The CW, (courtesy Reapersite): Airdate: Tuesday, March 10th at 8pm. This thread will remained locked until the end of its East Coast premiere (9pm Eastern). Feel free to prediscuss this info in either the Spoilers No More or Spoilers: 2x2 threads until that time. Thanks! We are restarting the campaign to email the CW, only this time to let them know how much we want a Season Three. With such a short season, we need to start as early as possible. Please take the time after this episode to drop them a short line. Even something as simple as "I love this show, please renew it for a Season Three" helps. The more people who write, the bigger the impact. The CW should know there's a devoted fanbase out there. Thanks!
And don't forget to spread the word! Campaigns work best when word-of-mouth spreads the news outside of the closed communities working to get it off the ground. And since snail mail campaigns work best, here's the address for Dawn Ostroff at the CW: Attn: Dawn Ostroff CW Network 3300 W. Olive Avenue Burbank, CA 91505 Again, even a simple "Renew Reaper for a Season Three ASAP!" helps. And if you're even more ambitious, join Bret's Socks for Reaper Campaign.

I...dont think I liked that episode. It seemed way too disjointed and rushed...no real focus. I was tired by the Sock and Kristin SL(even though I liked his little speech about her womanhood being special. Heh.). Ben and his bunny were made of win though! Liked seeing Sam and Andi good together and some Gladys action too! Christine Wills delivery was perfect. She joined a book club, eh? Alrighty then. Was Ted creepier than usual this episode? I....felt uncomfortable.

I think it's funny how Sock is becoming like a real big brother despite himself. Beyond that I thought that plot went on a bit long, kind of like Ben and Sarah from last year I found her annoying fast. I did like the continuity with Ben and the bunny. It brought back memories of Winston. He does like his little animals. King Charlie. Hee. I was glad to see Andi step up and offer to talk to Alan. It seemed like the obvious choice. And of course the Devil would know what Sam was doing right away. That giddy mood of Sam's was short lived. Loved seeing Ted get tossed out, I wonder if he'll be back or if they wrote him out. Heh. Demon book club. I wonder if they read Stephen King and Anne Rice. ;D And someone tell me where Andrew Airlie was? I jumped when I saw his name in the opening credits, I thought there was going to be a big dad reveal. All I can guess is that maybe he was one of the demons we saw, but he wouldn't attack Sam, so where was he? And it's starting to bother me that Sam hasn't been to see his mom yet. Sam really took a beating in this one. Shame he's back to being a rubber cartoon character that keeps getting back up. I liked the episode, I love this show so much that I like any episode, but it was slightly flawed. So what did we think of the Mongolian?

what happened to Ben's girlfriend? Or has she gone the way of Kyle?
I now have a mental image in my head of them all hanging out in The Purgatory of Forgotten Characters.

Andrew's always been in the opening credits, he's a main cast member. He probably has a "only appears in a set amount of episodes" contract.
Novium, do you mean the british chick? She fled to other parts of America. As for the other one...we're not sure. She hasn't been mentioned...just like Sam's mom/dad.

Note to self: STOP READING POSTS UNTIL AFTER THE EPISODE! And random, I'm guessing novium means Cassidy? The nurse, AKA Dualla from Battlestar Galactica. I think we heard her say on a podcast that she will be back for a few episodes. But I love the idea of the former cast purgatory. There's a fanfic in there somewhere. Oooh.

Joined by sock's old girlfriend, too, I imagine. The funny thing would be if the forgotten character purgatory was multi-fandom.

I am stupid. I completely forgot that Reaper was on tonight. Shame on me! ... So, any you guys care to recap for me? I would try to find the episode, but due to less-then steller reviews, I think I'll stick to reading it.

Thanks randomnation! It sounded like a boring episode, so I guess I won't miss it too much. Though maybe I'll watch it over the weekend or something.

It...had it's moments and there was some great advancement on the guy who escaped from hell/how did he do it front...plus Gladys was back. It just felt a tad spazzy. You might enjoy it though!

Too much subplot, not enough plot. Also, Kristen can die. ... So, any you guys care to recap for me? I would try to find the episode, but due to less-then steller reviews, I think I'll stick to reading it. Sam found Alan, but the Devil set him up so Alan won't talk to him. Because of this, Sam wanted to give up on Alan, but Andi really wants to go to Malta. Never piss off Andi when she wants a vacation. Lastly, Alan got a job working at a cemetary ("consecrated ground"), because he is trying to avoid temptation of all sorts. And the time it took you to read the above summary is exactly the same amount of time the show devoted to it. There was, however, an amusing moment when Sam played the "Don't make me sic my dad on you!" card to Gladys. You might want to find that when it comes up on youtube. That's all I really watched. Thank God for fast-forward and mute.

Well, I mostly liked it. Yes, the stepsister thing got really bad, but I did somewhat enjoy the yoga scene just because of Sam's observational role and Bret's great facial expressions. Ben is really getting more With It. He looks tougher, even holding the bunny. Loved the poignant Sam and Andi dreaming of a normal life scene. Awesome Gladys: "This is a federal building. No private bills can be posted." And wow, the Devil actually said "What with you being my son and all."
RE: the Soul, I did like the development of Ben using the historical references to figure out where to catch him ("Ignore history, Sam, and see what happens") and the Devil's rap about Sam accepting his fate and capitalizing on it (I'd have thought you'd love that interchange, Blue, it's one of your themes, isn't it?) using the Mongol as an example of someone who knows how to adapt (bluetooth, heh).
I didn't want to fast forward, but I was madly chatting at the time with bec, novium, kathy and random, so did miss some bits I think.

