The Bug Episode. Skimming TWoP, this is where a lot of viewers jumped off the bandwagon. Stinger and Blue pointed out a couple of the major themes, below:
And reruns, I added:
Ted: I see a spark of the old me in you, Sam.
Sam: Please don't tell me that.
Totally agree with blue that Sam's wordless scene in the bar, "celebrating" Andi going to college, was some awesome acting by Bret.
Has the Devil explained why Sam develops the powers though? As was mentioned, the telekinesis helped during his battle with the arsonist, but the static electricity and the power to turn stuff into bugs wasn't exactly necessary for these past two Escaped Souls. So they're not really powers as much as they are annoyances that can sometimes (sometimes!) aid Sam. So yea, I still don't get it. Does the Devil provide Sam these "powers" or is it the Escaped Soul that causes them? Or is it something completely different? And why haven't the writers informed the audience yet? Bah.
I really liked the bar scene with Josie, Andi, Sock, Ben, and Sam. Mainly because Sam didn't say a word, yet said so much. Bret did a fantastic job.
I hope someday they explore the Devil's comment that Sam has no idea how much the Devil coddles him. I wonder that myself. Considering he's the Devil and Sam's his virtual slave, he treats Sam awfully well - especially since he really doesn't need to.

It is a different experience re-watching now that we've seen the finale. Everything seems more ominous. Like the Sam/Andi thing that seemed so tedious and lightweight, now is fraught with meaning. Why would the Devil want them to stay together? Or does he? Will the decision not to go to college now change the rest of her life forever? Sam is becoming more decisive, is that good for his growing-up, or will it have dire consequences? Or, maybe it's just my mood today. I did like how the story of the soul (jealousy) helped Sam "learn a lesson about life." Can't remember, is this true in other eps?
