Oh, right. It was something about his jaw, not leg. Thanks for the refresh, Pace. Though if Bret really hurt his ankle/leg and had to be in a cast at some point when they were still shooting, this sudden "hey, Sam can get hurt, he's not a cartoon" kind of sloppy change for apparently no plot-related reason would be more understandable. In any case, The Devil saying Sam has the bone structure of a canary is still kinda off, considering Sam only had a sprain after landing hard on an ankle that giant-lug Morgan tackled with his full weight just the night before. Not to mention all the other beatings Sam took without any ill effects. But I guess all humans seem fragile in the eyes of The Devil. But seriously, someone who really have the bones of a canary would be so dead by now. Hell, a person with normal bones would have sustained some permanent damage by now.
Ha, maybe this is something else that is really special about Sam - he doesn't get hurt as easily as any normal human.

I think the Devil was just winding Sam up.

Just read the recap! ;D
I think she "knows" Sam isn't evil because Sam had not made any moves on her after she kissed him. So like most anybody who made the first move but then is not reciprocated with any interest, she's comforting herself by deciding, well, he's not attractive, I don't want him anyway, so there. I mean, listen to the way she refers to him as "white bread", "bland", "blah" and " isn't remotely wicked". There's a tinge of sourness about it.
That and I guess she maybe joined the order of Steve sometime after her demon-y rampage in the last episode, and Tony would have further convinced her that Sam is not evil.
I think The Devil was only upset about Gary. He was awfully cheerful about Morgan. So cheerful, in fact, it made him less upset at losing Gary's soul. At first he was all frowning and serious to freak Sam out, but then he broke into laughter and grinned from ear to ear like it was all a funny joke he played on Sam.
If The Devil was really upset, I'd expect something more epic than the time he nearly flattened Sam with the giant shelves at The Work Bench (after Sam saved that rocker dude from signing his soul away). That time, The Devil did say that was only him disappointed, and seeing him mad would be really something.
I notice that Work Bench shelf-domino scene from that ep was pretty much the exact reverse of this ep. In that ep, The Devil acted all jolly and encouraged Sam to gloat about saving that rocker-dude's soul, then he got the pissed-off stern look and brought down the shelves. This ep, The Devil started with the pissed-off stern look and "encouraged" Sam to lie, and made Sam fear something worse than the shelves was coming, then he got all happy-happy and everything was awesome in Devil-land.
Yep, The Devil loves to toy with Sam.

I liked this episode more each time I watched it. I was bothered that there was no continuity between this episode and last week's episode. How could Sock forget that he and Ben burned down Nina's lair? Sam never mentioned hi dad after being so upset. CK were speculating that maybe this episode was aired out of order. I thought Bret did a great job of playing injured. He sold that he was hurt. There were many scenes with Sam limping and elavating his foot which is what someone who was hurt would do.

I figured the Devil was so happy about Morgan's death because a) he got a new soul to play with, and b) Sam does bear some responsibility for the death. No, Sam didn't kill Morgan directly, but he did stand there and let it happen. Not that any sane person would do differently, but there's guilt there.
Plus, it seems likely that (although it wasn't mentioned) the Steve cult hangs out in a circle. If that's the case, then the Devil doesn't really know what happened. And he would prefer it if Sam were guilty of murder.