I thought the premiere was better. Too much Sock and kristin and not enough Sam and Andi. Ben had some great lines and action this week.

I liked it better than the premiere. Yeah, too much Sock and Kristin, but I just turned my attention over to chatting when those scenes came on. Too bad, I do like to see a fellow Asian chick representin' on one of my favorite shows, but the storyline is so dumb and boring. Please let her have some other purpose later. I have to admit, I did chuckle a few times because Tyler Labine is good enough to make the annoying storyline a little funny. I can see it being a fun dig at all the asinine "we're kind of brother and sister, but we're not really related, oh but woe is us we still can't date" storylines on teen soaps (like Gossip Girl). Maybe making it much, much shorter is the key to making it enjoyable instead of stupid. Last week I really like "Dude, that is my sister... I got dibs." Then the extended orgasmic bed adjustment scene bored me to tears. They oughta learn to quit while they're ahead on stuff like this. Ah, why do they devote all this time to things like that and don't give me even a little scrap of dialogue on Sam's family?
And on another tangent, I don't think even Ted would be so dumb as to call someone he's trying to hit on a "housefrau". That was just eyerollingly weird instead of the usual Ted patented awesome weird that makes me groan aloud yet laugh my ass off at the same time. It's a fine line. Oh, but how much do I love that Ben gives little cute critters such old man names as Winston and King Charlie? I love that a lot.

I have to say that I wasn't really big a fan of this episode, I definitely agree with everyone about there being too much Sock and Kristin. Though I did kind of love Ben's subplot with King Charlie.

You know, the more he says this the more suspicious I am. Last season when Sam was ready to ask him straight out and he wanted the truth the Devil said "I have to much respect to lie to you, so I'm telling you right now that I'm probably going to lie to you." It seemed like it was still a big secret. The only one who told him the Devil was his father was Tony. The Devil denied it (or remained mum), his mother denied it, but this season it's as if they talked it over and now it's a given. Sam's all "hey Dad" and the Devil's all "hey son". I'm just wondering when that happened that it's now a fact. Seems more like the Devil is screwing with Sam again by going with the assumption that Sam has. But that only tells me it can't be true.
And why the hell isn't Sam talking to his mom about all this?

Things I liked: - Gladys. Particularly Gladys irked that Sam saved her from Hell, and the Sam/Gladys scene where Sam "threatens" her and she takes him seriously. Sam was so comical (as opposed to when he demanded a vessel in "Greg Schmeg"), I'm really surprised she fell for it.
- The whole Devil/Sam bar scene. I figured the Devil had set him up, but watching Sam sit there and say nothing was quite powerful IMO. Bret did a good job looking like a Sam desperately controlling his anger. Ray was all kinds of awesome too. "Give in to your fate. Forget about Alan."
- Sam/Ben bonding. "When you haven't had a date in while, you kinda cling to animals."
- Andi. If Sam won't take charge of his own life, she'll do it for him.
- The Devil looking at Alan.
- Nina in human form. So far. Jenny Wade did a lot with her one line I thought. Such a "come hither" look!
Things I hated: - The letter K.
- Ben's stupidity about the rabbit in the barn.
- The "reaction" to Ben's "death". At least Sam acted somewhat concerned, but not enough IMO. Sock was just plain offensive.

Now that I think about it, it makes sense that if Sam thinks the Devil is for sure his actual father, he would be too mad at his mom for all the lies on top of lies to want to speak to her. So maybe that's why the guys never considered Sam's parents' house as a place to crash at all, and they never visit hot mom.
I just wish we can get all this on the show instead of guessing around feeling like we're mysteriously missing big chunks of info. I'd settle for getting some sense that this stuff is still part of the show and the answers are coming.

When they were debating whether to sleep in Sam's car Ben or Sock should have said, "Are you sure you don't want to ask your mom?" Something to indicate it's been discussed. Sam could have just shrugged it off with a glare or something.

AV Club recap/review by Steve Hyden, which I'm linking here instead of Media Mentions because it addresses some of the points we've been discussing! And one of the commenters said this, which is a total shout-out to onyourmark's wonderful drawing from last year:

Some reviews: Zap2It (pace - are you anna? it's a word for word copy of one of your posts) CW Source (sniff, no comments. but i hate them so i'm gonna fanwank it's a universal hate and that's why no one commented) TV LegionTV FanaticChildren of Saint ClareBookspotcentralTV Blog (Not in English, but really good pics) DingorueLe sigh. Sometimes I think we should just start a thread and put links to Reaper blogs that have no comments, just so that people can comment on them. ahahahahahahaahahah hula hoop!!!!!!!

Oh! Related to the two posts above, I really do think we should all be commenting at these various sites and blogs, just to show how much interest there is in the show. One hook is to let people know about the Email the CW Campaign. I've done that in a few places and linked back to here. That way we can spread the word about the campaign, and make it into more of a grassroots effort, which is what we want!
If it seems like the kind of site that doesn't like linking or promoting other sites, i still comment. Like with the AV Club, I keep thinking that the more commenters and fans there are, the more likely they are to keep recapping.

OMG, the hula hoop idea is inspired. They should totally do that on the show. And it'd be even more fun to see Sam squeeze into a hula hoop with Sock and Ben.

Yes, I'm bound and determined to eventually get everything from our old TWoP board to here. Reliquaries, yeah? Except the excavating process makes me a little nostalgic. *sniff* It was a simpler, more innocent time.

Recap for this episode should be up in an hour or so, depending on my typing skills.
Ugh, scratch that. I'm having formatting issues. It'll be up tomorrow around noonish.
