A thread for when you recognize any of the places Reaper used in a location shoot. I still haven't figured out where the Work Bench is, or which Canadian Tire it was in the Pilot. I'll start with some easy ones. The courthouse in the Pilot was really the Vancouver Art Gallery. Which did use to be a courthouse. That boardwalk where the magician chased Sam with a sword in Magic is New Westminster Quay. In Love, Bullets, and Blacktop, the guys chased those souls around Chinatown Plaza Parking. The place where the demons had their rebellion in Rebellion was really the Chan Centre. Dove Hollow, the little town in The Underbelly is really Burnaby Village Museum. The Brickhouse is really The Brickhouse. And I'm totally sure, but the hospital in Charged looks like Vancouver General Hospital. And the hospital in Coming to Grips looks like Richmond Hospital. I'm not totally positive about this one, either, but I think Horseshoe Bay is where The Devil pushed Sam off the pier in Hungry For Fame. (Wait. Thanks to the magic of Flickr and Google, I think I can confirm that it's actually Rocky Point Park in Port Moody. Even though I've never been there.) Ha, that's kind of a load off my mind! But it's still kind of driving me nuts that I can't figure out the location of that beautiful place by the water where they scattered all the dead people ashes they stole.

Thanks, bec. I've traced a few locations to Hastings Street. They seem to like to film in that area. In "The Leak", the nightclub that they meet Ben at is on Hastings Street. When the group catches up with him, after he takes off his shirt and runs down the street, is across the street from Old School Motorcycles (You can see the sign in the background of the shot) at 4347 Hastings Street. Steveston Marine & Hardware can be seen when they are running away from the store with the painting after Morgan breaks the window in "The Favorite". They have 3 locations. One in Langley (unlikely because they don't seem to film there). The most likely being 1603 3rd Ave. West in Vancouver, because it is near the Hastings area that they like to film in. Also one in Richmond at 3560 Moncton Street. The studio is identified as being at 4210 Phillips Ave. in Burnaby. I assume that is where the "Work Bench" is located. I read somewhere that the pilot "Work Bench" was a Canadian Tire in Burnaby. I notice that there are two on Hastings. Maybe one of those? I found a website a few months ago that had blog entries from people in Vancouver that reported filming locations when they ran across them, but cannot find it now. I know that site had the exact location of where the bus stop scene with the devil in "Rebellion" was filmed.

Thanks, wdpender! I have wondered where that nightclub scene was.
That storefront where they were stealing the painting have a kind of old-fashioned look to it. Like something you'd find in Steveston (where the Moncton Branch of Steveston Marine and Hardware is located). But then on rewatch, the surrounding area really doesn't look like Steveston. So you're probably right about it being the 3rd Ave one. Oh, with Google map's help, I think it might be the corner of Fir and Third. You can kind of see a bus stop bench at the edge of the shot in the end of that scene. And you can see the number 1809 on the door. So it's probably 1809 Fir Street.
Another thing I still wonder about is if they built an incredibly detailed hardware store set for the interior of the Work Bench or if they're actually using a Home Depot or Canadian Tire? Or something like that?

I found the forum that I mentioned. It is at: www.hollywoodnorthreport.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/f8.html in case anyone wants to see it. This was the reference for the Bus Stop scene: The location is outdoors at the 1100 block of Falcon Drive in Port Moody. Falcon runs off Barnett Hwy. The set will consist of a mock up of a bus stop, and two actors will be doing their scene at this bus stop. 7:00am - 2:00pm - Setting up 2:00pm - 5:00pm - Filming 5:00pm - 7:00pm - Wrap & set take down

Hopefully good news and some knows what going on! might try go down burnaby lake tomorrow to see whats going on.
Winston... Burnaby Lake... my guess is this is Reaper since their studio is there.
Reaper does a lot of night shooting.
Reaper has been at the house on the north west corner of MacDonald and East Georgia in Burnaby a few times in the last couple months. this is only a few minute drive from brentwood mall

Thanks bec and wd for this great info! I love it! I remember hearing at the beginning of Season One that it was a Canadian Tire originally, but I think later it became a set. I'm curious about the street scene outside the boxing gym, that should be easy to identify, right?

