Once again, I'm torn. Choices this time are "Both are good" and "Dad is good, Mom is bad." Then there's always the Devil telling Sam "People who make deals with me aren't exactly pillars of virtue." Hmm.

I have absolutely no clue, but based on what we've seen so far, I'm going with Dad good, mom bad.

I'm a wimp and went with having no clue. Because I don't.
Yeah, the Devil made that "pillars of virtue" line, but he's the Devil. He could purposely be trying to make Sam think the worst of his parents when they're actually good.
But it's also possible that they're both bad because, you know, they're willing to make deals with Beelzebub.
However, I'm tempted to think that the Dad is bad and the Mom is good, since it looks like the opposite at this point is true and it'd be a fun twist.
Or it could go the obvious route with the Mom being the bad one -- which would also be fun, just not as much fun.

I said I have no idea because I don't; I'm terrible at this kind of speculation. But I do know I used to like mom and hate dad, and now it's the reverse.

Hmm, well... don't know.
We don't really know very much about them other then they're keeping a lot of secrets and that appear to be arguing a lot. I say they're more neutral characters then actually having a good or bad agenda in mind. But I have to say, they do love Sam as they seemingly felt guilty enough to spoil and go easy on him pre-pilot.

Not sure on this one. They both know more than they are saying and the Devil has already said that Sam will never get a straight answer out of him. Just saw the last episode on Tuesday night and now trying to work out how Sam's father managed to survive being buried alive - Demon? Can't wait until Season 2 starts , but that will probably be another 12 months after it airs in the US bfore we see it in the UK

troll! (Nice name, btw.) They both know more than they are saying and the Devil has already said that Sam will never get a straight answer out of him. I just want to once again reiterate how odd I found that scene. The Devil had the prime opportunity to bash Sam's parents, and yet he seemed to choose his words very carefully to make sure Sam was still protected. "They're your parents, Sammy, and you love them." It seemed to me that throughout that entire scene the Devil wanted to say a hell of a lot more than he actually did. It's annoying, because that's looking to be like one of the longer waits we'll have when it comes to finding out answers next season. Ugh. I don't know if this is true, but Reaper_Maniac at ff.net said it would be in June '09 for the UK. I haven't yet found any confirmation of it, but that would be more on google UK and not google US, which is what I use. And how annoying will that be if it *is* true? The UK gets a known premiere date before the US. Pffft.

I am so sure that is Dad is bad, and his mum is good. Why? HE STALKED HER FOR TWO YEARS. What's the deal with that? Sounds exactly like what a demon would do!!

Why? HE STALKED HER FOR TWO YEARS. This is actually one of the reasons why I have yet another theory that the actual contract between Sam's dad and the Devil (assuming there is one), is for Sam's mom to be with his dad, and not that Dad was sick. It's such a Greg thing to do.

What if the deal wasn't over him being sick, and if the deal was something like he gets the girl, and girl thinks the deal came later over a non-existent illness! Oh that's creepy!! . I read somewhere on the message boards about Mr Oliver's age and the period of time that cigarettes were aimed at children (he designed them to be sold to kids). Can't remember the specifics, but some people seemed sure Mr Oliver is older than he looks. Given the buried-but-alive thing, this would indicate a longer life span. Maybe. Maybe not. I don't know. I still think he's a demon.
