Reposting my comment from TWoP since I was looking for that last quote. Acid Queen--this really felt like the pivotal episode, when things got darker and scarier, what with the car accident and all. (The Devil: "Get used to it, kid. The people you care about are fair game.") Sam tries to cut Sock and Ben loose, but they won't go. Tyler and Rick show some good acting when they're visiting Andi in the hospital--see a different side to their characters. Best Steve and Tony scenes ever. ("Fallen angels doomed to walk the earth forever, that weirds you out?" "Aren't you just the little heterosexual!") And: Steve: That's demonphobic and racist. Sam: I'm not racist! Steve: Then you're extremely rude. I'm still bummed that Steve isn't coming back.

I've probably rewatched Acid Queen more than any other ep. Tony and Steve and the big climax made it something special, not to mention the Sam/Andi moments and the kiss. Love when she pulls him closer by his tie! [/shallow]

Love this episode; it's definitely one of my favorites. The car accident always gets to me, though, because my sister had recently been in one herself at the time. Andi being the only one hospitalized and none of the guys is too similar for me to not think of my sis when watching it.

Ehh, I didn't really like this episode all too much. I'm not exactly sure why, but the early scenes with Steve and Tony at the Work Bench made me feel a bit awkward. Though, the car crash was simply awesome. Came out of no where. Also, demon!Steve certainly brightened up my day.

Strange question but can someone explain why all demons aren't in hell? How come the likes of Tony and Steve can live normal lives?

It's a TV show?!? Wow how silly do I feel. . . I was merely wondering if there was some plot line I'd missed but thanks for the reply.

Actually it is a good question, with several sort-of answers from the show, sphinx. (Though it's possible some of this is from fan spec or fanfic; I sometimes get confused.) We just re-watched The Favorite (2x4) where Nina talks about the fallen angels and Nephilim; we discussed that previously here. Uh, it's a bluesunflower post, so rather extensive and extremely educational! And a lot of demons are on Earth presumably doing Hell-work, like Gladys and the ones on the 75th floor, though the show has never totally explained that.

I think the demons adopted human names and customs in order to fit in with society. The Devil himself never attracts suspicion when he's on earth like when he was running the AA meeting. Sam is the only one who knows his true idenity. I wish the show had addressed why the demons were different from each other. Nina and Gladys are like night and day.

Demons walking the Earth is nothing out of ordinary. As Kathyk said, they are doing Hell's working, tormenting people, possessions and trying to get their souls (see 75th floor).
Gladys is similar as she is doing Hell's working but not tempting people to damn their souls but sort of logistical support for reaper.
So I guess Steve & Tony were sent topside to do their demon stuff but then they decided to rebel and all. As to why they weren't called back who knows.
Nina is different as she was sent to Earth to kill Devil's offspring, which means her presence is not Devil-approved but was obviously hatched in rebel alliance. Which looks like has members both in and out of Hell.
Then there is a parable (or whatever) that demons are put on earth to have children with humans (one would think male demons with female humans) and thus polute human race. Nephilim but with demons, not angels and as such safer from God's wrath as this is Devil-sanctioned and IIRC Devil has free hand on Earth to tempt people.
I don't remember the "doomed to walk the Earth forever" quote but it could mean that they will forver be away from Heaven and outside God's mercy/love/presence. I think it's S1 finale when Tony says something like "Even God, in His infinite mercy, woun't forgive demons" when Sam tries to convince him that Steve went to Heaven and was forgiven (remember Tony was cast out during The Fall so he obviously took active part in rebeliion that ended with archangel Michael kicking ass and taking names-would make sense Steve did too). He is proven wrong but that's later.
And when trying to figure out the mythology behind Reaper you should look into catholic one as Reaper has heavy catholic slant (more noticable in S2).
But then again, when it comes to mythology Reaper has more holes than ementaler cheese so it's just as likely that something was included just because it sounded cool and funny. e.g. Nina's story is full of things that were added for comical relief but upon closer examination make little to no sense and sometimes contradict other things added for comical relief (female demons going into heat yet she and Gladys are capable of having sex whenever they want, Nina acts like being on Earth is new to her yet villagers have chased her with lit torches so often she lost count)
