I'm pretty sure that is Mark Wahlberg and everyone is retweeting his tweet so that's cool. But how about this: twitter.com/bretharrisonHe's been on since April 29 and madly responding to all his fans. I tweeted him about here and the petition. See if I hear back. Check it out, he seems so sweet. Oh, and if you want to see people tweeting about reaper, check these: twitter.com/#search?q=%23reapertwitter.com/#search?q=%23savereaperI'm kinda getting into Twitter in case you couldn't tell.

Your Twitter Update:
No response from Bret, but he did "tweet" this:
bretharrison =(
And some random person "retweeted" my tweet about Reaper! Just like people are doing for Marky Mark!
This week is the week I finally AM Queen of the Internet. Me and about a billion other people.

Do you think ABC Studios will know if they saved Reaper before the Season Finale or could this possibly take the whole summer?

Do you think ABC Studios will know if they saved Reaper before the Season Finale or could this possibly take the whole summer? With our luck, it'll take all summer. Although technically, I would think this week. The stations have the same upfronts the networks do.

Bret's talking like crazy at twitter, wish he'd use the #reaper but anyway, out and out saying that the show is cancelled but cable is a chance. People are asking about syndication but no response on that. twitter.com/bretharrisonAww. And here I was saying he was so remote to the fans. *sniff*

In case anyone here decides it is not worth e-mailing the CW affiliates, I received this very nice reply from a regional director of programming for several CW affiliates:
Hi Bill, Thanks for the comments. I am a HUGE Reaper fan. The information you have is correct, but there has not been a formal decision by Disney about going forward. We would be interested in picking up Reaper if that is the case, but there are also other considerations to be made. For instance one of the obstacles may be that the actor who plays Socks has signed on to do a Fox show and my have to leave. It depends on interpretation of contract language and the like. Would you consider that acceptable and still watch, or is the character too much a part of the show (and the comedy angle) to make that unacceptable? Thanks for you feedback.

To which I replied:
Hi Chris,
While I would miss Tyler , as long as they retain Ray Wise and Bret Harrison, I would definitely continue to watch the show. Their chemistry is great. To some extent, the CW's interference has made Tyler 's character rather aggravating this season. He was great in season one, but there seemed to be "too much" of him this year and his storylines were not really very funny. This appears to be the concensus of opinion with many fans on the ReaperDMV fan site: (http://reapertwop.proboards.com/index.cgi? - if you are interested in taking a look). Thanks so much for your backing of Reaper.
To which Chris replied:
Great info..thanks for the link..I will check it out..would have thought Socks to be more key than indicated..
Chris Wolf Regional Director
Also received the following from another CW affiliate:
Bill, They are just starting to look at this right now, if they make it available, we will do it.
Best,
Dave Ward
So keep sending those e-mails, the affiliates are getting on board!!

wd, thank you so much for your involvement. And you've got it 100% right about Sock. I would say most fans at this point would not be sorry to see the character go, and wish Tyler the best in his new series. Reaper would most definitely survive without him. Thank you for letting that exec know this, I would hate to think that the affiliates might consider turning the show down assuming the viewers would not be interested without Sock. Not true!

Well, this is what I got from my CW affiliate:
"Thank you for your suggestion. We have not been made aware of that option, but if we are, we will take that into consideration. Thank you for your loyalty to the program, and we appreciate your feedback."
Not very encouraging. Come on Tulsa area Reaper fans (and Oklahoma too), they need to hear from us!

A friend told me about this link and this guy Nick C, she says "If you're not following him already, you should check Nick C's blog. No one knows who he is for sure, but he's a TV insider who is usually right about his advance news. He started out posting comments on stories on other sites, but for this pilot season he started his own blog." OMG the post is really really hopeful. You gotta check it out, here's a small bit. Thank you, Chyna! Goes on to say he doesn't think Sons will make it, and OMG I have to quote this whole thing! Wait. Blue, you're not Nick C, are you? We should post this around, damn being in L. A. (Which I love, btw. I love L.A.!)

