I agree with Alan being selfish. He should want to help Sam so that he can stay on earth.

I can understand at this point Alan not wanting to help Sam, since he doesn't know that Sam's not the one who sold his soul. But that response was nothing more than "me me me". I'm not surprised the guy ended up selling his own soul in the first place.