There was a gazebo in "Dove Hollow" in Underbelly; I only noticed because I wondered if it was a play on Stars Hollow which I think also had a gazebo, even though I never watched that show and can't even remember right now what it was called. Oh, never mind me.

Ha! Maybe the name really was meant to be a Gilmore Girls reference. I think that gazebo in Burnaby Village have always been there originally, though. I can't remember for sure, but I think so. If they did build it for their shoot, it seems like an awful lot of effort for something that wasn't very prominently featured.

Google and Flickr are again, an unbeatable combination. I could see the sign that said "Ted Harris" in one shot, so one quick Google of "Ted Harris Vancouver" later, found out it's a paint shop at 757 Hastings Street East. And after looking it up on Flickr, I'm pretty sure the "entrance to the boxing gym" is really the Astoria Hotel. Interesting side note: Also found this story about the Astoria.

Oh, and I just found out there really is a boxing gym in the Astoria. The one in the picture doesn't seem to look exactly like what was in the episode, though.

bec, they really do like filming on and around Hastings. In the last episode, the address sign is visible behind Andi when she exits the car after Sam tries to win her over during the soul stakeout. I think the street was Fairlawn, which, per Google Earth, is a neighborhood near Hastings.

This person was a tourist in Vancouver and spotted the clock in the Monkey Dance scene (which, by the way, my Dad asked "Is that San Francisco?" because it did look like it). No picture of the site at that site, but some nice food pix.

cko, did you forget to put the link in, or am I not seeing it somehow? I got really excited by the clock, too, because I also went there on my recent trip to Vancouver. It's one of those kind of tourist-trappy places. Lots of souvenir stores selling plush moose and ugly Vancouver t-shirts. But it's still worth going there since there are also some cool little local boutiques in the area. Plus a lot of old-timey looking buildings and streets. There used to be this kind of oddly awesome interactive musical show under Gastown that told the story of the history of Vancouver when I went there even longer ago. But I found it all boarded up when I went again this year. Guess not enough people wanted to see the musical story of Vancouver to make it worth their while. It's a pretty nice nod to Vancouver for them to use the Gastown clock in the season finale, it being such a recognizable landmark and all. I wonder if the people looking at monkey-dancing Sam funny were real passerbys and not extras? Usually there would be a lot of tourists with cameras there, though. Maybe they shot the scene there at a really early hour.

Thanks, bec, I did forget the link. That scene *was* picturesque; what I noticed is that for one of the first times this season it looked like it was rainy, compared to last season when it looked like that all the time. Did look like an early Sunday morning, though. Don't know why I think that.

No picture of the site at that site, but some nice food pix. Yet more proof that all TV shows assume that Vancouver looks just like whatever city their show is supposedly set in. Especially if it's Seattle... (One of my favorite pass-times is looking for Vancouver landmarks in "other" TV cities.)

Okay, since there's no pics of the clock posted at that blog, I'll make up for it with pics of my own. The court house from the pilot episode: Bonus - actual Vancouver court house: Oh, and check out what I saw not too far from there: The skewedness of this pic is because I couldn't stand up straight from suppressing a case of the giggles. People must have wondered what the weird girl with the big camera was giggling about.

Fellow Reaper Fans,
You might be interested in what I recently found on Google Maps. Go to "Google Maps"; type in this address: 4092 Remi Place, Burnaby, BC. If the Map is not in "Satellite" view, you will want to switch to that view. On the map you should see a big red "A" which indicates that address. For those not familiar with Google Maps, above the +,- zoom scale on the left of the screen, you will see a little yellow "stick man". Place your cursor on him and drag him to the red "A" and release. This should take you to a ground level view at that address. Once there, hold down the right mouse button and drag to the left, so that the picture will pan to the right. Hopefully, if you have done all of this correctly, you will get a nice surprise.

If bec is still around, I'm sure the previous post will be of interest. I also took a look at some of the old posts above and bec kindly linked several spots. You can see the ground level view of the sites by dragging the little yellow "stick man" to the spot and panning. They used a very good high definition camera to film the Vancouver area, it is so clear you can even read addresses.