He just tweeted me
@ccatko, if you want to save REAPER, my advice is to get an email/letter campaign for Tribune and other CW affiliates. #savereaper
We gotta spread this around, I'm out for a couple hours (damn vacation) but help out everyone!
And more: @ccatko, I'm not a CW affiliate or tied to Tribune. ABC mentioned a campaign but I suggest increasing output. #savereaper
catko, sorry my spam filter for some reason caught your message. I’ll have to check for those more often. There is definitely a chance for REAPER. Fans need to get out and let Tribune know they’d watch as well as affiliates. You likely have a solid week to get their attention.
HAHAAH spam filter, yeah.
And more: "Well I believe I’ve found that LOTS will be back in Oct/Nov (date not set) and that is likely when REAPER will start.
"They renewed LOTS way back in January or February (memory foggy on it) so I’m sure they’ve been trying to sell it since. Memory also serves that Tribune owned stations made up for nearly 40% of the stations that picked it up originally. So they’ve likely been selling multiple seasons to other affiliates since. They’re just having to backtrack and try and sell REAPER to those stations. If Tribune picks up REAPER it’s a lock imho."
Someone HELP by figuring out what all this means!

Wow, ck that's amazing. I love how determined ABC is to make this deal and show up Ostroff. She really is an idiot. The CW could have been a genre network and really played up their sci-fi/fantasy shows. They get the best ratings of any of their shows.
I wish we could reach more fans and get them all on board. I feel like I want to do more. Every affiliate needs to be contacted. A syndication pairing with LotS sounds great, and Reaper has good overseas sales as well.
Also interesting about Tyler. So he's committed, even though he may have to take a pay cut. It's good that the budget wouldn't be that different since it was so low anyway. If Fox is considering putting off SoT then they must believe a syndication deal is likely. That's good news for Tyler, because with two half seasons he may be able to do both shows. Creatively, that would keep him happy. Financially too.

Heard back at Nick's blog about The Tribune from a lovely poster named Julia.
I'm trying to figure out how to cut and paste the table of stations from there to here, but meanwhile go to the link and consider writing/re-writing to your local affiliate, especially if it is a Tribune station, since how I translate all of this is that Tribune would make a decision that would involve enough affiliates to seal the deal with ABC Studios.

Here is the list of Tribune owned CW affiliates. If you live in or near any of these cities, please e-mail your CW station and urge them to purchase Reaper from ABC Studios: NYC LA Chicago Dallas/Ft. Worth Washington Houston Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Denver St. Louis Salem/Portland, Or Bloomington, IN Kokomo, IN Waterbury, CT New Orleans Basically, if Tribune buys Reaper for all of their stations, it's a lock.

This is the info I got off my local CW affiliate website: www.nw32.com/krcw-termsofservice,0,3773213.htmlstory Before we inundate her though, can some other people look at their CW affilitiates and see if there's other info there? Esp. the ones owned by Tribune? I found this info under "terms of service" and NOT "contact us". It was at the bottom of the page. And holy crap! That's Nick C, the reliable insider guy at TVByTheNumbers! The one who said the WB loved the show, and forced the CW to air it.

Yeah, blue, I found out about this post and his blog from a Buffy friend who was, I think, involved in the fight for Veronica Mars, and she said he was a well-considered "insider" -- in other words, his interest/knowledge is beyond Reaper. I'm looking into the CW affiliate for LA since I'm there now, also Stockton since that is my area, per your suggestion. More from Nick my new best friend: catko, I believe Tribune would pick up the product for all their affiliates. So you have to find people that live in every area and have them be part of the campaign. Email the affiliate itself and the main corporation. Also tell them you bought a $5 footlong at the Work Bench, it worked for CHUCK after all

More from Nick: Now I’d also only suggest letters, email, signed petitions or and likely more important find advertisers in their area who would be interested in expressing interest in advertising during the show. If you can get them to sign a letter or an email you’ve got much higher chances. Viewers are great, but advertisers are better. Wow how would we do that?

