Love the devil icons. BEC!!!!! *hugs* We were wondering where you were, summer holiday perhaps? Great to see you here. You can check out the TwoP thread in Chat for more info on how this all got started but it was a blessing in disguise. This is a great board, similar to the one we used to have on TwoP and every mod is as wonderful as Barnes. ;D I'm exalting you for finding us, now have a mangotini and a look around. |

Hey, everyone. pacejunkie sent me a note that you all had started a Reaper forum. After looking around the site, I've come to the conclusion I can't really get involved here, because of your TWoP focus. I miss you all and our forum at TWoP, but TWoP is my employer, and Jacob, Strega, and the rest of the crew are my co-workers and friends. I understand the warnings and bans some of you got, even if you don't.

We do have a TwoP gripe thread but mostly (99% really) this is just a new Reaper board. Of course you're under no obligation to hang with us but we missed you so it was great to see your post. No. I understand perfectly. I spent nearly two years chronicling the Forum Traffic Control and Troll Patrols threads. I worked with others - at times successfully - on trying to fix some of TWoP's well known problems. Many of the changes that have occured there are specific reactions from the Network Executives to our concerns. I am in no way ignorant of these issues, from both sides of the table. Having said that: This is a Reaper focused fanboard. This site is for fans of the CW show Reaper. Anyone who wants to talk about Reaper is MORE than welcome here. There are only 3 threads that mention TWoP (and one is simply an address thread), leaving at this point about 94 other threads in which to peruse and post in. If you, Barnes, would like to talk about the show, then please feel free to. Do NOT feel the need to post in the TWoP threads. In fact, I think I would prefer it if you didn't, because we all know - in the words of TWoP, and most every other board I have been at - that this is an issue where we will ALL have to "agree to disagree." From personal experience, I know that sometimes you have to keep your mouth shut - even when you're being attacked. It's called the high road, and let's ALL work together to stop the problems before they begin. Also, NO ONE will badger you about your position as a TWoP moderator. If they do, tell me about it and I will take care of the issue. If you would like to lurk, feel free. I remember that is mostly what you did at TWoP. If you would like to post as juliebarnes, feel free. If you would like another name (because yes, due to personal experience, I do know that sometimes it is better to travel incognito), then please feel free to do that as well. Now, while I regret the name in our link, unfortunately I cannot change it - although I would in a heartbeat if I could. "Reaper" was already taken at ProBoards, and to be honest, I only started this place to talk to my 5 TWoP friends - pacejunkie, cko, stinger97, onyourmark, and pending. Next thing I knew, we were an actual board. Since that point, we have been trying to distance ourselves from TWoP as much as possible - hence the name change to Reaper DMV. But due to technical issues, we would have to start this whole thing all over again if we wanted to change our link id - and since we're at this point established, I cannot really see that happening. PS If you are still checking in, and have made it to the bottom of this post, then please note I am sending you a pm. It *is* great to see you here, and we do hope you will join us more when we get closer to the start of the second season of what is turning out to be the most AWESOME show. |

Blue, I'm going to have to disagree. Even if it's just 1% of the board, the simple fact is that it would be unprofessional for a TWoP employee to participate in a forum that's discussed a petition to get another TWoP employee fired. I'm embarrassed that I didn't figure that out for myself before encouraging Pace to invite Barnes. I'd love for Barnes to be able to be around, but I really don't see a way for her to do anything but read without implicitly supporting the forum's stance on her employer.
I'm not saying it has to be Montegues and Capulets, but I think Barnes is making the right call. Agree to disagree or not, we're discussing her coworkers, and it's very smart of her to stay removed from that.

Except we're not petitioning to get Jacob fired. We're petitioning to get him removed as moderator. While I am sure things may have changed since Bravo took over, Jacob is paid for his recaps. Of which, he draws a ton of people into the site. Before Bravo, moderating duties were not paid, they were only expected. I do not care if Jacob remains a recapper. And it's not like a petition will really get anything done. Bayliss will still remain moderator no matter what. But he needs to get a message about his moderating style. |
