked that they dealt with the possibility of reprecussions here. Doesn't happen too often, so I'll take it.
The Ben/Nina thing was great up until the the robot suit. They were doing so well, but that and the final scene rang false to me.
The Devil at the ring shop in the teaser was made of so much win. Breaking up a couple with fake diamonds and using J-Lo as a scapegoat? Awesome.

I gave it an A for laugh out loud funny. There's just something about that Wrenchy Bench costume that gave me serious giggles. And the way a furious Sock/Wrenchy waddled off camera, oh man. Don't even get me started on him bodyslamming Bargain Brendan. Genius.
Not sure I buy Ted getting to be manager again but I do like having Andi back with the gang. The Sprong mix-up was amazing and the guys really were incredibly stupid in this one kidnapping the guy to protect him. It was just an absurd story but I enjoyed it. Sam trying to vessel that disappearing soul reminded me of a game of Whack-A-Mole.
Was it just me or did the ending of this episode feel like a series ender? The way they were all together, and Sock's pep talk it just felt like a proper end to the series if it came to it. Though I know there are two more to go. Nice to see Nina as one of the group now, I've forgotten all about Josie as they have too.
Even Andi was okay with Sam's achievement as heir to the throne of the underworld. I don't get her. She'll be friends with evil, she'll work with evil, she just won't date evil. Just kiss him already and stop this nonsense Andi, your logic is not internally consistent.

Yes, pace, that is exactly the feeling that I got. Maybe Tara and Michele's meant for it to be their symbolic farewell, since they wrote this episode.

wd, that would make sense. I didn't even put the two together while watching, but I can see that. This will be the last episode for them in this season, so naturally they'd try and give it some sense of finality. Probably why I didn't like it that much. I realize that hoping for continuity in this show is asking too much, but could they not be so blatant about it? Andi being fine with Sam being the heir to the underworld? Not something she's all that keen on, GUYS! Hmph!

Tara, if you're reading this, you have my eternal love for creating Wrenchy Bench.

I gave an A. I was happy with the reversion to the Soul of the Week plot and I was genuinely interested how they would resolve the main story. Wasn't crazy about the two subplots but didn't mind them, since they brought out the "best" in the relevant characters: slapsticky and ebullient (Sock); sweet, brave and deluded (Ben); charming and gorgeous (Nina). I have no problems with Andi being, well, unpredictable. I think Missy sells the character as being an average young woman (with way-above average looks and physicality of course) who has her own, if indecipherable, moral code.
And yeah, what people are saying about that ending scene. It did feel like a coda, and in fact showed Tyler/Sock at that character's even-more-best. Them all toasting Sam as Heir to the Underworld. Like, they've accepted their fate(s) and can even be happy about it. Really cool scene.

I rather enjoyed it. It was a nice send off from Michele and Tara.
Good luck guys with the new contract! Hopefully Reaper will still be around next year for you to come back and consult on. And the petition that we sent you at the beginning of last week that barely had 1500 on it? Now has nearly 2000. It's long since surpassed the amount on Privileged's petition, which btw has been around a lot longer than Reaper's. Heck, even The Game is starting to outpace Privileged's.

I am so going to have to add the Wrenchy Bench costume and the robot costume to my "Tastyyy!" sig.

I could not stop laughing at that scene, I don't think I can express quite how much I loved Wrenchy Bench (it's also incredibly fun to say).
The scene at the bar was lovely, though ITA with everyone that it definitely felt like the kind of scene that you'd get at the end of a series.

I really enjoyed this episode. So much fun with all the subplots. And, best of all, no annoying characters. That's right, the continued absence of not!Josie and the newly absent Ken Doll were both much appreciated in these parts.
Nina has quickly become one of the best characters. The way she's been integrated into their lives has been well done and the actress is a joy to watch. She plays earnest, tender, sexy and scary - sometimes all at once.
There were a couple of things I didn't like. This -
is the biggest one. I like quirky, but quirky has to also make some kind of internal logical sense, even if it's just for that character. Andi's behavior just doesn't.
The other thing was that the Devil said the SotW likes to think he's invisible. If that were the case, then when Sam was swining the mallet, he would still have hit him. Instead, this guy could transport himself. If I recall correctly, when he captured Andi, he didn't even open the kitchen door.
Still, small problems aside, Wrenchy Bench is made of awesome. As was the entire episode. Straight A.

It was a good episode, tho I liked the last two better. Mr. Sprong being the one that captured the soul was brilliant, as well as Sam's voice after Sprong told him all those mean words.
Wrenchy Bench should've been a season regular since the beginning. I hope we get to see more of the rivalry between the Work Bench and the Bargain Bench in the future, it could be really interesting.
Andi... I just can't stand her... She totally wants to get dirty with Sam but she just wouldn't because he's so "evil", yet she hangs out perfectly fine with him. Did I miss something or do we need Mel Gibson's ability in "What Women Want" to know what's the deal with her?

I really liked the plot line with Mr. Sprong -- who has never had at least one teacher all evilly like that? Turning the tables on Sam and Co. by making him not the soul, and then the one to actually capture it, was awesome.
And Wrenchy Bench? Hilarious...although I did find myself getting annoyed throughout the episode wondering what purpose these scenes had besides being for laughs. (Yeah, it eventually tied with Ben's story a little, but...eh.) Wrenchy Bench made me think back on Sam's amazing pumpkin-ness and how Ted wouldn't allow Sock to dress up as it. Those two have come full-circle. XD

So much love for bec's hilarious and detailed recap of this episode. I agree with you that the guy X was kinda cute. Really enjoyed the funny asides. Come on, did you really guess about Nina's demon heat? Thanks for the research! And...teleportationatron! Other humorous asides by bec: --Who has the thankless task of putting an adult diaper on him? --This would be such a weird thing for Sprong to hear if he's not aware she's a demon. Or maybe he'd think she's a nymphomaniac and "eat" means something else. --The tools roll around a bit. Hahahhahah! Aw, and thanks for transcribing that final scene. I loved that.

I totally guessed about the demon heat! I think it was because of all the animalistic qualities that has been established as part of Nina's demonhood. The barn-like home, the bloody eating of huge live animals, the fetching... It was clear from their reactions the "weird guys hitting on Nina" thing has never happened before, and they've known her and hung out with her at the Brickhouse for a while. So it can't just be because she's hot and Ben's Ben. It has to be something else. Why not demon heat? My mind just jumped there. That was why I nearly died laughing when she finally told Ben she's in heat. I was like "I knew it!!!"