Industry insider Nick C. addressed in his blog today Reaper's prospects for life after the CW. This backs up Hollywood Reporter's recent article. Among the many tidbits:
- ABC Studios is still commited to the show.
- Tyler's Reaper contract requires his return, regardless if the show is picked up by a network or syndication.
- While talks are in the works for SyFy, by far and away the most likely scenario for Reaper is syndication to the CW affiliates.
- ABC Studios is aiming to pair up Reaper with Legend of the Seeker, another syndicated ABC Studios production that already successfully airs on many of the affiliates.
- If sold with Legend of the Seeker, Reaper may be looking at an October return.
- Time is running out. At most, Nick C. estimates a week before a final decision will be made.
The issue here is the CW affiliates. The more CW affiliates that pick up Reaper, the more likely the show will be renewed. We are still stressing that if you want Reaper to return, email your local affiliate and let them know. We have received some good feedback, especially from the Regional Manager of several stations on the East Coast, Chris Wolf. Click here to find your affiliate.
In that vein, it has been pointed out that Tribune Broadcasting owns a boatload of CW affiliates. If Tribune's stations pick up Reaper, then renewal is considered a lock.
If you live in an area covered by Tribune Broadcasting (click here to see if you are), Tribune's feedback page lists as a contact:
Gary Weitman Media Relations, Tribune Company 435 North Michigan Avenue Chicago, IL 6061 gweitman@tribune.com
Whether you live in an area covered by Tribune Broadcasting or not, make sure you also contact your local affiliate. Mentioning a potential Sunday night pair up of Reaper and Legend of the Seeker probably wouldn't hurt. I have also been mentioning the Reaper Petition myself.
And for all fans, including international: Write ABC Studios and thank them for their support of Reaper. International fans can contact their own affiliates as well. Overseas sales are important too, so if ABC knows they can make money internationally, that's another reason for them to want to keep the show.
Mr. Stephen McPherson President ABC Entertainment Group 500 S. Buena Vista St. Burbank, CA 91521 Re: REAPER Click here to email ABC Studios.
Last but not least, Nick C. recommends trying to get advertisers to write in too. Fans are nice, but potential advertisers are better. If you know any businesses that might be willing to purchase local airtime, ask if they would be willing to advertise during Reaper. If they say yes, see if they will also tell that to your CW affiliate.
On a personal note, I want to thank all the people who have participated in this campaign, regardless of our success. A beach cannot be made with only a single grain of sand. Never underestimate your power, grasshoppers. Thank you.
5/24: ETA:
While all affiliates are important, Nick C. is now hearing that the TX stations are interested in Reaper. His exact twitter words: "Go after them."
If you live in TX, please contact your local affiliates. They are owned by Tribune, and are two of their largest markets.
The 33 (KDAF-TV, Dallas-Fort Worth): www.the33tv.com/about/station/contactus/
KIAH TV (Houston) www.39online.com/about/station/contactus/
All other affiliates listed here: www.cwtv.com/stations
If you get a response, please let me know. We want you to forward it to a certain person at ABC Studios. Thanks.
5/29 ETA:
From Nick:
nickctv.wordpress.com/2009/05/29/reaper-fans-email-spike-tv
REAPER Fans: Email SPIKE & SCI-FI (Or is ABC Trying To Double Dip?)
Just trust me on this, spam them today. Well not with spam, but legit “please pick up REAPER if you can,” emails. Mention your age and cable provider.
Update: Ok, from what I’m hearing the CW affiliates are interested but there has been no formal offer as yet. Why? Well it appears the guys and gals over at Alphabet Studios are trying to sell the show’s previous 2 seasons into syndication first. Why? Well it appears they are trying to pull what was pulled on USA with BONES: repeats + repeat of new show that aired only weeks earlier. The targets of that syndication deal are SPIKE & SCI-FI. Once they have that deal in place, the affiliates will get their offer.
So the good news is that fans of REAPER who don’t live in an area with an affiliate that picks it up will get the opportunity to catch it on cable shortly after the original airing. It’s not a bad business plan, and is likely what it would take to keep the show under its present budget.
